The engagement has been successful, and Tavano Team has been able to implement the changes that the client requests. End users have also been impressed by their work. Their project management skills are strong, keeping them on track in terms of requests and customizations required by the company.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a project manager at a roof-coating manufacturing company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Tavano Team?
We were trying to implement a customer portal.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’re installing a piece of portal software onto our accounting software. Tavano helps us make customizations for the software to work exactly the way we want it to. They’re working on our e-commerce website, so they don’t have to recommend other technologies. They simply help us implement what we already know we want. Apart from that, they’ve created an entire warranty module so that customers can go in and see the progress of their warranty projects.
The team works mostly on improving the site’s aesthetics. They make a variety of customizations, such as changing the color or size of an item. For instance, instead of displaying 10 different colors for one item in the shop, they turn it into one item with 10 color variations that users can change. They may also change the look of buttons or replace one word with another word with a slightly different meaning.
We’re currently finishing up on the final touches on the portal, and then we’ll move into a support-based relationship with them in the next few weeks.
What is the team composition?
We work with three people from Tavano, consisting of Francisca (Project Management Officer), a developer, and a designer.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $75,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in November 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. There’s no specific end date to the partnership.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Tavano moves pretty quickly, and our portal is working very well — our customers are liking it. Whenever we have questions, Francisca answers, and she’s very knowledgeable. Since she’s done this a lot, she can answer questions based on past experiences. If she doesn’t know the answer, she can dig into the problem and figure it out.
How did Tavano Team perform from a project management standpoint?
They set up a Slack channel and a Trello board to keep track of the tasks. For more detailed tasks, we exchange Google Documents links that can be edited to keep track of what needs to be fixed and what we’re still working on.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Francisca is the best part of working with Tavano. She keeps things smooth and makes sure that we know how to keep the team moving. She also ensures that they keep up with all of our requests and everything that we ask for. When we forget about the requests we make, she’ll remind us. She’s on the ball all the time.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Tavano works in a production environment, and they publish it later on. As a result, some changes made in production don’t carry through to the published environment. Sometimes, changes get published, but if an update comes out, the changes would get disregarded. Overall, we’ve had to do a few things more than once due to such production and publishing environment changes.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Do the planning up front so that you know exactly what you’re getting and to ensure that everybody’s on the same page. In addition, stay in touch with the project manager.
