I work for a top-tier law school in the graduate studies department. We provide student services and alumni relations.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with VISIONSOUND?

We hired them to help obtain video footage for our commencement ceremony. Our program is expansive, with a large percentage of international students. The commencement ceremony is a culmination of students' hard work and effort, and the video provides an outlet for international family members to share.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We've worked with them for several years, and we usually reach out a month or two before the graduation date. They provide an estimate for their services each year, and they have a good working understanding of what we want from year to year. They shot the entire ceremony, which they then cut into digestible segments. Those pieces could be posted to YouTube.

VISIONSOUND gets multiple camera shots of the stage, the audience, and processional and recessional. They add subtitles and captions, complete all the editing, and transition all the content to the proper channels. In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, we provide information about the schedule and anything that might change last minute. They do all the heavy lifting on the day, and are always pretty self-sufficient. They know who they need to work with, and they capture all the moments we want them to highlight.

About two weeks after the event, they send an edited version. We make comments, and they go through a few rounds of edits. Once everything is approved, they send the final versions for our use. The entire ceremony is broken up into 15- to 20-minute segments.

What is the team composition?

We have one main point of contact.

How did you come to work with VISIONSOUND?

We did an online search for local companies that were easy to work with and within our budget. Their payment process was flexible, which worked with our complex invoicing procedures. They gave us all the information we needed and were accessible before and after the events.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've worked together for at least six years, and the bulk of the work happens in May each year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Students are grateful to have such high-quality documentation of their experience. They love sharing the videos with their families, and will often stay up late to hear the feedback after the ceremony. It's an emotional, exciting memento for families and loved ones.

How did VISIONSOUND perform from a project management standpoint?

They're responsive, and their turnaround times are fast. They work autonomously, are professional and easy to work with, and all their final products are solid. We really like their work, which is part of the reason we've worked together for so long. They bring strong expertise, and I trust their feedback and recommendations.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their whole team is very professional. They are open to their clients being either hands-on or hands-off, and they always generate a great product. They're friendly, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for videography services.

Have a clear idea of your parameters and goals. They will help you solidify your plans, but the better you communicate upfront, the better they will deliver.

We needed to update our corporate video to encompass our business’ current look and feel.

What was the scope of their involvement?

VISIONSOUND first produced a video for us 22 years ago, managing a product update ten years later. Most recently, we collaborated with them on the third update to our corporate video. VISIONSOUND guided our team through the entire process of the update on the corporate video. Their team managed the process from A-to-Z. They started by interviewing our teammates to understand our vision. To fill in any gaps, they researched our company to build a creative perspective. Their team wrote the script, reviewing the content with our team. Then, they directed several weeks of shooting, which included three business videos.

We worked with one teammate who was our only point of contact.

What is the status of this engagement?

For the third update, we collaborated between March 2018–April 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

VISIONSOUND captured the look and feel of our business. They created a product that delivers a succinct message about our identity with as much impact as a 20-minute video. We use the corporate video in our lobby and for presentations as well as tradeshows and conferences. They helped us give people a brief taste of who we are as an organization.

How did VISIONSOUND perform from a project management standpoint?

VISIONSOUND guided and directed the project from start to finish. They provided an open line of communication. By phone, email, and text, VISIONSOUND was extremely responsive. If we couldn’t reach a teammate because they were on a shoot, they would respond within a few hours and certainly within the day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve worked closely with VISIONSOUND for 20-years. Since their name is attached to products, their team is committed to the quality of results. They take pride in every project. Their team establishes a personal involvement, adding a personal touch to videos.

Their team is extremely creative and up-to-date with technology. They’ll try to make something visually appealing to draw in a technical audience.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand and rely on other resources. This would prevent the team from becoming inundated. One individual can only accomplish so much.

At the onset, express needs because their team has a wealth of knowledge to address them. Be open and tap into VISIONSOUND’s creativity.
