We developed a platform qualified to handle the sales and self-management of life insurance products of the different Equivida channels.

 

Each user signs on to a single website, where their profile gives them different roles which enable them to access all operations available to them.

 

This way, each channel can manage their organization, sales team and budgets to sell the

Equivida products, from their call center or offices, in a swift and efficient manner, allowing them to track their sales through targets reached, collections or commissions given.

CEDIIAP - MANAGEMENT SOLUTION

A platform was developed 100% in the cloud, where the different profiles of the educational center can have access via web or mobile.

Roles such as teachers, students and administrative staff have immediate access to information regardless of their location. It is not necessary to install any kind of hardware or software, users can start working very

quickly.

Cloud computing infrastructures provide greater adaptability, complete disaster recovery and minimization of downtime.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vertex Ray helped us design the UX/UI for our client’s custom mobile app development project. We created versions for both iOS and Android. They used an assortment of mockups, PDFs, and a special app to create dynamic designs. Using a website-based tool, they published the app’s screens to show us how it would look after we finished coding. The prototype included all the interactions and animations. Vertex Ray sent us the final designs on Adobe Illustrator in the form of .png, and .jpg files.

What is the team composition?

I was directly in touch with a project manager, a resource from the commercial area, and a team of three designers and developers. From my understanding, Vertex Ray has a bigger team internally.
 
How did you come to work with Vertex Ray?

We defined benchmarks for the company we wanted to work with before starting our search. Then, we considered several vendors in South America for this project. After interviewing different options, we felt that Vertex Ray understood our project the best.

We worked together from January–June 2017. The project lasted for about six months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In general, our collaboration was excellent. We are a relatively small company. But with a presence in 17 countries, our client is huge, so this project involved unique complexities. Vertex Ray was always open to adapting our their style. They produced exactly what our client needed without sacrificing any ideas. Vertex Ray delivered neat, fantastic quality work. Ultimately, the client was very satisfied.

How did Vertex Ray perform from a project management standpoint?

The team used Trello to provide daily updates, so I always knew what they were working on. At the beginning of the project, we held follow-up meetings twice a week. Later on, we scaled back to having discussions once a week. Our communication was very fluid. We never had any issues with project management.

We made an agreement for them to develop a product that manages hours and expenses for professional firms. It’s a small and cheap system in the form of a software-as-a-service (SaaS) with a friendly interface. It was a new business product and they were in charge of the technology.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We used Microsoft Silverlight for the frontend and SQL for the database.

What is the team composition?

We worked with one project manager and one developer.

How did you come to work with Vertex Ray?

We came into contact with them during some meetings at the German Chamber because we were on the same committee. I noticed they had great technological capabilities regarding graphic interfaces, so they showed me some of their past projects. We were looking for a very good UX and we liked their work, so we decided to hire them.

We started working with them about five years ago. The project lasted for about a year and a half.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Although the product itself was cheap, it was expensive to find a new client and we didn’t manage to sell it. This was a commercial matter and not relative to Vertex Ray’s work. The product had a good interface and met all of our expectations regarding quality.

How did Vertex Ray perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Trello. The project management was very professional and they met all the deadlines. It wasn’t a huge project that required additional management tools.

Their main strength was their graphic user interface skills. They’re very good in that area.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There are always things to improve. We had a couple performance problems we had to solve. We weren’t very clear during the beginning of the project about who was in charge of the database optimization, but this was also a misunderstanding on our side.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a private university that was authorized by the Ministry of Education & Culture over 15 years ago. A prominent figure in medicine in Uruguay and Latin America founded it. She is known for forming neuropediatric, psych pedagogy, psychomotricity and music therapy programs in Uruguay. I'm the director.

What challenge were you trying to address with Vertex Ray?

Our objective was creating a student management system for our institution. This required developing an information system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a management system that allows students to access administrative procedures related to courses, registration, exams, account information, and access to other current information. It also encompasses internal administrative processes such as human resources, salary information, and professor information.

The technologies they used included ASP.NET MVC, Web API, HTML5, and Microsoft Azure.

What is the team dynamic?

There were 5 developers working on the project and they used Scrum methodology.

How did you come to work with Vertex?

We received a personal reference for them. We interviewed them and presented our objectives to them. Vertex Ray’s proposal suited our needs and aspirations best. They displayed adequate reciprocity and teamwork, along with sound advice.

How much have you invested in them?

The investment for the project has been in the range of $50,000–100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started and finished during the second half of 2014. At the moment, we are continuing to improve the system. We maintain communication with them and take any suggestions they have. We are currently working with Vertex Ray to create a new website for our institution.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their achievements mainly relate to student self-management, which has improved greatly. Their impact on administrative processes has also been significant. It allows a greater flow of information for the integral management of the institution. The same applies to human resources.

This has promoted advances in integrating new functionalities that in turn are improving the efficiency of administrative and teaching functions.

Vertex Ray’s performance has been excellent. Their responses are receptive, fast, and efficient, according to our needs.
