BACKGROUND

Incorporated by the Vodafone Group, one of the biggest international mobile communication companies of the world in terms of revenues, Vodafone Turkey is the second biggest mobile communication company in Turkey with 18.352 million users as of June 30, 2012, an increase of 105,000 customers from the fourth quarter of 2011.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

We wanted to develop Vodafone’s first mobile wallet for the 27 countries where Vodafone operates. We trusted Tmob to develop the mobile apps. The mobile wallet app premiered in Turkey and the second version will be on the App Store and Google Play soon, enabling Turkish Vodafone clients to make money transactions using mobile phones.

Non-Vodafone clients are also able to receive payments made with the mobile wallet app by withdrawing money from any Turkish post office. The app is the result of collaboration between Vodafone, Visa, The Turkish post, ING Bank, and tmob.

SOLUTION

tmob developed iPhone and Android apps for Vodafone Mobile Wallet. The main functionalities include:

• Money transfer: Send money to any GSM number and request money from any Vodafone subscriber

  Money transfer by QR Code

  Discover restaurants nearby, see related campaigns, and locate the restaurants on the map
• 
  With easy payment options, users can pay with a QR code in the contracted restaurants

  Vodafone airtime packages can be purchased

  There are Moneybox accounts for saving; When users shake the phone, the money in the moneybox can be sent to a specific person

  NFC campaign task manager

  There is a transaction history and balance inquiry
• 
  Users can add bank cards, credit cards and CepNakit cards to the mobile wallet; users can also generate virtual cards and deposit money to virtual cards from any bank or credit card

  The wallet also stores existing cards just by taking photos of the front and back

• Users can pay with the Vodafone mobile wallet by scanning the QR code that restaurants use specifically for Vodafone Mobile Wallet

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Turkey has been at the forefront of developing innovative payment solutions for a couple of years now, so Vodafone Turkey has chosen to partner with tmob because of their level of expertise in mobility, their innovative approach and commitment to quality standards. After Vodafone Mobile Wallet launched, it was awarded three Bronze Stevies in the categories of shopping, lifestyle and utilities & services apps in 2013.

BACKGROUND

GittiGidiyor.com is a subsidiary of the world's largest online marketplace, eBay Inc. It is the most widely used e-shopping mall in Turkey with more than 9.5 million registered users, more than 500,000 daily visitors and 9 million listings at any given time. It is one of the leading players in the Turkish online trading market with more than 150 employees.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

The challenge was developing mobile apps for eBay Turkey allowing users to buy and sell items and join auctions on the go.

SOLUTION

tmob Technologies developed iPhone, iPad, Android Phone, and Android Tablet apps for eBay Turkey. The project has lasted more than six months.

For the first time in Turkey, push-notification technology is used for different purposes than marketing. The system has the slogan of "Always Stay Connected." The system notifies users instantly with a push notification whenever the user is outbidded or an item is shipped.

This system is also integrated to the live-bidding mechanism, so the bidders know whenever they are outbidded and are asked if they want to rebid.

The "Smartest search result ordering algorithm" and "Best Match" functions that are used in search queries are also unique in Turkey.

Easy payment system allows users to pay quickly. After saving a credit card number and info, the system keeps it securely with the PCS DSS Level 1 license so users do not have to type in all the information for each purchase. There is also a PayPal payment option integrated into the system.

Additional application functions are listed below:

• Users can take photos of items and put it up for sale immediately; users can decide if they want to sell by auction or by the fixed-price option
• Users can follow the shopping process from mobile phones; users can rate the seller, leave feedback or start follow-up transactions
• Users can follow daily campaigns and sales from the main page of the application

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Together with tmob, we developed Turkey's largest app with 144 optional screens and more than 9 million listed products. It was a huge project and we trusted tmob to deliver the highest quality. tmob proved to be an excellent partner as customer satisfaction is really high. Only two weeks after the app was launched, 177 users rated it 4.7/5 on Google Play and 117 users rated it 4+/5 on the iTunes App Store.

ne is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey, operating domestic and international passenger services as well as charter flights, mostly out of its base at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

The company was  established on March 14, 2001 and started operations on June 1, 2001. Formerly known as Atlasjet International Airlines, the company was set up as a subsidiary of Oger Holdings. In 2004, ETS Group acquired a 45 percent stake, which was increased to 90 percent in February 2006 following the taking over of Oger's 45 percent holding. The company is led by its CEO Orhan Coşkun.

We wanted to be everywhere where our customers are. We believe in mobility, so we wanted to be on every platform possible.

SOLUTION

Tmob has developed a mobile website, tablet website, iPhone, iPad, Android, Android Tablet, Windows Phone, Windows 8, Nokia, BlackBerry, Samsung Smart TV, and native mobile applications.

We’ve worked together with tmob to develop the first functioning mobile airlines app in Turkey. As the app proved to be a success, we decided to work on many different platforms.

We were the first airline worldwide with an app suitable for all eleven mobile platforms. With tmob, we can offer our customers the best service based on the latest technological solutions, such as Passbook. Our apps have been downloaded 520,000 times and our mobile sales increased from 0.08 percent to 4 percent, which we consider a great success.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

The apps tmob have developed for Atlasjet received the best B2C [business-to-consumer] app award from Turkcell, the leading GSM operator in Turkey due to the fact that it’s the only airline app in the world that is compatible with 11 different platforms. The same project has appeared on blackberry.co.uk as a case study and became the launching app for Windows Phone 7 and the Windows 8 Tablet.

Atlasjet BlackBerry App is the first functioning airlines app in the world that is developed for BlackBerry. The first mobile app in Turkey that took the PCS DSS license; thus, it can store credit card information securely.

TeknoSA İç ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş. is a technology retailing company owned by Hacı Ömer Sabancı Holding A.Ş. We aim to provide consumers with the latest technology at the best prices and with high-quality service.

We started out with five stores in 2000, almost 300 TeknoSA stores currently offer services and products in 77 cities across Turkey. TeknoSA has shown stable growth in a relatively short span of 10 years. Further, thanks to its availability, quality of service, reliability, speed, and product diversification, it enjoys recognition as the most widespread technology retailer in Turkey.

TeknoSA today continues to increase service quality and diversity of products in its own business line with the support of almost 4,000 specialized employees, a far cry from the original 163 employees when the company was set up.
