Recreate the experience of taking dental CE courses at the world famous Kois Center in VR. Students come here from all over the world to hear Dr. John Kois present his patient methedology. The courses are 55 hours each and keep the students engaged through out. It is common for groups to come together. Taking the course must be presented in a way that makes it an acceptable subsitute for attending in person. The application must also handle log in information that is stored in a seperate CRM.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

A project scope was agreed upon that had set deliverable and strict delivery dates. All deliverables were met and deliveried early.

They delivered all items on time and responded extremely fast. I work with several teams in other time zones; Takeaway Reality has one of the best response times.

I never brought up a question more than once, either as a feature request or a bug during testing. Releases were well planned, well organized, and well documented, so I always knew where project development was.

I’m the CEO of FFIND’s Italian, German, and English branches. I’ve worked there since I was 23, so about 20 years. We collect data, so we’re in the market research world. We specialize in computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI), which means telephonic and online interviews.

We’ve recently approached the AR/VR world to create something that will boost the industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Takeaway Reality?

Traditional market research uses different methodologies. For example, it can be conducted over the phone, face-to-face, or at a central local location for product testing. Our mission was to convert all existing methodologies into VR.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Takeaway Reality has supported us in developing an AR/VR tool for market research called Rexee. Initially, we prepared a brief document and went through many calls because they wanted to dive deep into the project and understand if they could help us. Then, they started with some informative workshops to understand what we needed. We also provided them with some guidelines.

Although market research is our industry, they’ve done consultancy work. We’ve molded our expertise together, even if we’re in a client-provider relationship. Moreover, Takeaway Reality gives us insights to improve the original idea.

Additionally, Takeaway Reality has helped us assemble the business plan and do things that weren’t explicitly requested.

We’ve mainly worked with 3–4 teammates, including Mario (Founder & CEO), Marko (Development Team Lead), and some developers.

How did you come to work with Takeaway Reality?

Our marketing department did some online scouting and ended up with a set of providers. We contacted some companies in Italy and Germany and conducted some first interviews.

Ultimately, we chose Takeaway Reality because they were well-positioned on Google. We also trusted them from the beginning. Once we met them, we just fell in love with them. They gave us some training about VR, what we didn’t know about market share, and what could be the evolution.

We spend around $100,000 yearly.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in June 2023, and our partnership is ongoing. We have a contract in place, and we’ll undoubtedly continue our relationship.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With innovation, you never know if you’ll have the result you expect because it might be too late or too early. However, we already had a usable demo in three months, which was good because then we could discuss with our clients how the product should develop.

Takeaway Reality has outperformed, and their efforts have gone better than expected. At this stage, we’re still using the old business and current marketing tools with our clients while we’re trying to innovate. However, our clients know we’re trying to be avant-garde and be the first to do this extremely new thing that no one has ever done.

Overall, Takeaway Reality has positively impacted our business due to the perspective that we can bring together. We were lucky to find them.

How did Takeaway Reality perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve delivered on time and within budget. Sometimes they even add things that weren’t requested. We’ve taken a little bit longer due to our fault, so we have nothing to address with them. Overall, they’ve been good in terms of the deadlines. They might be late one day, but a day isn’t anything in a one-year project, so everything’s good.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

The developers are super nice, but Mario is our main point of contact. We share most of our ideas, follow the deadlines and roadmap, and build everything with him.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team is so open that we’ve given them additional work outside the original scope. Even outside the business side, they’ve worked with us for nearly one year, and we like the whole team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there hasn’t been anything critical up to this point. We’re pretty satisfied with the general quality.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The more they can influence the project, the better. I’m 42, so I’m not old, but these people are under 28–30, so they’re pretty young. I love their power and enthusiasm, so I advise letting Takeaway Reality express themselves and listen to what they want to say.

Sometimes companies have work to do and are looking for developers to do something, but Takeaway Reality’s developers can improve the original idea. They might not be super mature, but that’s normal because they aren’t in the specific industry. They could say something that isn’t 100% correct, but the inspiration they give you is pretty nice.

I needed help with creating teaching materials.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Takeaway Reality helped me create AR teaching materials for my class. For this project, we specifically focused on developing a 3D visualization of a flyball governor. The key deliverable was a web-based app for the students to use to interact with a steam engine and understand the physical principles of how it works.

Through the app’s interface, the students are able to move the steam engine around and change some of the forces applied to it. When they do that, some interactive pop-ups explain to them what’s happening as they do it and give them feedback on how their actions affect the entire system.

What is the team composition?

I worked with two teammates from Takeaway Reality: the owner and a technical member in charge of the actual app development.

How did you come to work with Takeaway Reality?

I found them on Google and decided to work with them due to their price. They were the only company willing to do what I wanted within the amount of money I had available.

How much have you invested with them?

I spent around £3,000 (approximately $3,600 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from November 2022–February 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Takeaway Reality delivered what we initially discussed. Thus, I measured the success of our engagement by looking at the app and whether it did what I asked them to do. Moving forward, I’ll use this app for teaching, so I’ll get feedback from my students on whether it serves its purpose or not.

How did Takeaway Reality perform from a project management standpoint?

Takeaway Reality met their deadlines and delivered everything in a timely fashion. We communicated via email exchanges and Microsoft (MS) Team meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Takeaway Reality offered a great price. Additionally, they’re a small company, so I valued the fact that I interacted with the owner a lot. He was very invested in ensuring that the project succeeded and the app worked correctly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Takeaway Reality’s communication could have been better. There were a lot of stages involved in developing this app, one of which was getting a 3D model. Past that point, I wasn’t able to go back and make changes to that model, which wasn’t obvious to me that it was the case. Possibly, Takeaway Reality did communicate that situation, but it would have been great if they made it very clear that the 3D model was a point of no return.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The app I built with Takeaway Reality helps me teach quite an advanced matter that requires a third-year-level engineering degree. If I was to go through this project again, I would spend more time initially going through all the ideas of what I want to teach so that they can understand everything in detail. If you’re also developing educational software, take a lot of time to ensure that Takeaway Reality understands what you’re trying to teach.

I am the Marketing Manager for a major tech company and lead line of business strategy and go-to-market for our 3P retail consumer sales organization in the US.

For what projects/services did your company hire Takeaway Reality?

The objective of this project was to utilize the growth in gamification and drive innovation by developing a couple games as a way to create an interactive and engaging launch moment to drive demand around a new product feature that is part of our subscription service.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Takeaway Reality was on a list of vendors who provided the type of game development solution we were seeking. Based on extensive conversations, concept and pitch reviews and case studies shared, we felt they were the right fit for our needs due to our trust in their ability to innovate on our original idea and to deliver in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Once we kicked off the project and locked on final game development concepts, the Takeaway Reality team quickly took all of our brand assets and guidance and immediately got to work on providing the game flow / UI mock-ups that aligned to our vision. Each stage allowed for internal reviews, feedback rounds and approval flows to ensure we were in lock step during development across all key stakeholders.

We then progressed into live demo stages of each of the games and their team was remarkably responsive and agile as we worked through final rounds of feedback and required adjustments. From there we deployed the games to support the launch of our campaign! Takeaway Reality made it all feel seamless and easy despite this being a huge undertaking and our first time working in the game development space.

We worked primarily with Mario, CEO of Takeaway Reality, who was nothing short of remarkable during each step of the process. He was consistently available to answer questions both over direct calls and email and was an incredible resource for our team. As needed, additional team members joined meetings and email threads to support our project.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have been launching this campaign in phases and is currently ongoing, but the initial results and feedback have far exceeded our expectations. As we continue to socialize our games internally and look for opportunities beyond our direct team to promote and market the game, the constant theme has been that we are the embodiment of innovation and are leading the way in thinking differently about how we engage, educate, and connect with our customers. That alone is a huge win, but from a pure results standpoint, we also have an amazing story to tell as we are delivering strong results with time spent in game at nearly 5 minutes, average game sessions near 2, and strong CTR engagement with our call-to-action at about 2%.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Incredible. I could not be more pleased with how responsive, engaged, and easy to work with their team was. The flow from start to finish was excellent and our needs were constantly met or exceeded.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This being our first time working in the game development space, they were so good at educating us, answering complex questions, collaborating across our many stakeholders and being thought leaders throughout the entire project. If there was a blocker, they were first to jump in with multiple solutions and share recommendations, which kept our momentum moving forward to always deliver our next milestone on schedule.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Honestly, nothing that jumps out at me.

I'm the CEO of a software development company (Orion Labs) that specializes in the development of digital business solutions, mostly web and mobile apps.

We hired TAR to help us to design a VR chatbot experience.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

They initially came to us with lots of opportunities to explore. We initially looked into making the Chatbot experience in AR, but the chance to have a VR chatbot was too exciting.

Within a week of deciding to go with Virtual Reality, they came back to us with a proposal for the chatbot experience. A carefully explained user journey was presented, which we loved. It took a lot of time and pressure off of ourselves.

Throughout the project, TAR were great in maintaining frequent communication with us. They kept us informed with any changes which were occurring.

There were times when the development team found bugs, which was inevitable. However, the guys over at TAR were quick to revise the timeline and let us know how soon resolutions would come.

We mostly communicated with 3 people from one of their teams specialized in VR. Their project manager was quick on responses and informed us about every important step in the process.

We are very grateful for TARs work. They were very happy to work with us too as they were eager to gain refine their skills within the field of VR. Currently, we use their consulting services in the XR field, as their team has shown to have deep and relevant knowledge of both Virtual and Augmented Reality.

From the beginning, we were informed about every major step in the process and it really made everything much easier as we could decide on important elements in time.

We established multiple communication channels with TAR team - WhatsApp if there was any urgency, Slack for constant updates and JIRA for tracking the project.

Their dedication to not only deliver the solution but give their best to optimize the overall VR experience was just extraordinary.

I’m the conventions and events manager for a medical device company that produces implants and screws for osteosynthesis.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Takeaway Reality?

We started having a lot of virtual events since COVID-19, and we wanted to be more engaged in the virtual context — so we needed a company to provide us with AR game development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a web-based AR game for our upcoming events from scratch. To get into the mobile-friendly game, users will have to receive a link or scan a QR code. We initially gave them a corporate guide so they can implement the requirements into the game.

To kick off the project, we had a call to talk about our ideas, and they provided some very good inputs from their experience in the AR space. We selected the plates we wanted to show in the game, as well as the 3D models of the bone and the fracture line. We then started with the first game module for a course that’s focused on the hand and the wrist. Moreover, the game allows you to select a plate that’s suitable for fractures.

From there, we developed a second game module for the cranium and facial area, and we’re also considering implementing a third game module that covers the foot area.

The key feature of the app is the AR environment where users can have the bone on their desks to twirl around and zoom into. Users can also select the right plate and get further information as to which system it belongs and so on. 

In the virtual environment, the only thing you have from the client is their contact information, but the game is able to collect that information from all the players. Our main goal for the app is to get leads and raise awareness, so we did this during the pandemic because there are a lot of virtual events to help us achieve that.

We’re in touch with three people and our main point of contact is the project manager.

We had an internal project group and we did a lot of research on possible providers. My colleague got a recommendation for them and they responded immediately to send us a proposal that met our expectations.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We used the game for two big events. One had around 80 participants who played the game, while the other one only had five players. I don’t know what the effects were for the target groups, but we needed to evaluate a lot of factors. Right now, we’re planning to create a big marketing campaign for the whole company, so that the game can be used for all kinds of events. We hope to increase our player base for the game as there are no other competitors who have executed this concept.

How did Takeaway Reality perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform well and I found the cooperation between our teams to be very pleasant. Communication is always fast and direct, as we have several chat groups on WhatsApp. In addition, they’re very supportive and open to revising implementations we don’t like.

We also have regular Zoom calls, but our most prominent form of communication at the moment is through email. However, as soon as the next game module starts, we’ll roll out our Zoom calls again.

We’re very impressed with their communication. We wanted an AR solution because no other companies have thought of implementing that solution, and Takeaway Reality was the only company that could provide it — the price ratio was good for us as well.

They could’ve been better with the time frames, as they didn’t always complete the tasks on schedule.
