Users can register themselves with two-factor authentication and choose the healthcare care they need. The application will then match them with one of our employees that offers that service within their vicinity. The system takes all of the client's demands and tries to match them with the right level of expertise in that area. There are four applications for iOS and Android. 

The website has been created with WordPress. We provided them with the initial design, and they took it from there. Vog App Developers also offers us maintenance services.

We speak to Vog App Developers at least three times a week. They have excellent project management that is very structured. We always know who we need to talk to at any given time. We communicate via email, Zoom, and phone calls. We record all of our Zoom meetings to ensure we document everything we talk about. We have a workflow to keep track of everything, and the team is highly available.

We initially did a brief discovery phase when we switched to Vog App Developers. We sat down with them and figured out the timelines for the project and how they could help us. Vog App Developers has built our mobile application for iOS and Android from scratch and continued the web app from the previous developer. They’ve done the mobile app in React Native and AWS cloud services.

The web and mobile applications have the same functionality; the only difference is that the mobile app has push notifications. Customers can schedule pick-ups, see their history, and request e-transfers to get their refund. Additionally, there’s an employee app that counts the containers, a driver app to see all the pick-ups for the day and organize them in optimized routes, and two admin apps. One is a super admin app that controls the global settings and variables, and there’s a subscription admin app to look at specific areas in the city.

We have two project managers: a technical one and an administrative one. Additionally, there’s a developer, a project coordinator, and a creative director to design the mobile app.

My husband and I work in the automotive industry, and we noticed that we didn’t have a lot to offer to people who purchase cars, so we came up with an idea. We wanted to create a mobile app that we could offer to car buyers and their families where they could find different discounts from various business partners, such as pet stores, dry cleaners, flower shops, grocery stores, and more. Thus, we needed to have our app created along with a website and different web portals.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vog has helped us create our mobile app, our website, and three different web portals; they’ve developed everything for us from scratch. This app has three different components: car dealerships, customers, and business partners, as well as various complex moving parts for the different interactions between the three components.

Through our app, dealerships can interact with customers directly. It also has analytics capabilities built in to see what the customer does. Business partners offering discounts have an online portal where they can add their offers and change their information. Dealerships also have their own portal with similar capabilities.

We first researched app developers across Canada. I talked to about 20 different app developers and interviewed them to see who was the best. The overall experience of working with Vog has been amazing; they’ve made the process very easy, and they’ve done what they promised. Whenever we provide them with ideas, they help us find the best way to implement them in the app, which ultimately has allowed us to have a better app.

Our app hasn’t had important crashes or critical failures — it has worked fairly smoothly. Of course, there have been a few glitches, but Vog has always taken care of them. So far, there has never been a time when they don’t know how to fix something; they always come up with a solution.

Vog is great at meeting deadlines and communicating with us. They’re very transparent and honest, and the project manager is very easy to get a hold of. She has gone above and beyond her line of duty. We mostly communicate via email, but we also have phone and Zoom calls.

If you’re looking for an app development company, stop searching and go to Vog. I spent months vetting different companies, and no one else compared to them, so I would highly recommend them. Vog has great ideas to make your product better, so be open to their suggestions while also guiding them on what you feel would work best for your business; you know it better than anyone.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re developing and designing our mobile app and an associated WordPress website. I wanted a very modern, high-end look with a pop of our brand colors that didn’t it look cheap or tacky. The only concern I had was that this was a bunch of men working on a luxury fashion and handbag app aimed toward women, but they had UX and UI designers that were women.

Vog’s scoping process was professional and unique. We had an initial Zoom call with the founder and their business development resource where I explained our vision. It was not going to be a skeleton app that they could copy and replicate, as it wasn’t similar to any other apps out there. After our Zoom call, they sent me a long, detailed, professional proposal containing every single detail that I needed, along with its associated price.

I asked them a lot of questions that probably would have offended other app developers: like were they outsourcing any work? What will the timeline be? Can you develop a fully customizable app? Have you developed an app like this before?

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’ve sent me mockups — things like this are going to have flaws — and I’ve communicated the changes I want made. It’s been a very user-friendly experience, as it has allowed me to do a whole presentation for my team. When they delivered the revised mockup, it was clear that they understood what we wanted.

How did Vog App Developers perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very transparent with their deadlines and when I want to add new features, shifting the timeline if they need to based on how involved my request is. Originally, the project was only going to take six months, but it will last for around one year now with the additions I’ve made to the scope.

Vog gave me advice on my business that didn’t come along with upsells or additional features. Vince (Founder) took time out of his day to counsel me without being paid.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could perhaps add more women to their team. When I visited their office, it seemed like 85% men and 15% women, which is great because they assign all the women to my project. What if there were 10 women technology companies that needed women to work on their projects? I was lucky to have some, but more would be better.

If you have a chance to meet Vince (Founder), then you should. He’s amazing. Vince and Vog are great partners to help you build your whole business and not just an app.

I had the idea to make a website and app for a crowdfunding platform. My website and app will connect 3 parties: donors, service providers, and beneficiaries. For example, if somebody needs medication but can’t afford it, they could go into the app, make a crowdfunder, and give the money to the pharmacy. If the money doesn’t get raised, it’s refunded. I had no technology experience, but I decided I would make this happen.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vog App Developers is currently working on website development. They first listened to what I had to say and gave me a preliminary estimate on how much it’d take to build. They suggested starting with the website to test the model instead of going directly to app and website development. Once they made an initial estimate and I agreed to work with them, they encouraged me to give them a detailed plan about what the product was supposed to do and the different experiences for each user. We went through each one, and they integrated them.

Also, they’ve integrated standard technologies. For example, they’ve used Stripe to solve one of the problems of fund transfer. They compared different payments and technology platforms and provided some of their expertise regarding how information is adequately displayed to give the user the best experience.

I mainly work with a program manager; she communicates with several people and understands the project. Also, I’ve talked to their CEO, and he’s been fairly available for any sort of questions or concerns. He even comes to some of the meetings.

I found them on Google. I decided to look for local companies first; they were from Calgary, so I emailed them. I interviewed other companies, but they were the most transparent. Although they were slightly more expensive, I thought they were a quality developer. I interacted a lot with their salespeople and project managers before I agreed to give them any money.

Also, they were organized. They brought me into their office, listened to me, took notes, and gave their advice. It seemed like a structured, almost scientific process.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve asked some friends who are programmers and other people from my life to test the interface and determine if it’s a slick product or not. Although some things didn’t work at first, the UI is now intuitive. Moreover, the first thing I want to do with the website is to test it. I think I have a good business model, but the market will decide. My goal is to get more feedback from users and determine if I’ll invest more in app creation.

How did Vog App Developers perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a timeline. Due to changes I’ve made, they haven’t adhered to it strictly. Also, I’ve seen a lot of coronavirus cases, so there are times when I’m not as dedicated to the project as I should be. However, they’ve been able to adhere to deadlines for the most part.

I can upload an image or video of a problem, describe it, and then they go ahead and fix it. They’re quick about solving those issues. Additionally, Vog App Developers do a great job of documenting every meeting, going back to understand what I meant, and clarifying questions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

All the software developers are on their payroll. They don’t subcontract pieces of their job to lower-income places, which is beneficial because it gives them more control over how the product will look and a good sense of how the project progresses. Also, they make changes without affecting my budget. They haven’t asked for extra money despite me asking for changes.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I think their process is good. I don’t know enough about software development to know if there are things they could do better. Some colleagues say they could’ve done some things differently, but those weren’t problems in my perspective. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Everything starts with the initial design. Don’t make assumptions about how things will work. They can only program what you tell them, so you really want to think about stating the most simple things in terms of UI and functionality. You have to get inside the user’s head and think about things you wouldn’t expect. Vog App Developers is very literal; they don’t make assumptions. Thanks to that, the product looks the way I thought it would.

All milestones were met on time and under budget.

We were assigned a project manager who was our main point of contact. we had scheduled weekly meetings where he answered all of our questions. the majority of these weekly meetings also included the CEO, development team, and the sales manager as well. We were made to feel as if this was the only project they were working on for a year.

The app is complete and will be coming to market in the coming months.

Project manager was extremely easy to communicate with. If we could not wait until the weekly meeting, emails and phone calls were always returned the same business day. As well, Vince answered our calls, texts, and emails in a similar fashion. VOG takes a very personable and empowering management style. This was our first entrance into the sector and the entire team made us feel valued.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their overall vision from concept to reality was backed up by professionalism and execution. We went to VOG with zero technical experience and they brought the app to life with complete transparency. They helped us shape and build the entire business.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No. Vince holds himself just as accountable as the rest of the team at VOG. That type of leadership speaks for itself through their finished products.

I’m the founder and CEO of TapLabs Corp., a mobile health service provider based in Alberta, Canada. We deliver mobile bloodwork and specimen testing to a wide demographic of patients across Calgary, supported by physician requisitions. Our company also offers private COVID–19 testing and other testing services.

Our services are delivered through an on-demand platform, and we initially hired another software company to develop our systems. Unfortunately, we got burned badly and paid six figures for a bug-laden platform that was essentially inoperable. We decided to scrap the previous software and hired Vog to create two mobile applications, an online booking platform, and a backend system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

When we first connected with Vog, we had a discovery phase, going through a rigorous process of identifying needs, services, and how the system should work. From experience with our previous vendor, we had a clear grasp of what we wanted in the system, so we relayed that information to the Vog team. We had several meetings to go through a checklist of features we wanted to include for each platform and determine the pathways for each type of user from beginning to end. They made suggestions for the UI/UX based on their processes and designs, and we also had an opportunity to make suggestions, change course, and incorporate new features.

Once everything was mapped out, Vog started with development. The system they built includes a customer-facing app, a lab technician app, an administrator interface, and an online booking system. The backend oversees the entire system and performs various functions to support our booking process and service appointments. The team showed us mock-up designs and snapshots of user flows through the development process, and we provided feedback. 

They embedded a mapping feature using Google Maps that allows users to input their addresses on the customer-facing app. Then, employees can get a direct route to the patient’s location on the lab technician interface. We take payment at the POS, so Vog also integrated Stripe as a payment platform.

Vog designed the software with scalability, which was a critical component we asked for. All of the system’s functions will enable us to expand on the scope of services we offer and the geographic locations we operate in. For example, although we have 5–7 services that we currently offer, we can easily add new subcategories through the backend. We can also expand our area of operations to other cities or add new technicians. 

Since we launched the app, Vog has created new features for us. We’ve asked the team to make some changes and enhancements to the system and fix issues that we hadn’t anticipated. They’ve also been providing ongoing maintenance and support for the platforms. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 4–5 people from Vog, including Vince (CEO) and a project manager, who is the intermediary between the development team and us. Additionally, we’ve had some interactions with several developers. 

How did you come to work with Vog App Developers?

After a negative experience with our previous provider, we were very vigilant and keen to find a trustworthy software development firm that was local to us. We found Vog through internet searches, looked at their reviews, and reached out to Vince directly through LinkedIn. 

We met with the team, and they provided us with many cases they had worked on. I got a really good impression of their work, which spoke for itself. Additionally, I loved that they were Calgary-based, and their whole development team was local, which was very important to us. I was quite confident in Vog’s abilities, so we moved forward with them.

We engaged them around March 2021, and we launched the app in November 2021. Our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Since the system’s launch, we’ve grossed north of $1 million CAD (approximately $780,000 USD) through our system. That’s not just a testament to our business model and value proposition but also a well-functioning technology platform that enables our operations. I attribute our month-over-month growth in large part to Vog’s work. 

We also receive a lot of positive reviews from customers on Google reviews. Our company has a phone line for customers facing issues booking an appointment. When we launched our previous tech, we’d get inundated with calls from customers saying the app and website weren’t working. Since launching with Vog, we’ve noticed a marked decline in customer complaints. Our administrators can also see appointments coming through on the backend and know the system is working as it should. 

The Vog team is very knowledgeable. We weren’t clear on many things at first, and they were able to provide a detailed level of support and advice. For example, payment integration involved questions about taxes, gratuities incorporation, and other nuances. The team provided excellent support, and the payment feature works great for us. 

We also appreciate that Vog delivered the platform in record time. While operating with our previous platform, we fell behind and had many expenses, so we begged Vog to help us launch fast. Even though this type of project would usually take over a year or longer, they worked overtime and devoted many resources to help us create the system on a tight timeline.

Moreover, they respond very quickly and accurately to any issues we have. We faced some hiccups after we launched the software, and Vog identified the issues and fixed them very quickly. They’re fast at diagnosing problems, fixing bugs, and pushing new app versions. 

How did Vog App Developers perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been very transparent about budgets and costs from the beginning; there wasn’t a significant discrepancy between their estimated costs and what we ended up paying. In terms of timelines, they’ve delivered very strongly. Ours was a very ambitious project from the get-go, and the fact that they built the system in less than a year is a testament to their work ethic. 

Our communication consists of emails back and forth, document reviews, and phone calls with the developers or the project manager. During the development phase, we also had weekly touch-base meetings to see updates. Overall, Vog has been very hands-on throughout the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with Vog’s knowledge, skill set, and expertise, especially in comparison to our previous developers. Vance and his team are very experienced in the types of software they’ve created. They speak very confidently about their capabilities because they know exactly what features to embed into our system. Their ability to design top-notch, on-demand mobile apps and booking platforms really shine through.

Moreover, Vog is solution-oriented. They have a very clear sense of the complexity of any given issue and how to resolve it. I can throw any problem at them, and they have a solution in mind. Additionally, we appreciate that they’re a local company that doesn’t delegate tasks offshore. While most companies subcontract to save money, Vog’s entire team is local, which makes a big difference for us.

I don’t have any suggestions for improvement because we have a fantastic product at the end of the day. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to be very clear from the beginning about the type of product you want. Once you decide on a user flow or a feature, you don’t have much opportunity to go back and change things, and if you do backtrack, it’ll cost a lot of time and money. 

Going into early meetings, be very vigilant and precise about the user pathways and flows and the product’s overall appearance. Spending more time in the discovery phase is critical; you want to get things right at the start, so you don’t have to go back and overspend.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were intentionally looking for an ongoing and supportive relationship with a group of developers and designers to help us reach our short and long term goals. We wanted our designers and developers to understand and be excited about our vision and goals. Vog came to the table to work with us in a way that felt comfortable and fit our budget.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

After our initial meeting where we explained our intentions and hesitations Vog gave us the space to make the right decision for us. It did not feel pushy. Vog offered us solutions based on what we could afford and what we were comfortable with. They also worked well with our Visual Design Director to ensure our branding and culture was honoured. They worked with what we had and then delivered a product that we feel proud to relaunch as our foundational training platform. This will be an ongoing project with many phases.

We worked with 4 people in total but most communication was done through our Web Project Manager and the CEO & President.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are currently getting ready to relauch this project but have recieved excellent feedback about the design and useability of the site from our test audience.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Because this was a small project to begin with, there were some hiccups in communication that we quickly resolved. Any time I had questions or concerns they were dealt with in an appropriate manner and they never hesitated to meet to make sure there was clear communication and expectations. Deadlines were communicated clearly and always met.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We are a startup. We are still learning and they had patience to walk through that learning process with us. We have had experiences where development teams are siloed from the business. In my experience that always leads to relationship and business breakdowns. We had been looking to be part of a collaborative team, then Vog came to the table and met that need.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Like when any team forms, there is a bit of storming before nroming and performing and I believe we went through that process well. The key is clear communication and setting clear expectations on both sides. I think if they keep that top of mind going into each new project team, they will continue to build a strong and loyal clientele.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO of CND Creations, a start-up SaaS application business that has re-imagined palliative care and aging in Canada. We are headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta. I am one of two founders that will be managing several departments. With a background and education in administration, marketing, sales, and business management, I have the ability to integrate best practices into the business to build a strong, positive brand resulting in a sustainable, measurable plan for future growth.

CND Creations Inc. hired VOG App Developers to build the Team CarePal app.

What were your goals for this project?

After doing some research on our idea and discovering that there were only a few companies offering this type of service in the industry and realizing how many families would be impacted in a positive way, we needed the expertise from an app developers point of view to get all the features, design and flow down in a prototype.

How did you select Vog App Developers?

We really took our time and researched online for an app developer with a list of 'must haves'. We narrowed the developer companies down to a list of three and interviewed them over the phone and through zoom meets. VOG App Developers checked all of our boxes bringing a high level of professionalism and expertise to the table. We knew they were the developer for us when we saw their passion for this project matched ours.

Describe the project in detail.

Once we chose VOG to build our prototype, we had a series of discovery meetings to discuss our goals and objectives. The design and features of the app were a top priority for VOG and they were as passionate about the project as we were. They have the knowledge and experience we needed to pull from which was integral for creating the mockup.

VOG completed the initial design phase after the concept was born. At this stage, the flow, feel, general branding, UI/UX design, and functionality of the app have been defined. A mockup that details every screen function and feature has been completed and shows the functionality and flow of the app. Our next milestone is the development of the app in its entirety. After 5 months from start to finish with regular emails and video meetings, they provided us with a beautiful, detailed prototype that we could present to investors and lenders.

What was the team composition?

Our very first contact was with Vince O'Gorman, the CEO & President. He contacted me the same day I sent in an email requesting a consultation. After spending some time discussing our vision and laying out our brainstorming, he came back with a proposal for us and walked us through it answering all our questions. After that, we were teamed up with Paisley Churchill, the Product Manager, and we had support from other VOG team members in the background when we needed it. Paisley brought a wealth of information to the table and was an integral part of building the mockup. With her knowledge, guidance, and expertise on features, we turned our vision into a work of art.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The very first email that we sent out with our business plan to an organization requesting more information on services and financing, was a huge success. They called us two days after I sent the email encouraging us to officially apply because they wanted to fund our business. We have had an incredible amount of feedback, interested investors, and banks ready to start this journey with us. We cannot wait to finalize the funding and get started working with VOG to develop our app. VOG was a big part in showing us the big picture of our vision and getting it down on paper so others could see it in its entirety. VOG not only reached our goals, but they helped us understand how to build a powerful app that will positively change the future for families in palliative care.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Paisley, our project manager, is incredible to work with. She was always in communication with us every step of the way giving us insights and recommendations never losing sight of our vision. She even went above and beyond to look over our finished business plan providing valuable feedback. Her personality and expertise have been a perfect fit for our team and we are thankful to have her on this journey with us.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

VOG has been interested in the success of our business, not just the development. They networked and advocated for us with other clients of theirs that would be a good fit to partner with. They didn’t just complete our project and walk away, but they gave us the tools to be successful and are checking in with us to see how it is going. They have the knowledge and experience to build beautiful, user-friendly, optimized apps, but it was what they taught us along the way that made an impact. They were patient and took the time to meet with us whenever we needed it. We cant wait to start development with VOG and launch an incredibly impactful mobile app that will help many families.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Being that this was our first mobile app creation, we had a lot of industry language to overcome and learn. I don't know if VOG could have done any better in explaining processes or if it was just a hurdle that we needed to get over to be able to understand completely what it was we were building in-depth. Could this be a takeaway for VOG? Possibly.
