I'm the founder of Alisia.ai startup

For what projects/services did your company hire Tezeract, and what were your goals?

We needed a web development agency to help us build out the first iteration of our AI platform

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

After doing detailed research we shortlisted 3 vendors who were providing the service we wanted among which we picked Tezeract because their expertise matched our use case and they had an amazing portfolio.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We wanted a file management system for multiple organizations. We provided them with the UI theme we had for Alisia, They understood the whole project workflow and divided it into different development stages. They built a system that had a hierarchy of admin, users, files, and folders implemented with an OCR detection and search functionality. The files could also be downloaded to the device.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Firstly, Tezeract founders were our main source of contact but then their project manager, development team lead, and the development team collaborated with us to provide the best results.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They developed a file management app that contains OCR detection and Search functionality which is very helpful and unique. Apart from that the application also had a super admin app that made it super easy to supervise all the data & events happening.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We had 2 weekly catchups to discuss each sprint. One at the start up the week to discuss the results of the last sprint and one on friday to discuss any problems we faced when testing the solution.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were most impressed by the fact that their team never passes by the deadlines and always delivered the deliverables on time. They collaborated with us at different stages of product development and were ready to accept the changes we required in our application

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only area of improvement would be on the testing side of things. We found a number of bugs right after some features had been tested by the team.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of Open Mic On Education, a video production company that caters to schools here in the United States.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tezeract?

We wanted to give our clients, who are educators in schools, the ability to create their own videos. We needed a company that could develop a platform that gives our clients the end-to-end ability to create their own videos about the interesting things they're doing in their classrooms or that are happening in their school district.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Tezeract to develop a digital asset management system for end-to-end video management. They used React platform for the frontend, and the backend is Django and Python. 

The system allows users to upload media that they've recorded in their classrooms using their phones and invite other people to upload media to their projects. The system uses artificial intelligence to extract the best bits of the uploaded media and piece them together into a theme that the user is looking for. It will then ultimately give the user a finished video for them to review, approve, and then publish to social media or whatever other channels they prefer. 

Once Tezeract has built the system, they also handled its deployment. They’re currently in charge of keeping the system maintained and backed up and dealing with emergencies that arise.

What is the team composition?

We work with four people from Tezeract, including a project manager, a backend developer, a frontend developer, and an AI specialist.

How did you come to work with Tezeract?

I found Tezeract through a freelancing platform. I’ve already worked with two other firms and spent a substantial amount of money on developing this platform over the course of three years, only to have a barely functioning product.

So, right when I found Tezeract, I gave them a brief description of the project. My first interaction with them was very favorable in that they came back to me with quite a comprehensive quote. Rather than providing me with a dollar amount, they were very specific in terms of how they would approach the problem at hand and the hours that it would take. They specifically enumerated the team members who would be working on each part of the proposal.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $55,000–$60,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
 

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The system has enabled us to do more work with the same number of people. Because of this increase in our efficiency, we’ve been able to go from six to 11 clients, effectively increasing our client base by 40%–50%.

How did Tezeract perform from a project management standpoint?

Tezeract takes project management very seriously. They are so disciplined when it comes to setting goals — they never miss a management call or our weekly sprint meetings. They always do everything they say they will, and even if they are not able to, they immediately tackle what they missed the following week.

We primarily communicate through Slack, Trello, and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with Tezeract’s robust team and extensive pool of resources. They have everything at their fingertips — no matter what need comes up, they can always address it. Another one of their strengths is their expertise in both video and artificial intelligence. Their deep knowledge of natural language processing and object detection was definitely one of the most unique and valuable things they’ve brought to the table.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I only wish they had better audio equipment.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Let them manage the project and go for the full partnership arrangement at a flat monthly fee, and you’ll get the benefit of their full capabilities.

I’m the CEO of a sports AI platform company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tezeract?

We needed a development team to execute our sports AI platform concept; we wanted a team that could take high-level direction from us while developing the product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tezeract has worked on taking my high-level concept to full implementation. We’ve done several iterations and reviews along the way. Our team does the UI definition, while their team handles the implementation. The project involves an app, a UI design, and some video AI functionality. The product is a mobile app with a cloud-based platform available for Android and iOS devices. It’s built on AWS, and we’ve used various programming languages to build it, such as React Native. For the database, we use MongoDB, among others. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 5–7 people, including developers and graphic designers. 

How did you come to work with Tezeract?

We found Tezeract on Upwork. Initially, we gave them small test projects to see how our engagement would go. Our team liked what we saw, so we continued to expand the relationship.

Our investment is close to $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement started in May 2021, and the partnership is ongoing. 

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

So far, our app is responsive and its features are working properly. We haven’t implemented our full-feature set yet, and we’re continuing to gather feedback from end users. These users have been happy with our product; they get value out of it. 

This shows that our solution and platform are good, and the app quality is sufficient. We’ve experienced issues along the way — we’ve had buggy releases — but we’ve only had to send reports to solve such issues. 

How did Tezeract perform from a project management standpoint?

Tezeract’s project management is great. We’ve had some ups, downs, and delays, but they deliver on time. Our main communication channel is Slack. We also have different channels and rooms where we can talk about issues and document them. Moreover, the Tezeract team has a bug-tracking tool that looks like an agile dashboard. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their willingness to take any problem, break it down, and get through it is impressive. They communicate well with me, and we’ve built up trust over the past year.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re small, so they need to scale up over time.

Document and specify clearly what Tezeract needs to do. This will lead to better results.
