Marketing website UI/UX design
Codalyze is a hi-tech software development company based in Mumbai, India. We worked with them for their marketing website UI/UX design.
For defining the concept, we were required to understand the ethos and values of Codalyze. We had extensive meetings with the keyholders to understand the different aspects of their business and find the one thing that can reflect their true values. What surfaced from this exploratory discussion process gave us a head start for the conceptualization.
The value that resonates with Codalyze for their every project is: Problem Solving with Logic and Fun. We incorporated the concept of Rubik's cube to reflect their passion for solving problems logically. The bright colors are used to reflect their fun culture.

UI/UX design for US based Ed-tech platform
SmartKids is an ed-tech company that creates calibrated learning paths for every student while providing educators and parents with advanced, intuitive analytics.
We were approached by them to design their product suite which consists of three platforms: Parents platform, Teachers platform, and Kids platform. The suite is a combination of the web app, mobile app.
Key Features of the platform:
-
Calibrated learning experience.
-
Powerful Analytics to reflect the kid's learning curve
-
A highly curated recommendations library
Our deliverables:
-
UX design and copies
-
UI design
-
Data Visualization
The platform was required to be a combination of fun and intelligence.
Fun enough to grab the kid's attention and intuitive enough for parents and teachers to track the kid's progress.
To reflect the Platform's intelligence, we introduced the concept of Insight bot and intelligence recommendation. It made the platform conversational and provided parents and teachers with hidden insights that are difficult to analyse by self.

VMware Inc.- Product Walkthrough Videos
A globally recognized tech giant with a major shareholder being Dell Technologies. We assisted VMware in reducing their customer support expenses by creating Product Walkthrough videos for their intranet platform used by over 40,000 employees. This helped to reduce the ops overhead on customer support. The platform journey was divided into 25 modules which proved as a solution for all the platform usage queries. All the modules were delivered within a time span of 2 months with the content duration of approx 2hrs. As a result, productivity improved and operational cost decreased.
As 40% of business expenses are disposed of solely for customer support helplines, which constitutes a major chunk of ops overhead, Walkthrough videos are a one-time investment. It educates a large number of the audience about the functioning of the platform at once.

Learning Management Software UI/UX Design
We worked with Classpro to construct a robust, usable enterprise design system for providing simple, responsive access to their suite of products from any device.
We identified all the pieces that needed to exist across the SaaS enterprise software, as well as some of the key features that would be unique to specific applications, keeping the user experience consistent. In a time span of 3 years, we designed an ecosystem of digital products consisting of a product suite and two Apps. The product design was supported by a marketing website, dedicated Landing pages.
Key Deliverable: Interaction Design (UI/UX)

For what projects/services did your company hire Ungrammary?
We onboarded Ungrammary as our UX/UI design partner. Their role was to re-design our existing product and website and create a structured design system. We already had a version of our product in place, but we wanted to simplify our navigation, look and feel, with new features getting added to the mix as well. We needed a design system in place for a faster development cycle.
How did you select this vendor?
We learned about them through a startup community, where they had already worked and demonstrated promising results with other companies. They had relevant UX/UI work experience in the SAAS domain. Hence, we decided to go with them.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The project started with the redesign our existing product dashboard and create a scalable design system. Eventually it also extended to redoing our website. They started with a complete evaluation of the platform and understanding the product and customer use cases from us. This was followed by the restructuring of global and local navigations. They defined our page layouts and created a design system for us. After completing the design system, they initiated the design module by module, following an agile process with our development and product team. Similar method was followed for the website. Our team provided them with inputs regarding our audience, existing analytics, new website copy, expectations from redesign, etc. And Ungrammary executed that following a great process.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A total of 5 resources were deployed from the ungrammary's team at various project stages. 2 UX specialists created the UX layout and design system. Later, a UX manager led the module designs with 2 UI/UX designers
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are happy with the design outcome. The new designs are clean and well structured in terms of information accessibility. Our customers are also loving the new layout and that it makes a lot of tasks easier for them.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We communicated with Ungrammary over video calls, emails and phone calls (few). The team shared design files or their inputs with us, and reciprocated well to our feedback and came up with the right solutions based on that. The collaboration between our team and Ungrammary was productive.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We felt comfortable working with them as if they were our extended in-house team. We worked like one team to achieve a common goal. The turnaround time is good, and the fact that they are open to feedback and also come back with suggestions for best UX practices.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Given the complexity of the project, they did a good job. No complaints. Look to work with them in the future as well.

I am the Creative Head of Milton, a leading Houseware/Kitchenware manufacturer with over 50 years of legacy. Founded in 1972, Milton has an established network of 55,000 retailers. Being one of the most celebrated homeware brands, Milton aims to provide high-quality products that solve consumer problems by continuously innovating, setting new standards, and doing outstanding work.
For what projects/services did your company hire Ungrammary?
We hired Ungrammary for our smart product’s (IoT) application design. We had an application design that was put together by in-house engineers to test the logic and functioning of the devices. But for a large-scale launch of the products, we decided to bring a UX UI specialist agency to design the App.
How did you select this vendor?
We found Ungrammary through Google search (Clutch). We saw their profile and it interested us. Later we connected with them, saw a few of their projects and the work process. We liked their process and therefore hired them.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The project was to design an IoT Application. We have a product range of smart devices such as smart casseroles, tiffin, water bottles. We wanted to design an application from which all the products could be managed and scheduled. Below are the different stages of the project:
- User flow design: They shared with us a detailed user journey diagram that with the decision diamonds. It helps us understand the various journeys possible from a point. For example, the journey when a product is successfully connected with the App vs when it is not connected.
- Wireframe design: After the user flow was finalized and approved by our management and tech team, we received the wireframes design.
- UI Mockups: Ungrammary created a consistent design language and converted the wireframes to the final design mockups
- Micro-interactions: As the last step, micro-interactions were added to the mockup Components and Design Handoff to tech team
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with three team members. One Sr. UX designer, a project manager, and a UI designer. Apart from that a micro-interaction designer and a visual designer also worked on the project but we didn’t interact with them.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Timely completion and handover of the project. Ungrammary team is supporting us in the development phase as well. Hopefully, the project would get live in two months.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We had a smooth workflow. A timeline for the project was shared with us at the starting, And everyone try to chase the shared timeline. We talked mostly over the tools to provide feedback. Apart from that, we had meetings once a week to go check the progress.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I think their process. We didn’t feel confused at any step since everything was written, marked, and managed properly. It was easy for us to provide feedback at each step.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I think they are good at what they do.

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of an AI company called BestWe Inc.
What challenge were you trying to address with Ungrammary?
We needed someone to do graphic and screen design for an application that we’re building.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Ungrammary is doing the final designs for all the pages in our desktop application. They look at the user experience and come up with the optimal screen design for that. They also provide support on the UI aspect of the application.
What is the team composition?
I work with 2–3 people on this project.
How did you come to work with Ungrammary?
I was referred by the technology company that’s doing the application development for me.
How much have you invested with them?
As the project remains ongoing, we will probably spend somewhere between the $100,000–$200,000 range. Currently, we’ve probably spent less than $100,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing partnership started in January 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their designs are very clean, functional, and up to date in terms of their approach. They’re also very good at balancing their own artistic pride with listening. They’re good at collaborating and providing helpful input and at the same time, working well together and not getting too caught up in their own design ideas. They’re very client-focused I’d say.
How did Ungrammary perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been quite flexible and disciplined. We have more intensive requirements that they adapt to and schedule appropriately. We have regular meetings at least once a week on top of ongoing work, and they’ve just been reliable about managing the whole project.
The project management platforms and applications are being managed by the development company, but they’re working along with them on those timelines.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What’s impressive about them is they really learn the application. I think they’ve shown the ability to really learn about the application so their design ideas are more effective. They're more functional because they’re looking at it more than just an artistic experience.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s always a bad thing to say that I don’t think they have any areas they should improve on, but I really don’t think they do. They’re doing a very good job, and I think they respond well to feedback. If I wanted something done differently, they would immediately conform to that. I don’t have any feedback that I don’t share with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure to spend the time to get them down the curve on your application. By doing this, they can be an equal partner giving you input. In other words, consider them more than just graphic design partners. They can provide a lot of valuable input to the user experience level.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder of a fintech company called ePayLater. It is a tech-driven checkout lending platform that provides credit at the Point-of-Sale (PoS).
For what projects/services did your company hire Ungrammary?
We have hired Ungrammary a couple of times for multiple projects. There were two major projects. The first project was customer experience (CX) design for the update launch of our B2C platform ePayLater 2.0. The second project was UI/UX and brand experience design for our B2D2C solution.
What were your goals for this project?
In the first project, the goal was to reduce Ops overhead by providing the user's right set of communication. In the second project, the primary objective was the timely launch of the platform. We had a strict timeline of 4 weeks. We needed someone who can help us with the branding experience and UI/UX design of the platform within the timeline.
How did you select Ungrammary?
In March 2020, we invited agencies to pitch for the revamp of ePayLater. Ungrammary was one of the agencies that was invited for the pitch. We all liked their work. Later on, when we required help in another project, we reached out to them. They did a great job; and it has been a steady engagement since then
Describe the project in detail.
We wanted to launch a new platform for our B2D users. We hired Ungrammary for the complete execution of the platform, right from name generation to brand story to UI/UX of the platform's marketing website.
What was the team composition?
We were in touch with Swati and Rahul for design thinking and ideation. Once the ideation was approved, the design part was executed by their team of visual and UI designers.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
In the first project, the goal was to reduce ops overhead. Since the number of queries we received was significantly less than the number we were expecting, it was a success. In the second project, the entire project was completed from scratch within a steep timeline. It helped us with the timely launch of the platform.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was quite smooth. When the project started, a lockdown was imposed in India due to pandemic; therefore, despite our presence in the same city, we could not have in-person meetings with the team. Yet, the execution of the project was very well.
They have great processes in place right from Name generation exercise to UI Design to communication design. They conduct a stakeholder's virtual workshop, which helps every one to get on the same platform.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
An analytical approach towards design. Usually, communication design and branding seem more of a creative approach, but they helped us make final decisions with numbers. We had a steep timeline, yet we did a quick qualitative survey to understand the audience's behavior and used it to prioritize the values matrix.
Are there any areas for improvement?
we like their work and currently do not find any areas where they could be better.

Video Training Production for Computer Software Company

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior program manager at VMware, a computer software company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Ungrammary?
We had an internal portal for 20,000 employees on a Microsoft platform but we had to move towards a new platform we’d built. Training all these employees on the new solution isn’t a feasible task so we needed someone to do a video training production.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They did our video training production. There were 25+ videos that they did for how to clear a page, how to add a widget, how to add a document, how to create an article, how to add categorization, etc. Each and every model had a different video. The total duration of all the videos was around 80-90 minutes.
What is the team composition?
I interacted with Swati (Co-Founder), a few visual designers, on-script writers, motion designers, and a sound designer. They also had a specific person for voiceovers, who we selected from among 3-4 people. It was going well but in between, that person felt sick and we had to stop the entire thing until the person recovered.
How did you come to work with Ungrammary?
They were recommended by one of our vendors.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $20,000-$25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from August until November 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They did a fantastic job with the videos. We’re really happy with their work. We will get in touch with them again when we have a need. All our stakeholders were happy with the videos.
How did Ungrammary perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was pretty good from their end. They had a set process within their team where we’d give them the requirements, they’d give us a script, and then we would have to go through the entire script. Then, they gave us a graph version of the video with all the designs and motions. Once we reviewed that demo, we gave them a lot of feedback. This took nearly 2-4 months because we had to work in different time zones with back and forth feedback.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m happy with the work that they did.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there’s nothing I’d have them improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They are the best in the market. They can provide you with all the videos you need.

I am the founder of a Hi-tech IT service company Valuebound. We are specialized in developing high-tech products for MNCs and large corporations. For the last three years, we are ranking worldwide in top 3 Drupal development companies based on our community contribution. We manage ongoing Drupal applications development for hundreds of customers for such brands as TIME Inc, American Heritage, Cypress Semiconductor & VMware. With a team of 70+ Drupal developers and offices in North America and Asia, we cater to clients in the United States and India.
For what projects/services did your company hire Ungrammary?
We are a high-tech software development company and for many of our projects, we require help in UI/UX of the product. We hired Ungrammary as a Design partner for our firm.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to get seamless UI/UX designs for our clients with a quick turnaround time. We have a great team of developers, now we want someone who can join our hand to provide similar efficiency in Design as well.
How did you select this vendor?
I read their blog on LinkedIn which I found informative. I visited their website to get some more ideas about their work. I liked their name and the way they have presented the information on their website. Later on, I connected with them regarding the project of one of our clients. They shared their process, charges and portfolio. They follow an agile process in design which goes hand in hand with our development process. That was the main reason we signed them as our design vendor.
Describe the project in detail.
Till now we have done 3 projects with them. Two were for our client, whereas one was the website revamp of our own company. In the clients project, one project was UI/UX for a MNC company in energy and another was communication design for another MNC in IT.
What was the team composition?
Their team comprises mostly designers - Visual designer, UX designer and UI designer. Apart from designers, they have a few copywriters as well.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I cannot disclose any numbers because of the confidentiality clause that we sign with our clients. But I can give a qualitative estimate of their work. We have completed two projects with them and another one is in progress. For both the projects we got a very good response from the client. Since they are our design partners, our successes are shared. Good job done by them is equivalent to a good job done by us. I believe our ongoing partnership is the best outcome of their success in the projects they have done.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Both of our teams are in the Service industry where we deal with many remote clients. Therefore, our team worked in a collaborative environment. We follow Agile methodology in our organization and the same methodology was followed by Ungrammary’s team, it made things easier for us. The best part about their team was the use of multiple online tools which enabled us to do quick and effective communication. One of such examples is the Trello board. Most of us use it for project management. But from them, I have learned how to use Trello for Card sorting UX practise; which is very difficult if all the stakeholders are not present in the same room.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their process. In the service industry, it is very important to have a good process so that meetings to ideas to execution to handover, everything becomes smooth. A good process makes things easier for everyone. Another best part about them is the way they take feedback from the client. Most of the time, the clients are not from a design background with a minimal to negligible understanding of design aesthetics. In this scenario, Ungrammary always knows how to convert the direct feedback to detailed feedback with identified reason.
Are there any areas for improvement?
They are a fairly young company with a young team. But they have a very strong grip over their deliverables and know how of their service. When I met them, I had this question in mind: are they too young? Would they be able to manage the high worth client? But with the very first project, they proved me wrong. If you follow the process defined by them for the project, it will turn out gold in the long term.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CTO at a data-tech ML/AI company working with banks and other financial institutions headquartered in New Delhi, India. Our company has about 100 employees and we are present in India, Malaysia and the Middle East.
For what projects/services did your company hire Ungrammary?
Goals101 is a Transaction Behavioural Intelligence (TBI) company that accelerates business growth for banks with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). We engaged with them to design their flagship product, the Alpha Platform, which is one of the fastest-growing big data platforms in the fintech space.
What were your goals for this project?
We were short on our timeline and that was the time when we onboarded Ungrammary to take over our design requirements. The primary goal was to make a robust fin-tech platform which could cater to the requirement of multiple portfolio users. Our product has multiple users such as Bank user, Brand user; Our goal was to cater to the requirement of each of the users in design keeping the overall experience consistent. But, of course, yes! The primary goal was always to complete the project on time so that we can meet the launch date.
How did you select this vendor?
I knew about them through my network. Initially, we hired them for a smaller project as a pilot. Later on, after taking a closer look at their work and their prompt delivery towards project completion, we hired them on a retainer basis.
Describe the project in detail.
As I mentioned before, we hired them for a small project. The purpose was to redesign the UI of the platform. But during this exercise, we encountered that the UX of the platform is broken for multiple journeys. Ungrammary helped us identify those journeys and provided the most efficient solution which could fix the journey without compromising the UI consistency. This way they started working on the UX and UI of the platform. Our is a fairly complicated platform with multiple modules available for different types of users. After working with Ungrammary for some time, they got a good idea of the product. Their familiarity with the platform and rich understanding further helped to design the Version 2. We launched Version 1 last year and now we are mid-way through the design of Version 2. One thing that is Key Highlight of their process is that Ungrammary SPOCs coordinate with all the departments i.e Business, Data Science, Tech so that each one of us is on the same platform.
What was the team composition?
The team majorly comprises UX and UI designers. Rahul and Swati coordinate with us for all the high-level project briefing. Then they further sub-allocated the tasks to their team. Since we are on the retainer model, we buy hours from them. If the number of hours are more in some month, they allocate more number of team members.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Ungrammary helps us to design and test the prototype before the development. In return, it helped us to accelerate the project velocity and crunch the timeline for product development. As it takes away the pain of iteration while developing the product, it resulted in faster closure of the Sales cycle.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow is quite seamless. Though our headquarters is in Delhi and Ungrammary is Mumbai based, we never felt the requirement to meet. They are available in all modes of communication. We have almost a daily video call to update on the progress of the work. Apart from this everything is well updated on email and Trello. They are available on WhatsApp as well in case of any quick query, feedback or update. They also keep a log of all the activities happening or has happened in the previous month.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They're prompt, efficient and they have a good technical understanding. While providing solutions, they always keep scalability in mind. I think in a nutshell, they are very efficient.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Everything can always be done faster, but we were very satisfied with their work every step of the way. In the end, quality is more important than speed and we ended up with a beautiful product.

I am marketing manager for Nerolac paints which is a leader in b2b paint industry like automotive coatings etc.
For what projects/services did your company hire Ungrammary?
i have hired them to do the designing work of advertisement and brochure
What were your goals for this project?
The projects were discrete in nature. We have worked on multiple projects with Ungrammary. For most of the projects, the purpose was to enhance the client’s experience with the help of Design
How did you select this vendor?
They applied to be registered as a Vendor with Nerolac. We have a standard process in place for the selection of Vendors. Ungrammary was chosen through that process.
Describe the project in detail.
Nerolac is the market leader in the B2B division and its clients include the foremost companies from the automotive industries. For the B2B division, the projects included a lot of data and technical information. We onboarded Ungrammary to present the information structure and message in a visually engaging format.
What was the team composition?
Team contains designers, content writers and client managers (SPOC). The projects were briefed to the Senior designer, who gets it done from the team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
As mentioned above, the nature of the project was discrete and the majority of them were experiential in nature. We didn’t keep track in terms of performance matrix but within the team, everyone was satisfied with the quality of the deliverables. At certain points, while interacting with the client we got to know that the collaterals were serving the purpose of Brand recall.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Since the projects don’t involve many team members, the workflow was quite direct. We usually have a meeting before the initiation of the project to brief the requirements. Post that, we had processes in place to check the status and updates. Therefore, we never faced any kind of challenge in the workflow. It was systematic and coherent.
What did you find most impressive about this company?

They assisted with marketing strategy and design. They helped us determine the best way to reach our users. We provided them with basic ideas and they worked with us to design a new brand for our company.
They handled all social media marketing such as Facebook and Google ads, content marketing, PPC, and SEO. All content and designs for the campaigns were created by them. They also did UX design for our website.
What is the team composition?
Swati (Co-Founder & Product Strategist) was my main point of contact. There were four additional people working with us on the project.
How did you come to work with Ungrammary?
We called several different companies to assess which was the right fit. Ungrammary had worked with other startups, and they specialize in digital marketing.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent a little more than $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working on the project in June 2018, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We received positive feedback about the UX design from our users and peers. We’ve been able to increase our presence and make a name for ourselves. Now, people talk about the brand with their friends.
How did Ungrammary perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re very good at project management. We have frequent meetings, and they keep us updated on their progress through email and WhatsApp. We’ve never had communication delays with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What sets them apart from other companies is how they worked to understand our business model. They evaluated our primary users, the challenges we face, and then created the best strategy for marketing based on that.
They don’t feel like a separate business, it’s more like they’re a partner and friend. They produce good quality work and always come up with innovative ideas.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We did struggle to communicate with some of the team members. Perhaps they could work on sharing their emails.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Explain the business problems before starting the project. For them to do their best, they need to understand the challenges you face.

Ungrammary has redesigned the client's existing product into a simplified, structured, and navigable system. This was made with good turnaround times, as well. In the end, the client's customers loved the new layout and made many of their processes easier for their team.
