Web App Dev & Design for Data Science Consulting Firm
the project
"They provided professional talent and quick deliveries at an affordable price.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO for MFG Analytic, a data science consulting firm that operates as the technology arm and spinoff of another consulting firm in the manufacturing space. We do a lot of statistical model-building and process modeling.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tevpro?
By being in the manufacturing space, we deal with a lot of clients that might already have the capabilities to do some of the things we do, but they don’t have the knowledge of how to do modeling. Most of these companies still rely on old ways of modeling like Excel, so we saw an opportunity for improvement. Therefore, we decided to hire Tevpro to create a web app for modeling.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Tevpro helped us take what basically was an Excel model and turn it into a web app with more functionality for data modeling. Initially, we went through a discovery phase, during which we discussed the scope of work and mapped out the process step by step to ensure we weren’t missing anything.
After that, we met with Tevpro to talk about what we needed to do to make this tool a reality. This part of the process included figuring out how to work with data science, how to capture that data, and how we would connect it.
Once we had the entire scope mapped out, we started looking at what technologies we could use to build the solution. Ultimately, we used C# for the backend and some type of JavaScript for the frontend that eventually got updated to Angular. Tevpro was also in charge of the design process; one of their designers joined the team and designed the app.
What is the team composition?
I worked with three people from Tevpro, including Cortney (Senior Marketing Manager), who was our main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Tevpro?
We were referred to them and took it from there. During the vetting process, we also got quotes from other companies. Still, Tevpro’s proposal was very competitive by matching the price range we had budgeted and giving us an idea of the potential result, so we decided to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $80,000–$90,000 in total.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from March–September 2013. Tevpro delivered the MVP within three months and the full app in six months.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The web app built by Tevpro was able to capture a lot of value for our client, and its quality was top-notch. After we launched the MVP version, the client was already using it, and eventually, they ended up saving over $20 million a year with it. Therefore, it was incredibly successful for them and for us. Overall, they were an incredible company to work with, and we would use them again.
How did Tevpro perform from a project management standpoint?
Tevpro basically became part of our team and embedded themselves into our process seamlessly. They were always very professional, especially when C-level members of our company joined our meetings.
Additionally, Tevpro set clear expectations and showed us what we would get from them from the beginning, so we always knew what was next. Throughout the project, they met every deadline right on, if not ahead of time. Their estimates were very conservative, and they ended up exceeding expectations.
Tevpro’s communication was also top-notch, which was one of their biggest strengths related to project management. We usually communicated via phone and email. Whenever we found bugs, which happened very few times, we contacted their help desk, and they were very responsive. They got back to us almost immediately and fixed those issues quickly. They also gave us frequent updates and ensured to be on top of everything else we needed.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Tevpro’s talent is outstanding. The people I worked with were bright, and the work they did and the speed at which they did it were impressive. In general terms, they provided professional talent and quick deliveries at an affordable price.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything Tevpro could have improved on. If anything, it would have been great if, years after our engagement ended, someone from their team could have checked in with us for some updates. They’ve missed out on some of the things we’ve done after working with them, but I understand that they might be busy with other projects.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Ensure you have a fully fleshed-out scope for your project because you’ll be going over it again, so it will help you save time and money.

Legacy Migration of an Oracle Database
Tevpro was hired to perform an Oracle database conversion to Microsoft SQL. We specialize in enterprise data management solutions and give clients the ability to store, process, analyze, and act on their data in a timely fashion.

Migrating Legacy Apps to Microsoft Azure Cloud
OMI was facing major security risks running legacy web servers that were outdated and no longer receiving updates. They needed to modernize their hardware and operating systems to mitigate vulnerabilities, and do so, with minimal downtime and disruption for their customers.
OMI selected Tevpro in their legacy modernization efforts to move outdated applications onto current Windows Server releases and migrate into the Microsoft Azure Cloud.
Tevpro wanted to provide unprecedented speed, volume of data, security, and ultimately, business value through cost and time savings. We knew that moving to the cloud would be a big win for OMI in terms of cost savings and reduced maintenance time, but even we were shocked by some of the findings after successfully migrating to Microsoft Azure Cloud.
At Tevpro, we don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach when it comes to the tools and technology we recommend for our clients. Not every business case requires a move to the cloud and in some instances we can breathe new life into your current legacy system.
If you're considering modernizing your legacy applications, contact us. We'd love to be apart of your journey.

Preowned Bike MarketPlace and App
When America's most loved motorcycle brand wanted to connect bike inventories from over 700 franchise dealerships into one single Marketplace, they turned to Tevpro for help.
We engineered sophisticated #data integrations to connect #disparate inventories into one cohesive platform using #Azure Service Bus, #Kubernetes, #Redis, and MongoDB.
We made it easier for you to find the motorcycle of your dreams!

Modernizing Legacy MS Access Databases
Our client utilized a 20+ year-old Microsoft Access application to handle critical internal accounting processes. The original developers were nowhere to be found and maintenance was a constant challenge - unfortunately, the complexity of the application meant a simple conversion was not possible and it must be rewritten in modern technology. The application relied on intricate interest calculations and financial modeling that required Tevpro’s accounting and financial expertise.
Approach
Tevpro was hired to re-platform the legacy MS Access application to a modern web app. The client provided a copy of the current application to reverse engineer as no design documentation existed from the original developers.
Tevpro’s team quickly got to work rewriting custom VB code and migrating Access tables into SQL. Our team recreated queries, forms, and reports to deliver a TypeScript/Node application based on NestJS backend and Angular/Bootstrap front-end in half the time and budget of previous proposals.

Unifying Finance with OneStream Implementation
Tevpro was selected to provide OneStream implementation services. Phase One of the project included utilizing OneStream for account reconciliations as well as close management and consolidations.
Phase two of the project included workforce planning and reporting as well as an additional roll-out of people planning and reporting capabilities and solutions, along with remediation of account reconciliations and transaction matching.

Transforming Legacy Microsoft Access Databases and
Summary
Transforming Microsoft Access banking applications, combining disparate systems, and increasing operational efficiencies through legacy software modernization.
Approach
Tevpro was hired to re-platform and re-architect the legacy MS Access application to a modern web application. The client provided a copy of the current application to reverse engineer as no design documentation existed from the original developers.
Tevpro’s team quickly got to work rewriting custom VB code and re-architecting Access tables into SQL. Our team recreated queries, forms, and reports to deliver a TypeScript/Node application based on NestJS backend and Angular/Bootstrap front-end in half the time and budget of previous proposals.
The old application utilized separate access databases for Savings accounts and Trust accounts and required users to duplicate efforts in each system. Tevpro was able to combine these databases into a single database, giving them a single source of truth and less redundancy.
Applying modern finance principles, Tevpro developed beneficial guardrails for the application to prevent user error and lockdown accounting periods after the month-end close.
Final Thoughts
Do you have an existing banking application that needs support or your business has outgrown the application completely? Tevpro developers can help you modernize your legacy software, combine disparate systems, and revolutionize what's possible by re-architecting your application to the web or cloud.
Which legacy application is your company holding onto that could be preventing you from operating more efficiently? Tell us about your application challenges. We’d love to hear from you.
