Updating Core Messaging to Increase Brand Awareness and Market Penetration
Challenges
The SaaS firm had invested its time and energy in developing their product. Although the technology was in place, potential customers were not familiar with the brand. Their key product lacked clear messaging, value propositions, or marketing assets. Additionally, the firm's lack of marketing resources meant they were relying solely on referrals to generate new business, no lead generating marketing tactics were active.
Solutions
The TribalVision team prioritized messaging and positioning in order to provide the brand a strong foundation for their marketing and sales efforts. During this exercise the TribalVision created a new product terminology which perfectly articulated the platform’s position in potential customers’ marketing stack.
This new product terminology allowed the brand to offer a message that could clearly resonate with the influencer/decision maker audiences and differentiate the platform in the marketplace. Armed with this new product terminology TribalVision was able to build a consistent and convincing brand story that spoke to key differentiators and enabled their internal team to quickly and succinctly communicate the platform’s core offering.
To meet these requirements, we executed the following:
-
Identified opportunities to leverage the new product terminology and core messaging
-
Developed new branded content featuring the new core messaging and new product terminology
-
Revamped the company's website to incorporate the new core messaging and highlight newly valuable content
Results
-
Developed new core messaging, value propositions, and new product terminology
-
Updated the website with consistent messaging, an improved user journey, and an enhanced design
-
We saw substantial increases in web performance and engagement year-over-year:
-
Increase of ~7,000 website sessions ( 60% new visitors, and 40% returning visitors)
-
Page views/session increased by 16.91% to 2 pages
-
Average session length increased by 29.35% to 1 minute, 40 seconds
-
Bounce rate decreased by 15.71% to 58.57%

Driving Bona Fide Leads Through Measurable Channels while Establishing a Substantial Online Presence
Challenges
Despite its robust offering of home improvement solutions, solid reputation, and longevity in the marketplace, ABC Co. was getting minimal traction and diminished results from its marketing efforts. This diminished ROI was not only leading to stagnant revenues, it was endangering the overall health of the business.
Solutions
With the upgrade of ABC Co’s online presence as the overarching mission, the TribalVision team performed a rigorous discovery process. This included a comprehensive look at the company’s industry and competition along with a thorough review of its internal operations and past marketing efforts. The intensive process determined which business and marketing approaches could be strengthened, which could be eliminated, and identified the optimal new marketing channels to implement.
Once the discovery process was complete, TribalVision created a comprehensive marketing strategy with specific, actionable recommendations. With this new plan as a guide, TribalVision instituted a multi-channel approach specifically designed to generate measurable results for ABC Co. The goal was to maximize the impact of every dollar spent without increasing its existing marketing budget.
Results
As a result of TribalVision’s strategic plan and tactical execution, ABC Co. transformed its marketing initiatives to a more balanced mix of online and offline tactics. This transformation not only increased website traffic, but also consistently generated more qualified leads, while heightening engagement among prospect and current customers.
Measurable improvements achieved through the TribalVision guided effort include:
-
300% increase in website conversion rates
-
385% boost in overall online search traffic
-
500% increase in organic monthly website visits
In a little over one year, ABC Co. achieved the strongest year-end quarter in its history. It now continues to build on its position as one of Southern New England’s leading providers of home improvement solutions.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a project manager for a grant-funded program within the Center for Disaster Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
For what projects/services did your company hire TribalVision?
Initially, we were looking for a graphic designer to produce an annual summary report for our program. After working with TribalVision on the initial project, we since have collaborated on a couple of smaller projects, including a one pager and a logo update. We plan to work with TV on this year's summary report as well as additional one pagers.
How did you select this vendor?
Upon an initial search of vendors that were already approved through MGH, we did not find anyone that fit our needs. We found TribalVision after a search of graphic design firms in the Boston area and after an initial meeting with the team, found that they would be the right fit for our needs.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
After an initial kick-off conversation, we outlined a scope of work for TribalVision for the duration of our 12-month project cycle (starting in September) that included one annual summary report and two one-pagers, with the potential for website graphic design support in the future.
What was the team composition?
I've worked closely with the marketing manager on details and logistics for projects, while the founder/partner has been an integral part of the contract agreement process.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Although I don't have specific numbers, TribalVision's work with us (particularly the 2020 annual report) has been a key reference material for our stakeholders, who range from hospitals and healthcare entities across New England to congressional and governmental actors in Washington D.C. The products that TribalVision has provided us are essential to our program's continued funding.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We have had an initial planning meeting before each new project. During that, we establish a timeline for drafts, iterations, edits and a final product. The TribalVision team has gone above and beyond to ensure that our feedback is not only taken into consideration, but that the final product is exactly what we envisioned.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
From the very beginning, the TribalVision team has gone above and beyond to not only provide an excellent product every time, but to also make the effort to understand the message we are trying to convey with our product and how to best showcase our program to key stakeholders. We continue to be blown away by the quality, timeliness, and collaborative nature of TribalVision and look forward to working with them again soon.
Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?
Nothing. The team was incredibly responsive, timely and asked clarifying questions when needed.

The Tribal Vision team presented that strategy to our company and we were very impressed with the approach as well as the analysis of the competitive landscape. Branding & Marketing Strategy for Corporate Wellness Company
“I see them as more than a vendor, but a strategic partner.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CCO of Preventure. My duties include the oversight of sales and marketing along with operational functions like account management, product delivery, and reporting. We’re a corporate wellness company.
What challenge were you trying to address with TribalVision?
The initial goal was to design our brand better and differentiate ourselves in the marketplace. Ideally, that would allow us to win more business and retain more clients. We also needed to bolster and diversify our marketing strategy but didn’t have the budget to hire multiple specialists.
What was the scope of their involvement?
TribalVision helped us with creating video assets, SEO, acquiring paid search for incoming leads, website design, and more. The beginning of our work included a branding exercise that distilled keywords and phrases that embody our unique place in the market. We’ve further defined each of those characteristics and they’ve influenced our marketing initiatives over the past several years. We then built a number marketing assets including white pages, case studies, etc. To reflect, the new branding, they redesigned our customer-facing website and created a series of online marketing campaigns. This was done using Google AdWords, LinkedIn, and some key industry publishers.
What is the team composition?
We interfaced with a dedicated account team including a senior account representative.
How did you come to work with TribalVision?
We looked several different marketing firms through a competitive bid process. After initial meetings and talking more deeply about proposals, TribalVision stood out in how much they cared to know our business and not just sell us a product. They approached the project with a holistic marketing solution that more deeply addressed our needs. They also had very positive references, so the choice was easy.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent close to $300,000 over the course of this engagement.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2015 and the relationship is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Through independent customer surveys, we’ve seen customer awareness, sense of our quality, and company reputation increase in key markets since working with TribalVision. They’ve also increased our site traffic and number of daily incoming leads. We went from having one lead a month to receiving multiple each day.
How did TribalVision perform from a project management standpoint?
I've worked with other marketing firms that have been really strong in product delivery, but I've never found one comparable to the level of account and project management that TribalVisions offers. They complete tasks without fail and provide me resources in a way that’s convenient. We have a weekly project plan review which keeps me up to date, so I don’t have to micromanage the marketing plan. We use Google Docs as a central repository for collaboration and have face-to-face meetings every three weeks. Communication is done by phone or email in the interim. I regularly use them as examples to our in-house account management team of what it looks like to support a busy executive on key projects like this.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I struggle with that question because they do so much so well. Again, their project management is stellar and the product they provide is of high quality. Everyone that we've worked with at TribalVision has been outstanding. They've taken a deep interest in understanding us and applying their marketing expertise to our business needs and unique industry perspective. I see them as more than a vendor, but a strategic partner. That’s everything I want from a marketing firm.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I honestly can’t think of one thing.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a planned meeting with your vendor. We check-in once a week for a short meeting or just an email outlining what’s happened and what’s coming up. This process keeps everyone in a productive rhythm and on the same page. Regular touch points can also be used to provide valuable feedback. I see TribalVison as an extension of my team and treat them accordingly.

Digital Marketing & Web Design for IT Services Company
“Their team is results driven, and their strength comes from having professional people who are knowledgeable about all aspects of marketing.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the VP of operations and finance for NetCenergy, an IT company that offers business management services. As an IT vendor for small to medium-sized business, we work on projects, infrastructure, security monitoring, and more.
What challenge were you trying to address with TribalVision?
Our company has grown organically from referrals, so we lacked a comprehensive marketing plan. We had to start one from scratch to grow beyond our limits.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We hired TribalVision to help us put together a marketing plan, create assets and content, and update our website. We also wanted to heavily utilize social media.
We hadn’t developed brochures or descriptive content for potential clients, so they first had to learn about our business. They researched our competition, looked at our demographics and landscape, and determined what needed to be done. We created a summary of their findings and outlined our goals. They helped us with sales asset management and revamped the website. Our website was redesigned to provide a consistent message, helping us show customers what our business aims to accomplish and who we are as a provider. We then set up a marketing plan for lead generation, and discussed elements such as social media, Google searches, paid searches, and SEO. We developed a plan featuring creative components like internal presentations.
Our referral-driven company was not as well-known as it should have been. We not only needed to drive leads to our website and business, but we also needed better branding. We began an educational series on vertical content strategies. Our vertical markets are predominantly in financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing, so we focused our content on these markets. We led seminars for attorneys and CPAs to educate them on the current IT environment. We helped explain ransomware, hacking, regulations, and the theft of private information, ensuring that they were in compliance and had the right solutions to remain secure and updated.
What is the team composition?
TribalVision assigned a manager, a second-tier person, and a third-tier person to our account. They've been engaged in everything we have been doing.
How did you come to work with TribalVision?
We deliberated what approach would best help us with our marketing campaign. Based on our organization's size, budget, and scale of our marketing campaign, hiring an individual marketing contractor was not ideal. We decided to seek a marketing vendor or agency that would have the capability to do an array of marketing work, and with whom we could build a partnership. Most of the companies we looked at were pushing certain aspects of marketing, but didn’t offer the whole package. In contrast, TribalVision had a unique business plan with the capacity to act as our marketing department and ensure results.
How much have you invested with them?
We pay a monthly base fee that's over $5,000, and we pay additional expenses for project-driven content.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in January 2016 and our work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were prepared that results from this collaboration would take time to show because we initially didn’t have any content. They were very good at identifying areas that worked and didn’t work quickly so that we wouldn’t be wasting time or money. As a monthly fee business, we don’t have quick sales. It's important for us to build relationships. When we started lead generation, we began receiving inquiries. Getting in front of the right people is difficult, but TribalVision was able to do this for us.
As we started doing educational seminars to build our brand, our name recognition grew and we were branded as an upfront organization that wasn't just trying to sell services, but offered educational and training services. We've seen steady growth in leads over the last year and a half. Their multipronged marketing approach really helped; people have seen us in articles, white papers, and blogs. They now perceive us as experts in our field.
How did TribalVision perform from a project management standpoint?
We've consistently communicated, and their team is knowledgeable and highly responsive. We have weekly or biweekly meetings to ensure everyone understands our marketing plan and deliverables. We set benchmarks and goals to drive the project forward. Depending on the type of campaign, they provided us with statistics on our website's user traffic, website use, duration of time spent on the site, number of people who opened our drip-campaign emails, and more. TribalVision supplied us with scorecards for different campaigns so that we could assess what was working. We were then able to decide what areas of marketing we should invest in more, and what campaigns were not suited for us.
They have kept us on task and made sure that we’re aware of what’s happening. They've ensured that we meet and make decisions together in addition to managing the project process, plans, and next steps. They've been proactive throughout our collaboration, and they're quick to respond to issues or concerns. They also have kept overhead expenses low by working with international freelancers to optimize talent when outsourcing for services like web design, site content, drip campaigns, or other tasks. Although we only contract a set number of work hours per month, they don't just watch the clock.
What did you find most impressive about them?
When we were looking at providers, we found was that most of them had specialized strengths: someone was building websites, someone else specialized in SEO, and so on. TribalVision was unique because it was able to start a partnership and act as our marketing department. They put together a marketing plan and strategy using our input. It was like having our own comprehensive marketing department in-house.
They also prove that they're worth what we pay them. We work within 30-day contracts, so I won't be stuck in a long-term contract if they don't deliver results or I don't like their work. Their team is results driven, and their strength comes from having professional people who are knowledgeable about all aspects of marketing; they understand that marketing requires a multi-tiered approach.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We always strive for more, but I can’t complain about our growth.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
It’s important to understand what they bring to the table. An internal person may offer a certain skill set, but those skills aren't comparable to what TribalVision offers. Clients don’t need to be afraid of having an outsourced department instead of an internal one. They’re well-versed in working with small to medium-sized businesses, and they do their due diligence. You don't only get what you need, but you get a team with a lot of experience dealing with different things.

Digital Marketing for Large Metal Platings Company
“We've seen a significant increase in solid B2B leads.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
My name is Paula Frias and I am the marketing director of Tanury Industries. We’re a family-owned electroplating and PVD service provider, in business for over 75 years.
What challenge were you trying to address with TribalVision?
We needed to bring a fresh approach to marketing for the company, utilizing the newest technology. I was familiar with Google AdWords and LinkedIn, but knew we needed help to get to the next level.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We utilize TribalVision as our marketing team. We decide which direction Tanury would like to go and they provide the knowhow and technology to make it happen. They’ve upgraded our website twice; the most recent redesign made the site responsive for mobile devices and tablets.
They do a lot of work with Google AdWords, targeting the landing pages for B2B qualified leads. They do some SEO and email marketing, as well as creating brochures and other marketing materials.
What is the team composition?
The composition of the team has changed over the years, but currently, my primary contact is a senior marketing associate. She has 2-3 other people on her team working with us.
How did you come to work with TribalVision?
Our chairman of the board attended a function where the founder of TribalVision was speaking. He was very impressed and invited Chris to come meet our team.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend a sizeable amount on a monthly retainer.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together about five years.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Previously, our marketing was misplaced in targeting B2C instead of B2B customers. We've seen a significant increase in solid B2B leads. Now the phone rings all day with solid leads.
Making the site responsive has also made a big difference because we found that many people were accessing the site on their phones and tablets.
TribalVision did a very good job making the marketing materials interesting, colorful, and cohesive.
How did TribalVision perform from a project management standpoint?
They are on the ball and do a great job keeping me on schedule. We’re in touch via email multiple times a day. They keep the projects moving forward so that I can focus on bringing in new business.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They listen really well, and that's so important. TribalVision understands that we have a solid reputation, and want to build on that to move the company forward.
Most marketing companies want to rebrand us, but our company doesn’t need to be rebranded. Most of our Google search results come from customers searching our name because it’s very well known in the industry.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I'm very happy with the team, especially the project leader.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be open to new ideas and new technology.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the VP of Marketing. Specifically with regards to Tribal Vision, I was the primary point person to represent AquaPoint with them and helped developed goals, projects, etc.
For what projects/services did your company hire TribalVision?
- Website Redesign
- Google Adwords Campaign
- Video Content
- ABM Campaigns
- Monthly Newsletter Content
What were your goals for this project?
To both increase our brand within the industry and lead generation through a multi faceted marketing approach
How did you select this vendor?
The president of AquaPoint had a small connection with a higher up at Tribal Vision. So when the time came for AquaPoint to enhance marketing efforts, we approached Tribal Vision first. But only after we came to understand how professional they were about everything did we make the decision to work with them.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
In essence, they ran the marketing for our company. While I worked with our assigned team on everything in terms of making final decisions, they really implemented just about everything.
What was the team composition?
I was the point person at AquaPoint. Our Tribal Vision team was comprised of four people - a senior manager who helped develop the overall strategy, an account manager who I worked with on a weekly basis to develop goals within that strategy, and two others who helped put the plan into action.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
- Five different videos that help tell our company story
- Greatly enhanced web presence
- Better brand awareness
I realize these are "higher level" outcomes, but our sales cycle is incredibly long so in terms of more specifics it's hard to detail, but we are very happy with the outcome.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
This was probably my favorite aspect of working with Tribal Vision. Most of the time I did not feel as if they were a third party marketing company whatsoever, it genuinely felt as if we were all working together at the same company towards the same goals.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Really their ability to communicate. It was always professional and more important timely...whether via email or phone they were always available.
Are there any areas for improvement?
While I acknowledge there is always room for improvement it's hard to sit here and come up with any specifics with regards to Tribal Vision that wont seem like I'm grasping at straws.

We are a technology solutions partner that develops, implements and maintains mission-critical solutions for federal and local governments. I am a VP focused on sales and marketing.
For what projects/services did your company hire TribalVision?
Branding & messaging as well as marketing strategy and implementation.
What were your goals for this project?
Develop and communicate a cohesive brand/messaging strategy both internally and externally as well as implement a marketing strategy that increases leads and drives new business.
How did you select this vendor?
We initially connected with TtibalVision through a referral from another partner. We selected them after evaluating multiple vendors through an interview process.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
TribalVision is serving as our outsourced marketing partner, managing all marketing initiatives including branding, strategy, web design and development, advertising, lead generation and marketing.
What was the team composition?
Our team primarily consists of 4 Tribal Vision staff lead by a senior account manager.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
TribalVison has developed a brand platform for the organization that clearly communicates the benefits and value offered by the company. This platform is currently being used as the foundation for creating a new company website (an initiative being led by TribalVision) and will also be applied to a Tribal Vision developed marketing strategy once the website is complete.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Communication and workflow between TribalVision and our team has been very good. We view TribalVision as a partner rather than a vendor.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The people at TribalVision are great to work with. We value the partnership between our two companies. The staff at TribalVision is professional, skilled, easy to work with, and respected by our team.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Due the the nature of our business, we knew it would take some time for TribalVision to initially learn our business in order to be most effective as a marketing partner. Any other marketing firm we would have selected would have had the same learning curve. TribalVision seems to have gained a good understanding of the various aspects of our business though this has taken longer than anticipated and as a result, progress with marketing initiatives was initially slower than expected. Current progress is good and we expect that this will continue to improve as time goes by.

What did you find most impressive about this company?
Everyone on the team has deep expertise, even the newer team members. They are always able to answer questions about HubSpot, Google Data Studio, etc. I was also always impressed with their responsiveness.
The team was always organized, on top of agendas and outstanding action items. Even though we had a few team members working on our account, every one of them was always up to date and could answer a question even if they hadn't been as involved in that aspect of the project, with little hesitation.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Not that I could see!
