What challenge were you trying to address with Voizac Technologies?
We hired them to help develop projects for our consultancy clients and our own internal platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Voizac provides us with extra hands for development when we need it. They’ve helped develop applications based on specific requirements for our platform or end clients. They’ve done backend development, and in some cases, they’ve also worked on the frontend. In other cases, they’ve designed the UX/UI of some applications.
The technologies they use depend on the project. For example, they’ve used MongoDB, Angular, and Node.js for our internal use applications. For clients’ projects, they’ve used other diverse technologies.
Currently, they’re working on a project for one of our clients, building a mobile application for a specific market niche. We couldn’t handle the project, so they’re helping us to speed up the process. Voizac is working on the front- and backend of this app. For the backend, they’re using their CMS, which they built and now reuse and adapt for different projects.
They’re working on the development going through weekly milestones, and dealing directly with us while we manage the project for our client. Meanwhile, for projects where they work on the UI/UX design, we put them in contact with the end client directly to speed up the process.

How did you come to work with Voizac Technologies?
I believe I found them through Freelancer. Initially, I found an individual’s profile and saw that Voizac was behind them, so I researched them and reached out directly through their website.
Usually, when I need to hire someone, I post a challenge or project on freelancers’ platforms and see what kind of responses I get from them. However, since this was a time-sensitive project, we decided to hire an agency to work with us without going through the hiring process. We chose Voizac because they were able to help with talent, and their experience was good.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent around $5,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in August 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We measure Voizac's success based on whether they can deliver our clients' projects on time and reduce the amount of feedback as much as possible. From that angle, the team usually does well — they're fast and don't require many reviews. In terms of cost, we add our margin to our clients, so it's helpful to know how much each project will cost. The team takes the time to evaluate the requirements, and they're usually reasonably priced.
Projects related to our platform require higher expertise, which has been a bit harder to get from them. Therefore, it's easier for me to hire them for client projects.
How did Voizac Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Generally speaking, their communication is good, and they're quite fast to respond. We use WhatsApp; even though I don't personally love using it for work, it speeds up communication. Whenever there's a sensitive topic, we use email because it provides a better track record of our conversations. Being in a different time zone has helped because they can do things earlier, streamlining some processes.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I'd highlight three impressive aspects of working with Voizac. The first thing is trust in our and our client's projects. Although generally, I wouldn't say I like working with agencies because I'm wary of sharing sensitive information, I trust Voizac. Secondly, their speed stands out. Even if I don't love WhatsApp as a channel, 80% of our communication is there helps us get feedback fast, which I appreciate.
Thirdly, Voizac's cost structure is good for us and helps us be competitive. Development-related consultancy projects are not our core service, so it's helpful to have a partner to keep our clients happy and assume part of the risk with us if something goes wrong.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Even if I like the speed of the feedback through WhatsApp, I'd like to be more structured for communication because I tend to forget things. Therefore, email or a project management tool would be helpful to track the conversation more easily. That said, I see the value in real-time communication.
Another issue is that we pay projects in advance, so if a client has delays in feedback, which we have no control over, we have to assume more risk. From a management perspective, it makes things harder for us, though not impossible. At the same time, that's fair since it's not up to them either.
Additionally, they could use the same technologies we use for our platform for all projects so that we don't have to rely on them to make changes in the future. If they could keep everything under the same umbrella, it would make things easier for us. Still, they have more expertise in some technologies because of the talent they have access to. However, they're not the most talented in UI/UX design, so I rely on them more for development projects.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Having real-time communication with Voizac helps make things happen because they work fast. They're very quick with follow-up, so they're great for people who want to see things happen quickly.
Additionally, be super specific with everything, especially when developing an application. Being as specific as you can will help save lots of time. Sometimes, you might have a general feature without the details, and it's helpful having someone who understands and gives you the flexibility to make changes and propose ideas; Voizac does that well.

Additionally, Voizac developed my website — frontend and backend — to describe my app. We’re able to load lists of cities across South Africa onto the website’s backend, which makes the lists available on the app too.

Supriya (Managing Member) was my primary contact. There were 5–8 people working on the project too.

Voizac worked against six project milestones. When they completed a milestone, they sent met an updated version of the app. I downloaded it, tested it, and gave them feedback. Throughout the engagement, we made several changes to add missing pieces. Their team easily adapted to the changes. Despite the difference in time zones, Voizac was available to us. They worked around the clock towards the end of the development process.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I appreciated Voizac’s suggestions throughout the project, such as creating the website. As this was my first app development project, I hadn’t considered many factors and didn’t understand what I needed. I appreciated that Voizac enabled testing during development because I was able to catch any errors. This was a fantastic way to work together because I was always up-to-date and able to give input.

I would’ve preferred to communicate through phone calls, which wasn’t possible due to the time difference. However, Voizac was versatile and did a great job.

We provided the design and concept, and Voizac Technologies developed the software. We gave them specific UI and functionality requirements, and they came up with the implementation. Generally speaking, they have free rein, except when I need tasks to be completed in a specific way.
The platform they developed covers everything related to a golf tournament including online registration, payment, scheduling, and pairing on the golf course. They also added functionality that sends mass emails to the players who register for a tournament as well as reminders for where they’ll have to go.

We don’t really have time to track particular metrics, but the quality has been very good. It’s normal in software to have bugs pop up whenever we develop a new feature but Voizac Technologies always fixes them. It’s a seamless transition from one side to the other.
How did Voizac Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
They give us timeframes for our requirements and they usually stay within schedule. We experience delays here and there, like with any software project, but it’s normally not a problem. We typically communicate via Skype and have developed a relatively strong relationship over time.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Voizac Technologies comes up with very good solutions whenever we get stuck. Another thing I really like about the team is that they stand behind their work. Other people will do something and go away, but Voizac Technologies is always very supportive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There are always cultural barriers. In Canada, the customer expects refunds or partial refunds for credit card payments. Voizac Technologies is located in India which has a cash-based economy so those concepts don’t exist.
I’ve learned how to get around the cultural barriers and explain things so that they’re understandable at the other end, but, when working with various customers, they have to figure out those barriers and understand what’s implied.
Some stuff that comes naturally for us and that’s not always the case at the other end. We’ve been able to discuss any disagreements and figure out a compromise that works for both of us.

The project took longer than expected, but, that was because as more details were shared with Voizac about the objectives, this was unavoidable. All deliverables that were set once the project was underway have been delivered on time. Very easy to communicate with Voizac. We have used email, WhatsApp and Notion for communication and project management.

We used Voizac Technologies to develop our platform from scratch. This was from conceptual design right until the platform went live. We wanted a platform which was user-friendly, yet something that could speka to the youth of South Africa. We are passionate about youth employment.
This platform connects the South African youth who have completed a year of experiential learning with employment opportunities. Some of these experiential learning programs may include the YES! programme, learnerships or programs of a similar nature. In our profession we see so much investment in the youth, only for these youth to circle back to unemployment once these experiential programmes are completed. We believe that the youth of South Africa is the future of South Africa. There is so much untapped potential and talent present in the youth that have completed these experiential programmes.

We had a kick off meeting to discuss key deliverables and project milestones. Key milestones had clear objectives, timelines and costs associated with them. This was very difficult as we designed the platform from scratch and there are always changes and ideas that progress as the development progresses. Voizac were excellent in communicating the impact of the changes and ideas we had and how best it would work

We had a Project Manager who was our main point of contact. He remained available to us at all times and was always responsive.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We have had excellent feedback on the design of our website and how easy it is to navigate the platform. We have yet to launch the platform fully but we are confident that the design is exactly what we envisioned in the beginning

We used Whatsapp, email and Zoom to communicate. It was dependent on the urgency of the need. The communication style really worked for us as we always felt updated.
