A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the head of sales and marketing for Sota co-living. We are a company based in LA, with five locations and approximately 350 tenants. Our tenant count changes every month.
What challenge were you trying to address with TaskTeleport?
We were looking for someone to help us with lead generation.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have pretty sophisticated sales because of our shared room rentals. Their team was responsible for covering all the leads that were looking for apartments or a shared room in Los Angeles on Facebook, Instagram, and other online forums.
If someone was looking for an apartment in Los Angeles, they reached out to their team to set up a video tour with our managers.
What is the team composition?
We had one person that we were in contact with at the beginning, but we hired some people to work directly with the managers once we established a comfortable relationship. In the end, there were a few people we were in contact with.
How did you come to work with TaskTeleport?
A friend of mine referred me to them. The main reason we started working with them was that no one else gave us the option to scan social media for leads that weren't reaching out directly to us. They were also super affordable.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent roughly $15,000–$20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from December 2019–September 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
When it comes to the value for money, they are one of the best companies we have worked with in improving our sales. There were approximately 40–50 leads, but it was a uniquely tough year for our industry.
They showed us some sources for leads that we didn’t know existed before. For example, they started working with a student group for different universities, which we were not aware existed. It was pretty successful, and we're still working with those groups.
We plan to work with them in the future. Right now, the market is so slow that we stopped our collaboration. However, we were pretty satisfied with what they were doing.
How did TaskTeleport perform from a project management standpoint?
We used Airtable, Google Spreadsheets, as well as Slack for communication. Onboarding was pretty easy with them. In the beginning, we didn’t know what we wanted, so we hired them and gave them some general tasks. They came up with some ideas that started providing leads.
From then on, we allowed them to do whatever they thought was important in order to provide leads. They took it from there and made money for us which was pretty good for us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are pretty flexible, which is extremely valuable to us. Their team was diligent in completing our tasks without requiring a super long-term engagement. We were able to scale up their team whenever we needed without having to make big financial commitments past the assigned tasks. They have a good team that could provide all the resources we needed to complete our project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I think communication with me could be improved a bit. At this point, I don’t know the whole situation because they did work very closely with our entire sales team. In the communication with me, there were some problems, but in general, everything was good.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
In the beginning, you have to believe that their ideas will work and rely on their experience. When you try a few ideas, you will see the results. If the results are there, go forward with them.
Despite pandemic-related market challenges, the partner was impressed with the team's creativity and ability to draw in leads through a wide range of channels. The team provided notable flexibility with their resources, able to scale up or down instantly depending on the partner's needs.
