A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the CEO of a software development firm that specializes in synthetic data. We’re a SaaS company and we provide hosted solutions so that our customers don’t have to spend on their own servers.
What challenge were you trying to address with Urolime Technologies?
We wanted to provide 24/7/365 support of our AWS SaaS infrastructure, so we found Urolime to help us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Urolime mainly helps us build cloud infrastructure, manage servers, and monitor and maintain them with the latest technology. Their team provides a range of services revolving around these DevOps services:
- They monitor, maintain, and manage our AWS infrastructure. They not only make sure that the servers are up, but they also do patches and security reviews.
- They help us spin up specialty SaaS instances, which is a replica of our SaaS in what we might call a virtual, private cloud. We also spin up for certain selected customers dedicated private clouds that are a copy of our SaaS model. Instead of being multitenant, however, these are single-tenant.
- We offer on-premise hosting where we provide a copy of our software and have it installed in a customer premise. Urolime has created installation scripts and offers support for those on-premise deployments.
What is the team composition?
Urolime has 24 people that monitor our system round the clock, with eight members on each of the three different shifts. They also have a few other specialists handling penetration testing, security, patch maintenance, and the like, so there is a total of about 30 people involved with our firm.
How did you come to work with Urolime Technologies?
We came across Urolime by luck and circumstance. I used to travel to India every six months because we had a lot of alliances and partnerships there. Three weeks before flying to Kochi, we found them through an online search and decided to meet and have dinner with them once we arrived. We got to personally see Urolime’s facilities and met with the founder and CEO and his team. That’s when we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We signed up with them around December 2017 and are currently still working with them.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Uptime is one of our key metrics as it defines our SaaS service, so our systems have to be available and working. We get monthly reports in terms of our system uptime and we’re generally in the 99.99% time range, which is good.
How did Urolime Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Our go-to communication tool is Slack, where we have a channel with the 24-hour team. I can put a question in and get a response within three minutes without having to make a phone call to India. Urolime jumps into action if they need to, coordinating between themselves and getting back to us before starting the work.
They’re doing ongoing maintenance services for us, but when we do a project, like an on-premise installation, they round up resources and assign a person with whom we can plan the deployment. These projects are rare, but when we do them, Urolime follows a template or their own kind of checklist.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Several things distinguish them from other service providers and one is the personal relationship we have with them. Abhilash (Founder & CEO) hosted us in his house in India, where I met his family, and even invited us to his company holiday party, where I met many members of his team. It’s more than just a business relationship between us, which I really appreciate.
Abhilash is very bright and has a great can-do mindset. The word ‘no’ has never come out of his mouth and he really wants to make things happen. What sets him and his team apart is that they’re young, entrepreneurial, and well-educated in AWS, Azure, and all the latest technologies.
They also bring a level of service and support where we don’t feel like we’re a number, but rather an extended part of their family.
Are there any areas they could improve?
One of the pieces of feedback we gave Urolime years ago was to use more checklists in order to not miss some steps, which they took quite seriously. They’re better now and have implemented our suggestion, which impressed me.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Get to know Urolime. To get the most out of a business transaction, take a little extra time to become acquainted with their team as human beings, because they’re really wonderful people. Understand the services they are offering and see if their technical expertise lines up with your organization. Especially for a startup like us, you should also consider the fact thet Urolime is budget-friendly. The quality of their work is really good and also attractively priced.
Urolime Technologies has helped establish a 99.99% system uptime. The team coordinates well between themselves and responds promptly to the client's queries at any time of the day. They've established a good business and personal relationship with the client, and are highly receptive to feedback.
