What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In a very short amount of time, they were able take all sorts of documentation and interviews, and synthesize our story and our value proposition. They turned them into something that was more visually appealing, accessible, and easy to understand, which showed their craft and their ability to work with people to understand what will get the most traction and value.
Now, people that have visited our site are better prepared to have a meaningful conversation about our activities, services, and development capability than they have been in the past. That offers a glimpse into the abilities of Symbiont Group to translate the very technical services that we provide into something that everyone—whether they’re technical or not—can appreciate and understand.
If they can achieve these results, even under pressure, I imagine with proper time and scope, their results could be even more impactful.
How did Symbiont Group perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re proactive rather than responsive, and we spoke frequently, working in an iterative process. They’re typically ahead of the curve in driving towards agreed upon objectives rather than just responding to me. In managing the project, in some ways they were managing us. As we are a smaller organization, it sometimes took a lot for them to get things from us at times, which limited their output.
They’ve done an excellent job of keeping on top of things, managing the process, setting expectations against which they were performing, and doing as much as they could with what they were given. They’ve established a very good platform from which we can continue to develop.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They went above and beyond my expectations and I appreciate the level of commitment and detail that they put in to make the most of what was a modest budget. The team each excels at their individual craft or skillset, and their empathy also impressed me—they’re very understanding of time, content, and budget constraints. When there are questions, they’re very quick to help me understand their approach and/or troubleshoot if something wasn’t running properly. They’re also very good at making recommendations based on what we were trying to achieve.
Jackie did great work, while Albrey is exceptional at distilling what’s most important to us organizationally to help tell our story. Jon, from a relationship perspective, is like working with a friend without any of the baggage. Things are casual, but also business-like, and it helps that they are local to us; it makes the project that much easier. It’s like having the marketing department I don’t have.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could be more proactive in letting me know when they’re working out of scope, as I never want to take advantage of someone’s generosity. They met or exceeded our expectations.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
The more you do with them, the greater the benefit to you because they have an integrative approach. Don’t look at them as just a one-time or part-time solution. The more involved you can make them, the greater the benefit and the ROI.
