HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Ltd. is a joint venture between HDFC Ltd., India’s premier Housing Finance Institution and ERGO International AG, the primary insurance entity of Munich Re Group.

The Company offers complete range of general insurance products ranging from Motor, Health, Travel, Home and Personal Accident in the retail space and customized products like Property, Marine and Liability Insurance in the corporate space.

In my current role as Sr. Project Manager, I manage the mobility space for delivering mobile apps for end customers and internal users

For what projects/services did your company hire Synoverge Technologies Private Limited?

We were looking for software vendor who have expertise and experience in delivering mobile solutions someone who have already proven in this space. Synoverge met our criteria and budget for the required app development

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to provide a very intuitive, easy and seamlessly mobile app for our end customers that empower them to engage with our app and perform self-service features required post purchasing of policy

Synoverge was already associated with our company working on projects for other department. This was a internal reference based on past peformance and we selected them for our mobile projects.

We wanted to develop mobile app that will empower and engage customers for all their basic insurance need using their mobile device. Using the App customer can request for policy document, register claim, view policy details, buy/renew policy and view offers related to the policy purchased.

We typically had 1 PM , 5 developers and 1 designer to work on Android /iOS platform

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have been working with Synoverge to develop our mobile solutions for customers and internal users on iOS & Android platforms on several Projects. Their expertise and professionalism in delivering mobile App solutions is evident throughout the project phase.

They have demonstrated great skill, commitment to gain our confidence and trust. We are pleased with their performance and would recommend Synoverge to anyone looking out for mobility solutions.

The project demanded daily communiation on status/ challeges and updates on project progress. Team from Synoverge never missed any daily stand-ups and was very transperent in communications and status update which I believe was key for success.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Synoverge have demonstrated great capabilities in co-working with myself and the team at Tippzi to bring our app concept to life. The firm has proved to be an excellent partner in our endeavour and one that I will work with again in the future.

The staff are highly responsive, engaged, dynamic and very transparent in their daily work. The team’s dedication, commitment and work ethics are very clear to see. This culture ensures that no issues are missed, nothing is too small to be investigated, which has given me full confidence that the ‘bigger picture’ is always covered.

The turnaround time for issues raised is outstanding in my experience, all are reviewed on a timely basis with feedback always provided by individual developers. This means that in some instances, issues have been raised and rectified (and even developed) on a same-day basis for inclusion in the current sprint.

This was certainly not expected so speaks to a mindset of realistic flexibility provided and, without any additional demands from myself as the client. This has meant that each project sprint has been delivered on-time and on-point with all outstanding issues captured ready to be prioritised for the next sprint.

Such working has ensured that project momentum is constant with overall project progress plain to see for myself and other Tippzi stakeholders. A huge comfort has been having multiple sets of SME eyes on our build out.

Each team member is engaged and focused on their own specialism with competency and enthusiasm shining through. The team’s specialists cover the full scope required for a business build-out and the digital footprint required so this covers web site design and functionality so, not just app development.

This has forged a strong and efficient collaborative culture of co-working which has been a huge benefit to both Tippzi and myself personally. An equally important aspect is this;

Because our assigned PM has worked on over 120 commercial apps and numerous website builds, his experience, insights and knowledge of the marketplace have been great assets in our interactions. His knowledge base covers everything from functionality, UX and UI.

Frankly, I now consider my PM as a primary ‘go to’ contact for brainstorming and debate. He has demonstrated that he’s never short of ideas that will enhance all the above areas and has proved to be an excellent additional (and unexpected) resource for the Tippzi buildout.

To summarise: When in the process of choosing a development partner then, of course, do your research, listen to the pitches and get quotes but my advice is simple;

You would be wise to add Synoverge to your potential partner list and listen to what they have to say before making a final decision.

I’m the director of The Shoreditch Partnership. It’s an accelerator company, working with other companies to ensure they move forward.

What challenge were you trying to address with Synoverge Technologies?

We were looking to develop an app from our MVP. The application, Tippzi, is an SME-driven app that enables an affordable way of promoting and marketing small business sales. It offers additional services to optimize geo-location via paid SEO requirements. There is also unique technology regarding AR aspects and promotional marketing around AR.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Synoverge Technologies helped us develop the application commercially, strengthening it commercially. The app is natively built for iOS, Android, and the web. 

They also performed a mismatch gap analysis to determine where the app was developed in a segmented manner regarding look and feel, across iOS, Android, and the web. Additionally, the team was responsible for general access security and structural reviews to ensure they were robust. They also addressed any compliance issues regarding the latest operating systems of the platforms.

There are two web streams; one foundational to harden and align the app, and structurally tidy up aspects to remove gaps, and the other to develop the app to move forward with the unique technologies offered within.

What is the team composition?

We work with roughly 12 people, including Prashant (CEO & Managing Director), a project manager, three key leads for iOS, Android, and web, and specialists in various areas, including AR requirements.

How did you come to work with Synoverge Technologies?

Prashant and I worked together at a previous company. I felt confident that his team had strong technical ability, strong communication, and the ability to deliver. They also understood the nuances involved in advising regarding tech.

How much have you invested with them?

We have invested between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around September 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The second, more sophisticated version of the app will soon be released to stores. We have acquired more clients for the application, especially for the promotional AR piece.

How did Synoverge Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They work in agile methdology. We also use Jira boards to collaborate. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stand out in their network due to the quality and skills of their team members. Team members are encouraged to push back with clients, to say no when necessary, and to add valuable input where they needed. They also understand the commercial aspect organizations face when engaging with a technology provider.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their messaging could be more compelling, highlighting their niche offerings under a more sophisticated banner.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Share your ideas and engage in conversation with them. Don’t run them as an engineering company, but rather as an interactive company to develop with you in an Agile structure.
