Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the product manager for a practice management service company. We offer accounting, human resources, IT, and business consulting mainly to oral surgery practices.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Third Eye Inc?

We’d developed our own web-based app with another vendor about seven years prior and needed to rewrite the app and make it more modern.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

During our first project more than 10 years ago, Third Eye Inc rewrote the entire practice management software and migrated it into .NET, a more modern framework and technology. They also redid the UI and created a fresh design. After doing a one-for-one rewrite of the functionality, they then went back and added new features.

Within the past year, they’ve updated the app again, improving the UI and cleaning up the code. They made it mobile friendly, so now our end clients can access the software on their iOS devices. Third Eye currently maintains the app.

Beyond that product, they’ve also helped with various other projects. They worked on an app to track time clock processing and time off for end users. They also created an accounts payable module where our clients can update invoices, mark them for payment, and scan copies. They’ve integrated products with third-party portals, allowing billing staff to review and post payments. Third Eye has been able to essentially develop any in-house tech solution that we need.

What is the team composition?

We work with a team of seven, including QA, dev, and project management.

How did you come to work with Third Eye Inc?

We’d hired an internal developer, and he’d worked with one of the managers at Third Eye. We interviewed two or three other companies but found Third Eye to have the best management, pricing, and skill set, so we hired them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $150,000–$250,000 a year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We initially partnered in September 2008, and we continue to engage with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their products have minimal bugs, and they quickly fix the ones that do exist. Their customer experience is amazing, and our end clients have always been pleased. End clients love that they can access the software from their iOS devices. Our internal team says positive things about working with Third Eye, and the new app is more modern and fresher. We’ve gone a couple of years without any downtime.

How did Third Eye Inc perform from a project management standpoint?

Their invoices are always accurate, and they provide a summary sheet that outlines who’s working on what projects. We maintain daily contact, and they provide plenty of documentation. They meet deadlines and respond to our tickets in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re responsive and conscientious, providing a consistent team that’s regularly updating their technical skills. They get excited by new projects and are an absolute pleasure to work with. Because the team lead is great at recruiting, they always have excellent talent that does high-quality work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of any ways they could improve.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Let them get as involved as possible because they’ll care about your project.
