They’ve adapted to some of the platforms we use, such as Slack, and we’ve also communicated by email and weekly meetings. The project management has been pretty efficient, probably a 9 out of 10.

We don’t have a client-supplier relationship, but one of the partners. They’ve been deeply involved in the project and we’ve felt a great level of support from their side. They took the project on as their own.

Technogi’s team really developed the whole platform during 4 months. Their main objective was to finish on time and they did it. They used technologies such as JavaScript and Java.

We wanted to allow candidates to upload their profiles and then complete an assessment that would increase their chances of finding a job. We would provide the flexibility to match various vacancies to their skills. Our website would provide companies a place where they could post their job openings and find the most appropriate candidates according to their needs. In this way, candidates and companies could find the best match between a job seeker’s skills and the company’s requirements.

The project took about 24 months. The work has been recently completed.

[My company produces] a computer-based educational software that, with constant use, allows the student to correct bad habits during the reading process. It uses a set of controlled exercises and a patented [program] to train the student to improve reading fluency and comprehension.
What is your role at the company?
I am the general manager responsible for all aspects of business and product development including, but not limited to, software and IT [information technology] support systems, program content and user experience, product promotion, and sales.
What was the business challenge that you were trying to address when you approached Technogi?
Initially, we needed a reporting application to present the results of a pilot project with nine private schools in Mexico for more than 700 test students. After that, we brought them on to handle updates and development of our full software package.
What were your company’s business goals for the project?
Our goals were to recreate a previous version of the software to be stable and scalable for increased use and continuous upgrades. The Reports application would need to have access to the existing software database and servers, we needed to facilitate the transfer of info and credentials.

After being introduced to the Technogi team, I asked them for a proposal for the reports application. Their proposal was well presented and organized. Their rates were competitive and their turnaround was impressive. Based on their performance with the Reports application, we invited them to submit a proposal for the development of a new software product for us.

The Reports application project was in the range of $5,000 and was delivered in less than a week. The complete project for software development has been quoted by several firms at a range of $198,000 to $290,000 and with an estimated completion duration of eight to 12 months.

The Reports application updates were delivered in less than a week. The larger effort of designing and developing the software will continue to be an ongoing project as new versions are developed and new features are upgraded.

The Technogi team succeeded in creating an appropriate application that could be integrated with existing software in record time. The application was easy to use and did the job it was meant to do.

Please provide a description of your company.
We are a nonprofit test administrator for Mexican students. Our primary function is to administer over 2,000 different tests per year to more than 3 million test takers. Our 20-member board of trustees includes principals and presidents of public and private universities as well as presidents of Mexico’s two university associations and heads of professional and trade associations.
What is your role at the company?
I'm the chief information officer.
What was the business challenge that you were trying to address when you approached Technogi?
Technogi has worked on several projects for us. One involved configuring the online system requirements to the actual ITC infrastructure installed in our clients' facilities.
Can you talk about the scope of the project?
Most of our clients who demanded online testing services weren’t meeting the required network standards to administer them. With the offshore module, we could send a local server with the system that overrides the network standards. With this new module, we increased our concurrent capability in almost 100,000 tests administered. Technogi helped us in implementing these systems.
What was your process for selecting Technogi with which to work?
We conducted market research to understand the scope of the project and what IT [information technology] companies could handle it. We sent RFPs [request for proposals] to several different firms and our acquisition committee decided that Technogi would give us the most value for our money. Since then, we've engaged Technogi for several other projects based on their past demonstrated performance with us.

All the projects developed with Technogi had more or less the same effort required by the scope defined. In terms of time, the projects were calculated in five to six months and the investments made were $55,000 to $60,000.

The project was completed in November 2014.

The results have been very positive. We gradually implemented the new system, so that we had administered 15,000 tests in July 2014 and 22,000 tests in December 2014. As with any new “technology,” it takes a few months until all proctors were trained and feel safe using this new module. While we did find some non-critical bugs, they were fixed without any complaint.
