We needed someone to help with this project who had a proven track record of quality deliverables at a reasonable price. Three Lyons had a great portfolio and offered at the right price point for us.

We hired Three Lyons to record a one-day conference, all the sessions for the day, and some customer interviews at the event. Three Lyons did a sight visit of our event location before the day to prepare. They recorded everything day of and then worked with us to edit final videos as we needed them.
Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?
We worked with the owner directly. The videos sent over needed minors edits and he and his team promptly turned around our edit requests until videos were finalized.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The presentations that were recorded are now on our website as gated content to generate leads. We will also use the client testimonials and event overview videos to promote our next event.

For what projects/services did your company hire Three Lyons Creative, and what were your goals?
Three Lyons took on the initial redesign of all graphics, development of a brand guide, a photographic style, color palette and finally development and production of 10 videos to tell the brand story.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
The primary factors were their past work with other non-profits, the level of interest to complete the work with flexibility and last, but not least, our chemistry was very important since we would work together for well over a year to create all work needed.

Before the videos we created Three Lyons had to do a deep dive into our programs to understand how they assist people with disabilities. Then, with my help, we went through the process of interviewing candidates, photographing them and determining (based on many factors) the final nine stories to be told. We added a tenth video as an omnibus agency story to introduce the tagline "Let's Close The Disability Divide" (which came from our other partner The Utmost Group).
Once the stories were determined, we worked closely to schedule each shoot so we could accomplish all nine in 3 days while traveling by cars between Detroit, Pontiac, Brighton, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Milford and Farmington Hills. All during the height of the pandemic. Once all images were captured on both video and stills, Three Lyons created the "look" for the imagery, then they began editing the Omnibus piece. This allowed us to get our website done (which they assisted on the initial designs). Once this piece was delivered I supplied them paper edits for the other 9 videos which were completed over the next 9 months. The final products are both emotional and informational.
Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?
On the design work, I partnered with Michale Williams who was both a talented designer but understood our mission and why some aspects were trickier than others. Flexibility and be able to work as a team was a must. He did this beyond our hopes. As did Tony Eggert. Tony was our main point of contact and really was always able to show calm in the face of the task we were asking for. He also showed the same flexibility and dedication. This was a very big project for us but for Three Lyons, it was not a huge financial reward but they stayed steady and professional until all the work was complete. We can say enough good about them.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
As far as intial outcomes, the work has allowed us to gain press and media reviews and has allowed the agency to use the stories in applying for and receiving grants. That will be an on-going process.

The management style was one of flexibility and professionalism. Work was done with the utmost care and completed with agreed to deadlines. I had spent 40 years as a creative director for a major ad agency so I was able to provide a fair amount of assistance where ever possible but they took on every portion fo the project with dedication and creative insight.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
For a small group, they balance their workflow extremely well. They take on projects that mean a lot to communities and those who the work is being done. The blend of design, artistic integrity, production savvy, strategic understanding and fiscal responsibility are a rare combination.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The only tough aspect was editing the project during the pandemic meant doing everything remotely which did lead to some restarts in a couple instances. But that was well beyond the control of either side and they rolled with the punches beautifully.

I’m the director of external relations at the Henry Ford Learning Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides programming for students.

What challenge were you trying to address with Three Lyons Creative?
We wanted to partner with a nimble media firm that had the temperament to work with kids and teachers as subjects in videos.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
The team has completed three separate video projects for us. For the first project, Three Lyons Creative filmed our summer camps and workshops for middle school students. They captured footage between two sites, dividing the project into separate seven- and three-day blocks over a month.
Most recently, the team shot an open-enrollment workshop we held in Detroit. The team did standup interviews during the six-hour event, which included 30–40 participants. Before Three Lyons Creative delivered the final 2-minute video, we request a minor audio tweak to increase sound clarity.

We always work with Tony (Filmmaker, Three Lyons Creative) and Dan (Audio and Tech, Three Lyons Creative). Our team has also interacted with Lucia (Partner and Creative, Three Lyons Creative).

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Three Lyons Creative is a good fit for our organization because they are able to enter an environment, quickly gain an understanding of the experience, and use that—along with our project scope and brand guide—to deliver a strong first cut. This demonstrates their ability to process lots of different information and tell a great story. The most recent video helped us secure a 5-hour workshop at a conference; this was one year after we had a 1-hour workshop at the same event. A true partner, the team offered to write a blog post for our website; they did this after applying skills from our workshops to their own business. Lucia’s blog post thrilled us.
How did Three Lyons Creative perform from a project management standpoint?
As we become a better-operating nonprofit, our team needs more in-depth contracts with partners. Their team is working on that as well. But Three Lyons Creative's communication skills are great overall.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They craft stories that are in line with our vision, mission, and purpose. What’s more, I had to leave the summer camp due to a family matter. But Three Lyons Creative was able to carry out the work flawlessly without supervision. They filmed great footage without disrupting any of the events. Also, Lucia featured our work when she did a presentation at a local industry event. That was incredibly nice of her.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything. Anecdotally, Three Lyons Creative recently released a new project inquiry form with great potential. I’m looking forward to seeing how it works.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Provide a brand guide and other identity up front to communicate your promise, purpose, and persona. Any nonprofit that only has a logo puts itself at a disadvantage when they enter into a creative partnership. The lack of branded material makes it harder to communicate the mission and vision.
