We needed help with my marketing and social media.

What was the scope of their involvement?

TAMLO is taking care of our social media marketing and general marketing strategies. The team helps with our social network services by shooting photos and videos, editing the material, posting it, and developing social networking marketing strategies, mainly on Facebook and Instagram.

What was the team composition? 

We work with approximately four members of TAMLO’s team, including James (UK&I Managing Director), Nina (Account Manager), and junior executives.

How did you come to work with TAMLO?

I found TAMLO through a Google search while looking for a marketing company. I chose them because, after visiting their website, they seemed to understand our Japanese cultural context.

How much have you invested with them?

We pay around £700–£1,500 (approximately $900–$1,900 USD) a month, which depends on an activity basis. So far, our total investment with them has been around £10,000 (approximately $12,700 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

TAMLO has been helping us increase followers, business, and site traffic. In addition, thanks to their content, our site looks as if it has been made by a content creator, which has been useful for us.

How did TAMLO perform from a project management standpoint?

TAMLO has met our deadlines and stayed on budget. Regarding communication, we use emails and Zoom meetings.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review? 

We want to highlight James's work; despite being a small restaurant business, James always supports us. He's considerate of our not-so-large budget and is willing to work around it without charging us a lot, which is helpful. In addition, Nina also speaks Japanese, so she understands our culture, which is key to explaining our restaurant's menus.

What did you find most impressive about them?

TAMLO's marketing is their main strength. Nonetheless, their team has worked with Japanese clients and has a multinational background, which is useful for the cultural understanding of our business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At the moment, I don't think there's anything TAMLO can improve on. I'm not sure what they can do with larger projects, but I'm happy with what they've been doing with my available budget.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

With TAMLO being a Japanese company, I highly recommend working with them whether you're Japanese or not. I'm a Japanese person working with them doing business outside Japan, and they've been helpful.

For what projects/services did your company hire TAMLO?

As part of a large segmentation project, we worked with TAMLO and relied on their skills to explore different potential target segments using social listening and audience intelligence tools and techniques.

What were your goals for this project?

Our primary goal was to get prove or disprove a hypothesis we had on different target segments and receive actionable insights on segments that proved to be a good fit for Papercup's AI translation solutions.

I had come across TAMLO via a recommendation by an ex-colleague.

After selecting TAMLO as our partner for this audience segmentation project, we then had an exploratory meeting so they can understand our solution and existing customer base in more detail. After we mapped out the scope of the project, we were provided with a detailed SoW and timelines for the project.

The project itself then ran for 2 to 3 weeks with regular check-ins so the team at TAMLO could share with us insights they uncovered about our new target segments we were researching and adjusting their tactics to delve deeper into each sub-segment.

At the end of the project we were provided with a detailed presentation for the entire team at Papercup that ran through the hypothesis, methodology, findings and actionable insights for us to follow up on.

We worked mainly with our account manager James. This handsome chap, was most charming and handled any additional requests very gracefully with hyper attention to detail.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Most of the outcomes of the research are sensitive so cannot be directly shared. However, on a higher level, through this project, we were able to identify new target segments with a wealth of actionable insights about each. This allowed us to put together a thorough marketing campaign, with relevant messaging to break into these new segments.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

With regular updates and detailed reports, the whole workflow was seamless.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their creativity and ability to understand and adapt to our thoughts and processes were very impressive. This allowed them to become an extension of our team over night and run this project as if they worked for our company for years.

TAMLO supported my team with weekly translation, publishing and management of social media posts across our Japanese social media channels, as well as advise on cultural events to focus on. Alongside the translation of social media posts, they also wrote, translated and published posts around relevant local new stories and created a series of videos with Japanese influencers who fit our target audience.

1. Created and implemented a PPC Ad plan, testing multiple online platforms and content types to determine most effective reach and PPC impact. Providing monthly updates on performance and pivoting funds towards most effective platforms when necessary. 
2. Creation and ongoing management of Monthly customer newsletter, reaching approx 8K end users. This includes copy, digital thumbnails, and working with the existing business templates for newsletters.
3. Managing a phased project plan for localization of existing content pieces, based on strategic sales/product priorities.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1. For PPC Ads - Impressions, clicks, CTR and CPC
2. For new content - as we are in year one, the goal is more a market based outcome to drive brand and product awareness and push all our existing customers into a nurture program, which is underpinned by the monthly newsletter created by TAMLO. Year two will see us driving audience to campaigns with CTA's. 
3. For localization of existing content - the goal is to build our repository of localized content. In less than 10 months, we have covered over 100 pages of localized technical content which is a huge success for us.

Highly responsive, flexible on scope, and also provide well informed guidance on strategic next steps. Everything has been delivered on time, and they have always managed consistent communication through regular meetings and comms.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are genuine people, who understand the digital marketing landscape very well. They are extremely focused and take the time to understand your business priorities before implementing a project plan. I have in the past struggled to effectively localize technical content into Japanese language, and TAMLO have filled this gap perfectly for us. In fact, they have also corrected some of our existing work which has saved us from promoting unfit content in the market.

They continue to impress me as our partnership grows and expand. The are not just a vendor to me, but a trusted partner who I confidently take advise and guidance from.
