I’m the co-founder of a software company that sells subscription-based apps and computer software.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tecxar Consultants?

A few years ago, we originally had an idea for an iOS application. We didn’t have much experience developing software or knowledge about the process required to develop an application, so we found Tecxar Consultants (Tecxar).

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tecxar built the iOS app from scratch, which later expanded into multiple applications. They basically did everything for us — they were involved in the design, and they developed the backend, administrative dashboards, and API deployment.

Initially, we provided most of the content, but the app has evolved and drastically changed over the years.

What is the team composition?

It has changed over the years, but on average we’re in contact with 2–3 people. Sonia (CEO) is the project manager, and the other team members have been developers and designers.

How did you come to work with Tecxar Consultants?

We actually first met them on Upwork. We had hired a different developer who ended up scamming us, so we had lost faith in the entire project. We came across them, and they helped us restore our faith a little bit. We saw their portfolio, but honestly, we were just lucky to end up working with them instead of other developers out there.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $250,000–$500,000 in this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started developing the initial app in October 2017, and we launched it in January 2018.

When we first hired them, we didn’t expect it to be a long-term project, but it’s been four years and we’re still working on it.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have exact numbers, but we now have a well-known brand with thousands of subscribers and happy customers.

How did Tecxar Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

Sonia is the one that handles the scheduling, to-do list, and so on. At the start of every week, we go over our weekly objectives and tasks, and then we complete them. When it comes to creating objectives, setting a timeline, and planning what we’ll do in the near and long-term future, it’s all done pretty easily and on schedule.

To keep in touch, we mostly use Skype, but there have been phone calls. We have contact with Sonia and the developers.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Considering where we started years ago, I would’ve never thought our app would have the stuff it has now. Whenever we need something new or out-of-the-box, even if they don’t really know what it is or how to do it, Tecxar always seems to find a way to figure it out and get it done. There really hasn’t been anything they couldn’t handle.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can think of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Just be clear and specific on the tasks and objectives you want. They’re great at following directions to the dot, so the clearer you are, the more exact they'll be at delivering what you asked for.

I’m the CEO of a UX-centric digital agency that focuses primarily on frontend design. We help develop different applications for both web and mobile.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tecxar Consultants?

We were facing various initiatives that required a wide range of skills. We primarily relied on Tecxar for their strengths in business analysis and research. We’ve used Tecxar’s data analysis to provide feedback, which is then relayed to both development and UI teams so that they can write requirements.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We recently had a website redesign project. Tecxar was instrumental in helping us flesh out the third-party client’s business and technical requirements. They took the client’s goals and turned them into executable requirements, which were given to our development team. They collaborated with our team, our third-party client, and another third-party developer we rely on.

They supported us through the entire development lifecycle. They contribute to (and often own) the testing processes, such as unit testing, regression testing, and QA testing. They help train the client on particular features and functions being implemented. They provide documentation for that work as well.

I worked with 1–2 people from their team.

How did you come to work with Tecxar Consultants?

I believe we found them on UpWork. In speaking with Sonia (CEO), I was impressed by her intelligence. She’s very smart and has no problem seamlessly picking up on requirements. Although UX research was outside of their team’s scope of expertise, she quickly adopted our language and understood how to translate functional requirements into things that we need from a UI perspective.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2016 and have an ongoing relationship.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to their work, we’ve noticed a significantly smoother interaction with the UI. Sonia excelled at collaborating with the client and translating their business needs into functional requirements. Our third-party client would typically be very demanding, and Sonia would graciously break their needs down.

The biggest impact they’ve had has been their ability to pull our many different teams together. Sonia streamlined the development process by serving as a consolidated source of information, especially regarding the website we were building.  

How did Tecxar Consultants perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve integrated them into our team. They seamlessly participate in that process and provide daily updates while adhering to our scrum infrastructure.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed by Sonia’s eagerness to learn. I’ve interacted with many providers who simply show that they’re already familiar with your requirements. Sonia was refreshingly inquisitive and curious about our work. She showed that she was interested in who we are and the details behind the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not off the top of my head. They did a very good job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Definitely make sure to clearly explain what needs to occur. They’re excellent at soaking information up, so don’t hesitate to provide them with details.

For what projects/services did your company hire Tecxar Consultants, and what were your goals?

We hired Tecxar for website development and Mobile app development. Our goal was to have a neat/clean, easy to understand site for the client.

SOLUTION

How did you select Tecxar Consultants and what were the deciding factors?

We checked with a few companies for our project. We send them a query with our requirements. We spoke on phone with a few of them as well. And we decided Tecxar as they replied positively and professionally to all our queries.

After understanding our requirement, Tecxar made a sample website on WordPress. After going through the website and the mobile app, we requested a few changes as they has developed the site very well. They suggested a few changes, which we found very helpful and that made our site and app more attractive.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were 3 staff appointed for our project, from junior level to middle level and upper level manager. I could easily contact the upper manager, but it was never required as the junior and the middle level mangers, did the job I requested for.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have a seen a increase in our business as we are getting more clients through the app and the website. Our clients now can easily place the orders without a hassle and the payment system is just great and so easy.

Tecxar had a clear and distinct jobs for their staff. The junior manager would update us regularly with the progress and ask for feedback and suggestions. They always maintained their timeline and schedule. If there was any delay them the middle manager would contact us and explain

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was impressed with the insight they had about my profession, it seemed they had studied about my kind of business prior to our engagement. And they seemed always ready to go the extra mile.

I am so impressed that there is nothing I can recommend them to improve on
