For paid search, Taktical completely rebuilt our search campaigns to a more granular level, isolating specific terms and categories into their own buckets. The SEO team initially did a deep-dive into our code structure from the lens of organic search and made a series of recommendations set up as a developer checklist for improvements. The content team developed an outreach strategy for links, as well as consistent blog writing for onsite content.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Organic search term ranking for roughly 30 terms improved consistently over time, and they continue to build upon these successes. Revenue from the paid search channel continues to outperform the previous year with minimal increase in spend.

Because of Taktical's efforts, social is one of our best performing channels. We've seen great growth and success, month over month, and they're very good about optimizing and trying new things.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

They've performed very well. They speak weekly and go over any promotions and goals that we have planned for that month or that season. Everything's always been very timely.

They put together a Google presentation for us every call, which allows us to look at last week's performance, as well as week over week performance. Within that presentation, we'll also share information that we can also add to it. We can always have a shared place of storing information. We talk frequently, so that format is perfect for us. If we need to adjust anything, they usually respond within minutes to an email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We're a pretty lean team, and because of that, we have a lot of external resources and vendors. They've always been excellent in terms of response and I'd say they place within the top three vendors that we work in that regard, which is really important for us. They've been really good at understanding our brand, our customer, and what might work in the future to add on and iterate on what we've already accomplished; that's been a really big plus as well.

No, they're a really good partner and we look forward to continuing working with them.

Currently, they’re still largely focused on managing our Facebook advertising efforts. They create campaigns, optimize our targets, and work on the budgets. We’ll provide them with the creative, but they put together the ads for us. A/B testing is also part of their role, so they’re always iterating our content and targets. They’re running prospecting and retargeting campaigns, too.

We’ve also added Pinterest advertising campaigns to the project, so they help optimize that channel, too. We also leverage them for SEO and paid search support.

Our goal was to see a return of 2x or better on our ad spend, and since we’ve begun the relationship, we’re above that goal. They’ve been able to maintain and exceed our goals in that area. We’re also seeing great results from the SEO and paid search support they provide.

They’re great—always very reachable. We have weekly check-in calls, but also communicate over email close to daily and text if it’s needed. I know Dane keeps track of our account, even over the weekend, so I can always reach him. They go above and beyond to be available and cater to our needs.

Additionally, they’ve helped produce and launch link-building and outreach campaigns. Along with that, the team is developing and auditing blog content for our website. In those efforts, they’ve provided us with h1s and experiment copy that we’ve used on some of our key product pages.

They’ve helped us grow the number of backlinks we have to the site and optimize our key product page, which is now competitively ranking on the first page of search results. We also just had another page move up to the first page of search results. 

Our team examines traffic metrics for articles and general keyword movement. Ideally, we’ll be able to track consumers through the sales funnel all the way through to a conversion. That’s a larger task, but we’re definitely looking into how to deepen our content with organic search through them.  

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

Because I had no experience with technical SEO starting out, we had a little bit of a hiccup in the beginning. We ended up having to take a step back to recalibrate. From there, they explained to me to basics of technical SEO.

At that point, they were great and supportive, coming up with incremental adjustments to make to the site. There’s always a flow of ideas and an overall sense of proactivity while collaborating with them. They’ve also been patient in understanding technical issues we’ve had in the past technically and with SEO.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve been amazing and patient with me while working through technical SEO implementations, which was completely over my head in the beginning. Taktical was very responsive and receptive, willing to make tweaks and changes to better fit our brand. If the tone of the content didn’t match our purposes, they were accommodating to any changes we suggested. Some companies aren’t responsive like they were and end up resisting any suggestions. We speak with Natalie every week and she tracks our Google Analytics and advertising for us, which I pass along to the managers here to review and update. She does a weekly report for us as well, and everything has been really positive so far.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

Everything has been amazingly on point so far. They are very quick to get us the information we need, and anytime I ask Natalie for something specific, she responds right away and generally gets me the information within an hour.

Patrick also has a great impact. We touch base with him via email on a regular basis, and he has been really good about letting us know if there are any issues in our search performance and how we can fix those.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their whole team has been very helpful and very available to us whenever we have questions about anything. They’re proactive when it comes to coming up with new ideas on how to continue to grow our brand presence, and we really appreciate that commitment from them.

Honestly, so far they have been amazing. We have had no issues at all.

We’ve definitely seen an impact from their services. Within a few months of working with Taktical, they’ve exceeded our expectations. We started ranking quickly for a few important keywords, rising up to the top three positions for some. Our site has seen an increase in traffic and overall submissions, too. 

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management approach is great. Taktical is well organized and helpful in executing the work. Everything is kept on track by their team and they’re good at making sure our team stays in line. 

We have biweekly calls in which Taktical updates us on their progress and analytics. Most of our communication takes place over email, but they take any ad hoc calls we need as well. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Taktical does what they promise to do and their whole approach makes sense for our business. Following through on promises is not an easy thing to do in the SEO world, but they continue to do it. They make sure the technical aspects work and roll out content in the meantime. Their plan of attack is great and works well for us.

I can’t think of anything they could improve—nothing comes to mind.

See if Taktical has any specific experience in your industry. It’s helpful for us that they know about jewelry and diamonds. If they have more experience in your industry, they’ll be able to think of strong keywords and know the right tone to take.
