the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the digital marketing manager for a company based out of Massachusetts that makes biking, ski, and skate helmets and protective helmets for outdoor adventure sports. I do a lot of our social and web content.
What challenge were you trying to address with t/hawk digital?
We needed help optimizing all of our digital ads across various channels, from social media to Google. We also needed to optimize our website from an SEO perspective. Basically, we were looking for help getting all our digital channels in order.
What was the scope of their involvement?
t/hawk digital provides PPC and social media marketing (SMM). They’ve helped us optimize our digital ads across all social media and Google. Facebook and Instagram are our primary social media platforms, where they manage ad campaigns. t/hawk digital is a full-service arm in this space; they create content for our paid ads and help create blog content and website content. In terms of SEO, the team does keyword research and presents it to us.
Additionally, t/hawk digital has done a design overhaul of our website. They’ve completely changed the layout, focusing on making the site look appealing, presenting products clearly, and making it easy to navigate. The team has also ensured that the site works properly from an SEO standpoint.
What is the team composition?
I work closely with Tim (Managing Partner) and Stephen (Partner).
How did you come to work with t/hawk digital?
They were already working with the company when I was hired, so I’m unsure how we discovered them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around January 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
t/hawk digital presented a detailed plan for the Facebook and Instagram campaigns, targeting 3 million impressions by the end of the summer. We’re blown away by the results; they gathered 364,000 impressions in roughly a two-week span. As for the website overhaul, they’ve made everything look clean and easy to navigate while functioning correctly.
The team is super knowledgeable. We can tell that Tim and Stephen are veterans, and they’re great people to work with. We tell them what we want, and they figure it out — t/hawk digital is pretty self-sufficient, which is amazing. When it comes to questions, Stephen is my point person, and he’s always willing to share information with me and super quick to get answers.
Overall, the chemistry between our entire team and t/hawk digital’s team is unbeatable. They act as our in-house marketing team even though they’re an external agency. I can’t give them enough credit for jumping in and acting like members of our internal team.
How did t/hawk digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re awesome at communicating, meeting deadlines, and staying on budget. I can reach out to them any time of day, and they’re super quick to respond, whether by email or Slack. We email constantly, and I have a standing meeting with Stephen to go over all of our ongoing projects, and he’s super easy to make time with when we need more time. t/hawk digital has also added us to their ClickUp for task management, so we have complete visibility on all of the projects they’re working on, how far along they are, and the due dates. If there are any hold-ups, the team immediately lets us know so that we can come together and figure out a solution.
A month ago, the team came into the office and spent the entire day with us. We rolled up our sleeves and talked about ideas, and they gave us input about marketing and even product development. Overall, they’re incredibly on top of everything and a joy to work with.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed by how incredibly dialed-in t/hawk digital is from an SEO perspective. They came to us at a time when our site was rudimentary; we’re a 17-year-old company and tend to get stuck in our ways sometimes. When Tim and Stephen came in, they explained everything we could be doing better and why, which was a huge eye-opener. Thanks to them, our SEO is better than 2–3 years ago.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t really have any constructive feedback.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be open about the things you want to accomplish, even if you feel like your goals might be a bit lofty or you’re unsure if it’s possible. t/hawk digital has such smart people that they’ll find a way to get the results. No idea is ever unrealistic, and no goal is too lofty for them — you’ll be blown away with what they can do for you.

SEO: Rick’s Motorsport Electrics
THE CHALLENGE
Rick’s Motorsport Electrics was a respected retailer in the aftermarket motorsport parts industry, yet that success was not reflected in search engine rankings.
OUR STRATEGY
To tackle the challenge, we employed a two-part strategy:
- (1) Onsite Optimization
Make extensive onsite structural updates designed to unlock their wealth of business information. To this end, we dynamically restructured pages and metadata, and embedded specifically tailored schema markup to each product page. - (2) Link Building + Content Marketing
Upon completion of our onsite optimization, we designed and executed a laser-focused campaign consisting of white hat link building and content marketing for raising the website’s domain authority above that of the market leaders’.
THE RESULTS: Astonishing
- #1 Rank in Google for Highly Competitive, High Volume Keywords
- 189% 6-Month Increase in Traffic
- Rick’s Motorsport Electrics now owns the organic search rankings for nearly every major product keyword and numerous product categories. Moreover, the introduction of a wealth of long tail content has further positioned them as an authority in their space.
- At the time of publishing, Rick’s held the first position on Google, outcompeting the likes of Amazon, Ebay and a handful of larger competitors for highly sought after, high volume search terms.
_________
“When we were approached by Walmart, we asked them why they had approached us and they said it was because we were everywhere online, we couldn’t be ignored!”

Digital Marketing: Atlantic Beach Country Club
THE CHALLENGE
Under tight deadlines, the Atlantic Beach Country Club needed to quickly sell homesites for their new luxury home community in North Florida. However, the ABCC was effectively starting from scratch — no website, a brand new domain, and no online visibility or domain authority.
OUR STRATEGY
We employed a holistic approach that included:
- (1) A NEW WEBSITE LAUNCH
A site designed to effectively and efficiently convert online leads, including:- Onsite SEO: Optimization based on the most current, search engine friendly principals.
- Lead Funnels: Testing and implementation of streamlined user funnels.
- Complex Tracking: A dynamic tracking system for easily understanding visitor movement throughout the site.
- (2) A CUSTOM DIGITAL MARKETING PROGRAM
Building a high-quality sales pipeline, including:- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Custom SEO that included:- Keyword Analysis: A deep dive into search queries for terms with highest likelihood to convert.
- Competitive Analysis: Initial and ongoing competitive analysis.
- Optimized Content: Ongoing publishing of content informed by keyword research.
- Link Building: A link building campaign emphasizing high-quality and relevance.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
-
- Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
A custom PPC strategy and program that included:- Google Ads: Based on keyword research, developed a targeted campaign leveraging Google machine learning, ongoing analysis and optimization to continue to improve ROI over time.
- Facebook & Instagram Retargeting: Tagged site visitors in order to remarket to them across Facebook and Instagram.
- Ongoing Campaign Optimization: Running these campaigns, engendered a virtuous cycle of refinement resulting in a more and more focused, and effective campaign.
- Pay-Per-Click (PPC)
THE RESULTS: Sold Out
- Top 3 Spots: Ranked in top 3 spots in Google for their top keywords.
- 150% Increase in Traffic: Atlantic Beach Country Club was able to achieve rankings in the competitive new homes industry quickly, and completely sell out homesites in less than a year.

Digital Activation: Las Fantásticas Aventura
THE CHALLENGE
Drive awareness and purchase intent among US hispanic millennials for the launch of the new Ford Focus sedan.
OUR STRATEGY
Create a unique digital experience to drive audience engagement, including:
- (1) An Immersive Online Video + Gaming Experience
We created a wholly unique digital activation that featured an episodic series of video content and related games. The digital activation included the solicitation of audience script ideas for each episode. After selecting the winning script, we turned it into a video episode and bonus content, video games, and live action shorts. - (2) Digital Advertising Program
Additionally, we drove traffic to our online activation via multiple channels, including:
- Display Ads: Programmatic ad buys running display banners
- Google Ads: Keyword and display advertising to leverage Google machine learning, ongoing analysis and optimization.
- Facebook & Instagram Ads: Video and display social ads
THE RESULTS:
- 551,000 site visits
- 7,401 consumer story submissions — 81% submitted on mobile.
- 3.4 million increase in purchase intent among the target audience

Bern Helmets: DTC Digital Marketing
THE CHALLENGE
Despite a worldwide pandemic in 2020, for Bern Helmets, things weren’t all bad. With most brick and mortar retailers closed in the lockdown, consumers looking to purchase one of Bern’s cutting-edge low-profile helmets flocked to the company’s e-commerce site and online sales revenue spiked. The bad news, despite meteoric growth, Bern’s e-commerce business was still unprofitable and in need of fine-tuning.
OUR STRATEGY
Implement a World Class DTC Marketing Operation
When we took over, Bern’s DTC scenario was unsustainable. The brand had a small organic search presence, a conversion rate below industry standards, a low average order value (AOV) and an unsustainably high monthly ad spend and cost per conversion.
Our Approach:
- Conduct a Comprehensive Audit + Analysis: To better understand all contributing factors
- Introduce Sweeping Changes to Bern's E-Commerce Site: To reduce friction, improve core web vitals and content site wide
- Re-engineer the Buy Flow: To drive a higher conversion rate and AOV, we re-engineered the e-commerce workflow to improve the visibility and access to priority products, upgrades and accessories, and remove friction inhibiting conversion
- Implement Marketing Funnel Efficiencies: To reduce the average monthly ad spend and cost per conversion, we introduced advanced re-marketing workflows. With this improvement, social media ad spend fell a dramatic 70%, all without reducing the total share of conversions by social ads
- Introduce a Custom SEO Campaign: Introduced a custom SEO campaign to further lower the cost of revenue and increase profit margins
- Sunset Old Promotions: Identified and sunsetted old promotions no longer economical for the business
THE RESULTS: Game Changing
In Year 1, our digital marketing program delivered:
- 54% DTC Profit Margin Improvement
- 33%+ AOV Improvement
- 190% SEO Sales Revenue Improvement
- 400% Increase in Search Engine Brand Presence
- 98% Increase in Owned Keywords

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the managing partner of a law firm in Miami, Florida.
What challenge were you trying to address with t/hawk digital?
We wanted to modernize our website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
t/hawk digital redid our website to give it a more modern look; they took a look at our old site and used it as a blueprint for the new platform. They’re also doing SEO work and ensuring that our Google and Yahoo! listings are uniform across the board with the message we want to put forward.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with two members of their team, including Tim (Managing Partner) and Stephen (Partner).
How did you come to work with t/hawk digital?
We found them through a business networking organization in South Florida, and Tim had also worked with my brother.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve spent around $30,000 with them so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve increased our Google rankings and search terms; we’re in a very competitive field, but t/hawk digital’s team has managed to do everything on a smart-cost basis, so we don’t have to spend a lot of money every month.
How did t/hawk digital perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is very good; they’re communicative and make adjustments and suggestions to improve our processes, including tools and third-party services that deliver good returns. In terms of communication channels, we use Zoom and emails.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve enjoyed the fact that we have a collaborative partnership where I can suggest trying new services, and they’ll evaluate it and try it for a while to come back to me with feedback on whether it seems to be working or not. Overall, they’ve been really helpful in terms of consulting.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’d love them to get me to rank number one on Google search, but I know that’s an unrealistic expectation!
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be prepared to provide content for them to use. Also, provide constant feedback to have back and forth communication.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a customs brokerage that operates in both the international and US customs space. I’m the president.
What challenge were you trying to address with t/hawk digital?
We wanted to formalize our marketing services: align our branding and message and have a continuous, organized marketing approach.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We transitioned from knocking on doors to generate leads to creating a digital workflow. The solution t/hawk digital created takes information from one site, plugs it into another site to extract contacts, and then sends out emails with details about services to our current and potential clients.
They’ve also built our company website from scratch, integrating SEO principles along the way.
What is the team composition?
I worked with my account manager, but they had other people behind the scenes.
How did you come to work with t/hawk digital?
They were recommended to us by a friend while we were putting an RFP out. t/hawk digital’s previous work stood out for its organization, structure, and clarity. It seemed like they’d be able to follow through for us.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent just over $50,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together since September 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s hard to put your finger specifically on what drives increases in revenue, but we review our SEO number on a monthly basis, and we’ve tripled the amount of traffic we receive. We’ve also moved up from in the 100s to in the top 10 and top 20 search results in the case of some key terms.
How did t/hawk digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve performed consistently well. Organization and time management stand out. They address issues quickly and take accountability, even when the fault lies in something external.
We have a weekly Microsoft Teams meeting to recap what would happen that week. Other communication takes place over email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re open to new technologies and exploring new avenues. We feel very listened to by t/hawk and see that they follow through for their client’s requirements.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I’ve advised them on their creativity a few times, but with the caveat that our clientele is very niche. Getting to know our product and situation took some time, but they’ve since developed a better understanding of our business, reflected in the increasing quality of the content pieces they’re writing for us.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Stay involved and communicate as much as possible. t/hawk is very open to us, but we’ve delayed things because we have to review things. If the client takes initiative, then it will run smoothly. Make time in your schedule to review what you need to.

Branding & WordPress Web Dev for Digital Content Network
"It’s quite rare to work with an agency like theirs that knocks it out of the park at the first iteration."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of LoCo+. We are a digital content network for local creators such as filmmakers, musicians, artists, and series creators.
What challenge were you trying to address with t/hawk digital?
We’re a startup, and our product is very innovative and disruptive to the current media landscape, so it was important for us to create a logo and a brand story that we could go to market with. We brought in t/hawk digital at the ground level to help develop our branding and design our logo and website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I provided my ideas for the logo from a sentimental standpoint, but t/hawk digital translated all of that input into imagery. Their team also supplemented that initial input with their own due diligence. They looked into what colors would make our brand stand out and designed the logo that could stand on its own.
They continued to work with us closely as an extension of our team and proceeded to set up our website on WordPress.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with three people from their team.
How did you come to work with t/hawk digital?
I was first introduced to them for a small landing page project. They chose to help me even when they could’ve worked on bigger projects, which I appreciated. I enjoyed working with them so much that, when we wanted to go all-in with the branding, I took this project to them first.
How much have you invested with them?
All in all, we’ve invested about $75,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in February 2021, and we continue to work with t/hawk digital.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve launched the brand successfully, and they’ve played a big role in helping us be as well-positioned as possible. They went above and beyond and just put a lot of care into developing our logo. We could not be happier. I’ve built other companies before so I can say it’s quite rare to work with an agency like theirs that knocks it out of the park at the first iteration.
How did t/hawk digital perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve over-delivered. We have weekly calls and we communicate via Slack and email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What really impresses me about t/hawk digital is their exceptional communication. They have a wonderful leader who’s a great co-creator, and they’ve made the whole experience enjoyable.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there’s nothing they could improve on in our case.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Trust t/hawk digital and allow their team to work creatively. They’re a unique agency in that they bring in incredible creative pedigree and technical savvy.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the design director of a marketing agency in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
What challenge were you trying to address with t/hawk digital?
We hired t/hawk digital to provide web development services, as we don’t have in-house development resources.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We lean on t/hawk digital mostly for backend web development. We provide the initial concepts and designs for the websites via Sketch, InVision, and XD. They provide feedback and develop the sites using WordPress.
User registration for events has been a key feature for some of our smaller website projects. Users register via forms and receive automated email responses, so those projects have a database integration component.
t/hawk digital also developed a larger website for a new company completely from scratch. That website was very data-driven, with lots of animated graphics, information about the company, and downloadable white papers. We’re contracted with t/hawk digital for monthly hosting and maintenance for that larger site.
What is the team composition?
I work directly with Tim (Managing Partner), who oversees our projects, and Stephen (Partner), who handles the back-and-forth.
How did you come to work with t/hawk digital?
I worked with Tim years ago at another agency, and then he developed t/hawk digital, so we reached out to them about our web development needs.
How much have you invested with them?
Overall, we’ve spent under $50,000 with t/hawk digital. We initially spent about $10,000 for the larger website development project, with an ongoing scope of $500 a month. The two or three registration site projects they’ve developed were an investment of $2,000–$4,000 each.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began this ongoing partnership in June 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They’ve always met our expectations, and have sometimes gone above and beyond. We love working with t/hawk digital — that’s the reason we keep going back to them.
How did t/hawk digital perform from a project management standpoint?
Out of all the developers I’ve partnered with, t/hawk digital is the easiest to work with. They’ve delivered perfectly every time — we’ve never had any issues with their project management. They execute development work very quickly, and they’ve turned around some of those smaller event registration projects in 2–3 days.
A key component of our partnership’s success is that they understand our projects quickly, and they understand our needs so well that we’re able to communicate via shorthand. They give us feedback on our designs, so our partnership is a very collaborative experience. We communicate mostly through email and sometimes hold calls for bigger projects.
What did you find most impressive about them?
t/hawk digital’s execution is impressive. One I appreciate about working with them is that we hand over our designs, and the site comes back to us looking just like our design. They’re very detailed in the way they develop our sites. We’ve been surprised at times to find that they’re able to develop our design elements exactly as intended.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We haven’t had any issues whatsoever with t/hawk digital.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear with your ask — it’s always helpful to have a vision for what you want to create. t/hawk digital’s strength is in execution and collaboration, so enter the partnership with an idea of what you want and have all the pieces ready to go. They’ll take it from there.

"Their broad understanding of ever-changing technology and best practices have stood out in the partnership."

Please describe your company and your position there.
We are an alternative mutual fund company founded in 2004. I manage all digital marketing including design, production and compliance.
For what projects/services did your company hire t/hawk digital, and what were your goals?
We never had any real "best practices" and had been sort of winging it for a decade+. We found that the deliverability of our messaging was deteriorating along with the hygiene of our domain and that our web site was showing up as "dangerous" to visitors. We could not keep up with changing technology and requirements. We needed someone to come in and help from the bottom up
How did you select t/hawk digital and what were the deciding factors?
Long-time relationship with the owner, who had offered up advice over time. Decided to bring them on a retainer to fill a handful of holes we had
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The initial project was a standard web re-design process and Hawk allowed me to do as much of the work as I could (site mapping, UI, basic design look and feel input) as a way to save money. The web build was painless and their developers took over all the back-end WordPress management including all the plug0ins, etc that I never understood.
On an ongoing basis they are managing the site while improving SEO and content searchability and provide robust analytics on a monthly basis. Their developers can also fill in and do design and additional web build-out if we are too busy to do it ourselves. In parallel, they analyzed our email marketing process (which was broken), set up email aliases and built out alternative platforms for email marketing tools and CRMs.
Currently, they are building an API between our (outdateD) email marketing system and our (outdated) CRM to sync and store email activity that is critical for our makering efforts.
How many people from the t/hawk digital team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I have 2 points of contact at Hawk (my relationship manager / producer and my technology contact) but they utilize and manage a team of engineers, designers, writers and developers both domestically and abroad. It is very easy and quick communications.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We don't have any measurable ROI right now but based on the analytics, more of our content is reaching our prospects, traffic on our web site has improved and the site and links are all safe and secure.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Immediate responses from them and 100% willingness to just get stuff done. Even when we opted NOT to take their advice on certain things, they calmly pivoted to making what we already have/use better for us.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their broad understanding of ever-changing technology and best practices have stood out in the partnership. Their extremely reasonable fees and their responsiveness - by email, phone or text. They are truly an extension of our team
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
no. honestly no

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Rocket Pro Forma, a financial firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with t/hawk digital?
We needed help with graphic design for the pitch decks we create for startup companies.
What was the scope of their involvement?
t/hawk digital has been helping us create terrific designs for the startups we work with that are customized to exactly the way our customers want them to look. Their work includes color schemes, digital materials, designs, presentation templates, infographics, and social media thumbnails, among other materials.
Regarding the process, they come up with three examples and design ideas for our customers based on their directions. From there, our customers give feedback on the designs so t/hawk digital can develop a final product. After that, I provide t/hawk digital with 15–20 slides so they can go through them and lay them out according to the design we agreed on. We also get on a phone call with the client to understand the heart of what they're looking for in terms of graphic design — they customize everything accordingly.
In addition to that, they’ve also done digital marketing on YouTube and other social media platforms.
What is the team composition?
We’ve been working with Tim (Managing Partner) and Stephen (Partner).
