A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of an innovation and training consultancy called Innovation Resources, Inc. I’ve been in the creativity innovation business for over 40 years and have written four books on the subject. There’s a fifth book coming out, too, which theBREWROOM is promoting.
What challenge were you trying to address with theBREWROOM?
When I first met Sam (Founder & Owner, theBREWROOM), I had a website built on Wix that I wanted to update. He offered to revise my website and has since helped me with my marketing needs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, I had Sam update my website along with two others before helping me go through some marketing changes. Since then, he’s been doing great work on my digital strategy. He manages all of my content and activity on LinkedIn and Facebook, writes blog articles, and organizes newsletters.
I currently have a new book coming out, and Sam has been a big help there, too. He’s recommended an art director and an editor to help me finalize everything for a September 2019 launch. We’re also working on two additional websites together.
What is the team composition?
I work directly with Sam and his team.
How did you come to work with theBREWROOM?
I met Sam at one of my creativity innovation classes and struck up a conversation with him. We hit it off, I told him that I needed support on my website and digital, and the rest is history.
How much have you invested with them?
I’ve spent upwards of $20,000 so far. I have them on a monthly retainer, so Sam just takes care of everything.
What is the status of this engagement?
He started working with me in January 2017, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I only have great things to say about Sam. He’s customer-focused, receptive to ideas, and just terrific to work with. Since having him take over my digital, I’ve definitely seen my social media presence and interaction grow. I’ll be speaking at a conference, and people will come up to me to comment on my online content. Sam has also nearly doubled our email list size.
How did theBREWROOM perform from a project management standpoint?
Sam is incredibly responsive via call or text. I try not to do this often, but I was eating lunch the other day and had recently made some changes to my home page. When I pulled it up on my phone, I noticed that the spacing was strange. I sent a screenshot to Sam, and he made the corrections within just 15 minutes.
I’m also grateful that Sam is a local provider, which means I can actually meet with him face-to-face. It’s crucial to have that sort of interaction, and I appreciate his over-the-top customer service.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Sam is a terrific guy with a great sense of humor. Not only is he fun and very easy to work with, but he also has great values. For example, because I’m in the creativity business, Sam won’t take on another client in my field. His ethics are terrific. He just wants to focus on working with me, and I’m sure the same goes for his clients in other verticals.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, nothing comes to mind. In the past, we used to have issues with the freelancers he’d work with. Sometimes they would come through for us, and other times they wouldn’t. Sam was cognizant of that and moved into an ad agency where he could leverage the full-time employees instead.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You should typically have an idea of what you want before you come into the project. But I’d also suggest being really open to Sam and his team. They know what’s going on and will steer you in the right direction. There have been times when he’d show me an option for my site that I’d never even considered before, and those changes end up being great. Finally, just be straightforward when communicating. Don’t say one thing when you’re really asking for something else.
theBREWROOM’s digital strategy has helped solidify the brand’s social media presence, almost doubling the email list sign-ups. Having proven themselves to be incredibly responsive and design-savvy, they’ve quickly established a loyal professional relationship with internal stakeholders.
