Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of a commercial general contractor. We provide services primarily to federal and government clients.
What challenge were you trying to address with V2M2 Group, Inc.?
We needed help with video editing.
What was the scope of their involvement?
As a company, we pay it forward to other small businesses. As our company has grown, I’ve had a lot of “lessons learned”. This project is to produce and edit videos based on these lessons.
On our end, we recorded an hour of raw footage in an interview-style format. V2M2 is editing the video and breaking it down into four smaller videos. The team is also preparing thumbnails for the large and smaller videos.
The team is creating a 12-second intro for each video that highlights the topic with a theme. For the subsequent videos they’re editing, they’ll add the bookends, which included a thumbnail, an introductory video, and a little snippet of the video that they’re doing. At the end, they’ll include credits, too.
What is the team composition?
I work with Franklin (Owner) and Alex (Editor).
How did you come to work with V2M2 Group, Inc.?
I don’t recall how I met them, but I shared my challenge and budget. I took a look at samples of work they’ve done, and also looked at their work on YouTube. From their work, I picked out what I wanted them to incorporate in my videos. They’re also small and veteran-owned, just like we are.
How much have you invested with them?
We plan to spend $5,000 in total. We’ve spent $3,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We signed an agreement in July 2020, and our work is ongoing. They’re already done with the first four videos and we anticipate another month or two before everything is completed.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
This is our first time creating a video and responsibilities on both sides were outlined clearly. Because it’s our first time, some of it is a little bumpy. The team is flexible and open to communicating on how to best move forward. They don’t take advantage of us at all.
How did V2M2 Group, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been very good and they actually work faster than we do. The government takes a long time to approve changes, which slows down the process a lot. V2M2 is very accommodating despite things taking so long. We use Basecamp for project management.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their flexibility stands out. The team doesn’t have any attitude even though we’re going outside of scope and things are taking longer than anticipated. They’re great people and we’re working through this project together.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We could’ve done a better job detailing the process on both ends. We both had ideas of how things should go outside of what’s written, which led to miscommunication.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s important to detail expectations clearly. Dig into the specifics, step by step. Discuss what each side anticipates a finished product to look like and it’ll turn out great.

After selecting them, they tried different methods for our market and business. They asked for scope and responsibilities that were restricted based on the franchise. As a result, they were willing to try alternatives.

At the end of the trial, we had concrete steps to take for improvements.

We are Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club, and I’m the treasurer. We are a community organization that welcomes residents of Naperville and surrounding areas while keeping them informed of activities in the neighborhood.
What challenge were you trying to address with V2M2 Group, Inc.?
Our users are mostly within the 50-70 years age range. Because of this, the site needed to be more user-friendly and accessible from the payment processes to the layout. We wanted users to be able to make payments on the right page and have our home page become a landing page full of information.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The V2M2 Group, Inc. made our site easily accessible in various ways. They transformed our home page to include our company’s information on it as well as community opportunities for users to partake in. Additionally, they formatted our site in a more organized, efficient way. Now the information is more succinct and moves from left to right. They implemented the payment feature we needed, so users can easily pay on the site. The V2M2 Group, Inc. also gave us ideas for adding video components to our landing page instead of static images.

We worked directly with the owner of the company. We liked his unique approach of having graduate students working on some projects for course credit, but we didn’t directly interact with them or his staff.
