BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of Mio Design, a 360-degree marketing consultancy that helps clients in India (B2B, B2C) manage their communication with stakeholders and consumers.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TechMerch Innovations?

We had technical tasks we needed to complete while we were developing the communications layer. We knew what we needed to do in terms of website development and had certain information to collect. We needed someone had both website development and database management skills.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TechMerch helps us with applications and websites, as well as database management systems for external stakeholders and consumers. We knew what we wanted in terms of functionality. We built an online portal for a leading art gallery in India in the form of a website that displays art pieces. It submits a reflection online which we can share on various social media platforms in order to monitor interaction. TechMerch handled the entirety of the development for that project. They’re currently developing a mobile app for us.

What is the team composition?

I communicate with their CEO, a project lead, and two open source developers.

How did you come to work with TechMerch Innovations?

My colleague knew TechMerch’s CEO and recommended them. TechMerch helped me solve a problem with another company, which is why we started a long-term relationship with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent 4.5 million rupees ($69,300 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2014 and the relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our client loves the way the new website looks. The art gallery website shows up in search results for art galleries in India and is very reliable.

They usually deliver exactly what we need. We have multiple meetings in order to completely understand each other and to determine functionality. My reputation with the client suffers if we compromise functionality, so we have to deliver on what I discuss with them. TechMerch has been able to execute everything without issue. Their cost is also good for all parties involved.

How did TechMerch Innovations perform from a project management standpoint?

I have nothing to complain about with their project management. There are certain things that have taken longer than expected, causing us to have to speed up to meet the deadline. We’ve worked together on those things. There have been quite a few projects where they’ve worked overnight to deliver on time. I’ve never had an issue with them not meeting deadlines. We use email, phone, and file sharing. They also do beta testing. We just recently started using a project management tool.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I sometimes have to reinforce what needs to be done. They could improve their attention during the first round of a project, but their team usually gets it right in the end.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give a lot of detail in the briefing session around what you need and what the functionalities are. Once the tech team understands that, they’ll get it right. They’ll deliver on what they promise.
