Try to meet Taktical's standards of organization. We found that they were very efficient, so when delays or disorganization occurred on end, we had to play catch-up which somewhat delayed our progress.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The biggest metrics we measure are acquisition cost and return on spend. Thanks to Taktical, we hit our numbers within 30–45 days. That's pretty quick in terms of target acquisition costs, which was great.

They're actually still working with our client while we've moved on. That was always the plan that we bring them on, get them onboarded, and then transition their management over to the client’s internal team. I've recommended them to multiple clients looking to hire a digital agency.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint? 

The Taktical team was very responsive. Derek (Director, Taktical) and Ilan (Chief Strategist, Taktical) were both accessible if I ever wanted to touch base. That was a breath of fresh air because they provided a high level of service at a lower level of cost. Our account manager led a 30-minute weekly call and produced a weekly report. They'd customize each report based on the metrics we wanted to see. That allowed us to be able to manage the project effectively. It also ensured that we not only understood the results but also could communicate back to the client on how to improve performance. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Taktical has real expertise on the backend. It's so easy now to put up an ad on Facebook and Instagram. Any business owner can do it themselves on the platform. However, it takes an expert in social media targeting to really lower acquisition costs. They know how to change their approach on mobile versus desktop, and which audience marketing metrics get the best output. Everyone that we've worked with at Taktical had a deep understanding of those tactics, which is definitely not true of every agency. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there's nothing specific that I would mention. I’ve used them multiple times because I've had good experiences. They've been a pleasure to work with.

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

It’s a collaborative process. Taktical can take as much of a lead as you want, but it's most effective to bounce ideas off each other. Ideally, you’d have someone on your team that helps feed into their strategy discussions.

We are primarily online, working within an industry that has always been dominated by an offline presence. For us, our main goal was getting our gallery in front of new collectors and qualified demographics who are interested in either seeing works in person or interested more in the art buying process.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We work with them to handle all of our social ad campaigns across Facebook and Instagram. They handle all of our digital accounts. The content is a collaboration. We have been working with them for several months and have become pretty familiar with the flow and the type of creative that works.

In the beginning, they helped to advise us on the content they had previously seen as successful or a different type of content we should test with. They helped advise us on what type of content we should test out to be able to really narrow in on that qualified demographic.

In the beginning, we collaborated, and at this point, we are in a comfortable flow that we now handle most of the creative and hand it over to them to manage and put into all of the campaigns.

We have worked with about six people in total. We have two account managers we work with directly: one lead and another account manager who helps with day to day maintenance. We also work with the founder, who reaches out quite frequently. The whole team has been really great and receptive and even came out to one of our exhibitions.

That has helped drive immediate short-term conversions, as well as increase the engagement to drive long-term conversions. As first-time advertisers, we look to them for advice on creative, and they've delivered specific and insightful feedback to guide our campaigns in the right direction.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

Working with Taktical has been seamless. The onboarding process was simple, and they set up and handle all of our campaigns. We touch base in weekly check-ins via conference call where they report on KPIs and how the campaigns are performing, from which creative is doing the best to where we can tighten up our targeted demographics. They give us a heads-up when we need to update the creative, as well as provide feedback on any new ideas.

What did you find most impressive about them?

This is our first time our company has advertised on Facebook or Instagram, so gathering data is of key importance to help refine our campaigns. Their team guides us on what types of tests to run, when we have enough data to make an analysis, and how we can optimize our campaigns once we have enough data. Eight months in, our campaigns feel tight and efficient. It would take a lot more manpower on our end to constantly look at all the data, identify the patterns, and see where the trends are, so Taktical saves us time by providing this analysis for us.

We’re excited to test advertising on new channels with Taktical. It will give us an opportunity to take all of the data from our social campaigns and apply it to new outlets, like offline or Google, to continue to reach new collectors.

As with any partnership, patience is key. Being honest about what we want has proven helpful in our relationship. Taktical is a company that values and appreciates any feedback, good or bad. They really want their clients to be communicative. Take initiative and be very honest and upfront about your brand, what you have seen works for you, and what hasn’t worked for you. Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the head of businesses development at Blue Label Labs, an app design, development, and marketing agency. Based in New York and Seattle, we have a team of 40 people, including designers and developers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Taktical?

We wanted to increase our marketing capacity and drive organic growth, using SEO, link building, and enhancements to our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Taktical audited our website and provided SEO, keyword, and link building services. They rebuilt the home page and some additional pages as needed to improve performance.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about four people, including a relationship manager, someone working on content marketing, and someone performing the site audit.

How did you come to work with Taktical?

One of their former employees suggested we get in touch with Taktical. We found that they were not only competitively priced and local, but also had experience in our exact industry. While many vendors could provide SEO services, their team seemed to know our line of work the best. We also talked with previous clients of theirs who provided glowing reviews.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent $7,000–$8,000 thus far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2018 and expect to continue the collaboration for at least a year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It's only been two months, but we've already seen an uptick in performance of certain keywords, which is helping improve our Google search rankings. There's been demonstrable improvement in the keywords we care about.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team is in constant communication with us through email, utilizing Google Drive as a collaborative tool to keep our materials organized. They've developed a checklist for our developers to help them continually improve the website. We're quite impressed with their level of organization.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm most impressed with the organization of their output. Their team makes it easy to engage with them without having to stumble through an array of documents or communications methods—everything's in one place.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They may have thought that our team is more knowledgeable on SEO than we actually are. It would be helpful to have more of a deep dive into the basics during the first couple of meetings for other clients.

Taktical worked on my SEO and email marketing, eventually training one of our in-house people for email-related tasks. Taktical also provided influencer-outreach services.

I met Taktical's team through a friend who knew one of their owners. I was reluctant to use a provider, but I knew that I needed professional help.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Taktical has been fantastic to work with; they've increased our sales tremendously. I am very pleased to continue working with them. Taktical is motivated to see us grow.

We started working with Taktical during our second month of activity, with sales around $15,000. Taktical has gotten us to well over $100,000 per month in revenue.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

Taktical is excellent across the board. I know that the team is busy, so as long as our sales are coming in, I don't bother them a lot. When I do, they definitely respond well.

What distinguishes Taktical from other providers?

Facebook ads have been something which Taktical took to a whole new level for us.

Is there anything Taktical could have improved or done differently?

If our sales decline, I'm sure that I'll be singing a different tune, but so far I really can't complain. Taktical has really helped us.

What challenge were you trying to address with Taktical?

We wanted a really strong SEO campaign. We wanted traffic to increase, as well as our leads. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Taktical has been helping us from the start to build the strongest brand and online presence possible. They provide us with weekly check-ins and track everything on our site, from YouTube visits to CPC to bounce rate and things like that. They're making sure people using our site are staying on it and converting into actual leads. They're tracking those over weeks and over years, so we're able to see some trends weekly, quarterly, and even yearly.

They maintain and track our social accounts as well as push content into publishers' hands for link-backs. That way, we can have more SEO wins, links acquired, and eventually online mentions. They track where our leads are coming from so they're able to better market to those who might actually convert. Once we do get a lead, we can say it was our Clutch profile or whatever that drove them to use us. They are constantly working on our AdWords as well as partnered campaigns and advertising campaigns. I'm sure there are tons of other things but that's just scratching the surface.

How did you come to work with Taktical?

I'm not sure of the original arrangement, but I believe we've been working with them for nearly 4 years.

How much have you invested with Taktical?

I don't have that information.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve collaborated for around 4 years with the founder, Ilan, but have worked with Taktical specifically for around 2.5 years.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Taktical has quadrupled our revenue in 12 months, which is really astounding. They are able to drive fueled.com to the top of people's searches on Google for over 200 key terms. They're constantly updating those with things as simple as "app developer." As of last week, they were working on adding us to the iMessage sticker pack. No one was [rating] for that so they're working on that. They've raised traffic by nearly 900% and the number of inbound leads has grown 5-fold. I'm sure that there are more specifics but that's the high level. Plus, everything I mentioned has been tracked for years, giving us the benefit of a history and context behind it.

How did Taktical perform from a project management standpoint?

We work in the same co-working space, so they are neighbors. It's convenient because when we need them we can just go poke them! We're here in the office, as I mentioned, so it makes it easier and perhaps also more casual, which can be a negative.

What did you find most impressive about Taktical?

I appreciate how open and receptive they are to updating their process. Recently, we were working with 2 different marketing teams. To keep things organized, we figured it would be better to compile information monthly. I just reached out to Ilan and said, “We'd like this. What's your input on how we can better organize it? Can you start giving a snapshot of your work to us every month?” He was quick to say, “Absolutely! Here's my input.” They are very flexible and ready to amend how they work to suit the needs of the company they're working for. I work personally with Ilan on a lot of projects. He's receptive to ideas and change. Most importantly, he knows what his strengths and weaknesses are. He's very clear so that level of transparency is quite comforting.

Are there any areas Taktical could improve?

Nothing off the top of my head. I think they're really positive.
