SaaS Platform Development for Digital Marketing Agency
“They’re able to take everything that we want and implement it quickly.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a few businesses. My main business is a digital marketing agency focused on building advertising campaigns for our clients, who are mostly in the SaaS industry. Then, we also have multiple smaller-sized businesses where we build out the tools and SaaS products that we provide to our customers.
What challenge were you trying to address with TensionX?
We’ve been creating licenses for clients to distribute and sell our SaaS products. Given that, we came up with the idea of taking all of our smaller products under a single platform where people could sell our software products. We hired TensionX to create that platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Before the project even began, we made a few phone calls and did a discovery session with one of the TensionX team members. Then, we had a strategy session where we spoke about the product in detail. We came up with a specific plan to develop the platform.
On top of that, we’ve had many conversations with them where they basically described to us the best ways to get our SaaS products out there. While they don’t head those marketing campaigns, we definitely consult them on the best ways to do the marketing ourselves.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager who keeps me updated through the whole cooperation. I’ve also been introduced to the rest of the team and everybody else who’s going to be involved in the project.
How did you come to work with TensionX?
We did some research and went to a lot of channels, such as Upwork and Google, as well as referrals. We found TensionX on Google and on Clutch. When we saw their profile, we checked them out. During the discovery session, we found out that we had an opportunity to work together.
I was then offered a strategy session, which was actually a 90-minute phone call, to speak about the product in detail and come up with a plan. By the end of that session, I already had no doubts in terms of signing up with them. I liked their process and the way they approached the project, which made me feel like everything was possible, so I hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested about $120,000 on TensionX for this project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in August 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. We’re now six months into the project.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We were able to have a soft launch within the first two months of signing up with them — this alone is extremely impressive. When we started, I didn’t even think that we could have a soft launch by now.
Overall, I’m truly impressed with everything that TensionX has been able to do. The product is fully functional now, and we’re making sales. We’re also growing our monthly recurring revenue (MRR) on a month-over-month basis. On top of that, we’ve already mapped out features for the next four quarters.
How did TensionX perform from a project management standpoint?
TensionX is good at communicating. Typically, our communication is through Zoom or email. We speak primarily through email for smaller things, but they always give me the opportunity to book a call and chat if I want more clarification on anything. I’ll simply request a meeting or get a calendar link at a time that works for me and go from there.
Moreover, they send us detailed reports every single week and break down everything that has been done and what’s going to be done the following week, including strategies for moving forward.
What did you find most impressive about them?
TensionX is very self-sufficient. I always try to keep the back-and-forth meetings to a minimum; the less I have to be involved in a project that I’m outsourcing, the better. Given that, I find it enlightening that they’re able to take everything that we want and implement it quickly. For instance, we only had a strategy session and a couple of one-hour revision meetings to ensure everything was right, and that was basically it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. I have nothing bad to say about them. I’m a strict person when it comes to software development, and I’ve had some questionable experiences in the past, where people did projects off the cuff. However, TensionX has been organized. I’ve been amazed at the way they handle communication and delivery. They’ve produced results way ahead of when I thought they would.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Trust TensionX. They’ll ask you questions, perform assessments, and then provide you all the information you need to make decisions. They’re extremely talented and experienced not only in software development but also in understanding business concepts such as marketing, SaaS products, product handling, and customer retention.
As a result, all you need to do is come to them with an idea of what you want. Then, they’ll guide you on what they need from you and how to deliver the project within the parameters you give. In our engagement, I have the confidence that they genuinely want to help me from the very beginning, and that hasn’t changed.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am an assistant to the loan officers. I help prequalify their future customers and sell them on the company interest rates.
For what projects/services did your company hire TensionX, and what were your goals?
I had to come out of pocket to have this company help me with a personal problem to keep my job.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I thought this company and their leader would be the only ones that understood the situation and had a solution. I went to at least 20-30 others that turned me down because they didn't know how to help me.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They were able to automate a program to capture leads as they came in to claim first then that way I was able to be the first one to be called for the leads.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I only spoke with the CEO and that was it.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
They were quick and kind everything was better than I imagined it was going to be like.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
It was wonderful very well organized and communicated for every step of the way.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive is the experience and knowledge they have about business and tech.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Not at all 110%
