Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CTO of an engineering and development firm. The main things we do is cloud computing, mobile application development, and work with AI.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TechCreatix?

We have five partners here, so if our work gets to be too much, we reach out to TechCreatix to alleviate some of our workload.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They have developed two mobile apps with us in the past, and they currently work with us in developing a ridesharing app for one of the companies we work with. It's an app for schools to transport students and send messages to parents as the bus drives. Parents can see the bus live on the map, and we've expanded to over 800 school buses so far.

TechCreatix helped us create the whole app and incorporated the different APIs. We’re currently working to create some kind of payment system and attach it to the local businesses to give parents an incentive to send their kids to school. We have a point of sale that we developed in conjunction with PayPal, and they also helped us with that.

One of their biggest contributions came at a time where you couldn’t do payments through the app according to Apple. They were instrumental in helping us solve that issue. Since most of our apps are used by businesses and most of them use iOS, the app is built for iOS.

There are four people on their team.

How did you come to work with TechCreatix?

We posted a job on Guru. We told the companies who responded that they needed to show us that they can do the work for our cost. We chose TechCreatix because they’re one of the best. They met our coding standards and were very responsive when it came to customer service.

How much have you invested with them?

We have spent $30,000-$40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2014 and the work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We are focused on how good their coding is. They work diligently and deliver work that meets our standards. One of the key factors is that we never run into any progress-halting problems when we release anything.

How did TechCreatix perform from a project management standpoint?

They always assign a project manager, but project managers aren’t particularly techy. Often, we prefer to speak to the CTO. They’re very responsible. I like that I can call and talk to them, even on their cell number.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They way they respond to customer feedback is different from what we’ve seen anywhere else. I don’t know how big their team is, but the team we work with is incredibly responsive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They follow a traditional model. When you give them a project, they create a document and assign a project manager. We’ve moved away from that. It’s not a bad reflection on them, but it’s just that we don’t function that way anymore. When the projects come, it’s a daily meeting, progress, agile way of doing things.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure your requirements are solid. They are going to code whatever you tell them to code.
