Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Washington Jazz Arts Institute, a music education nonprofit organization.
What challenge were you trying to address with TDB Marketing?
I have had to take care of a lot of the background needs of my organization by myself, because I haven’t had the budget to bring in external help. We needed to establish our presence on the internet and help create our website, so I began looking for help once we got some room in the budget.
What was the scope of their involvement?
TDB Marketing fully built our website, and they also made suggestions about the content that needed to be online. Most importantly, their web design focused on making it easy to donate to our organization. Whenever we wanted to add something to the site, we would send it to them and they would get it online very quickly. They also did some digital marketing work for us, aimed at increasing our web traffic.
What is the team composition?
I worked directly with two team members: the founder and an associate on the team.
How did you come to work with TDB Marketing?
I already knew the founder of the company, and I had seen her work through a previous engagement. I was confident that they could work well with us — more importantly, I was confident that we would be able to communicate well.
What is the status of this engagement?
I started working with TDB Marketing in early 2018, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The quality of their work is excellent, and their communication is also incredible. They’ve been very good about getting our resources online in a very timely fashion. We’ve seen that a lot more people are willing to donate online, so having clear donation links on our website has been a huge help for us.
How did TDB Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been very detail-oriented, which is great. Whenever we hosted our events, TDB Marketing made sure to dot all their i’s and cross their t’s. They were also great about not leaving outdated information online. We communicated primarily by email, but their team would pick up the phone and call me if necessary.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What was most impressive to me was their communication and their integrity. It’s rare to work with someone who will get back to you quickly and understand what you are talking about. Whenever they said that they were going to do something, they always did it —any hold-ups were on my end.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think so, I really appreciate them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Try to communicate clearly. Any confusion that we have run into has been because I didn’t communicate clearly enough — TDB Marketing encouraged me to put everything in writing for complete transparency.
Since TDB Marketing launched the new site, the client has seen a clear increase in donations. They work quickly and make edits punctually, and they’ve communicated very clearly with the client via phone and email. In addition, they’re detail-oriented and ensure that content is current and relevant.
