Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a consultant working with Futurelearn. It's my job to act as a neutral set of eyes assessing site architecture, SEO and web product.
For what projects/services did your company hire Sweet Spot PR?
This was indeed a challenging project. Getting PR and links happening in a time when the world only wanted to write about Covid-19 and 40% of the world's journalists were furloughed? I have worked with multiple PR companies on these sorts of projects, but in all cases previously it had been SweetSpot that really got the big results so I gave them the nod for this project.
What were your goals for this project?
PR. Links. Brand building.
How did you select Sweet Spot PR?
I am an experienced Head of Marketing, have run dozens of similar PR Campaigns with multiple PR agencies around the world. I have no hesitation in saying I rarely consider any other team for this work other than Sweet Spot, other than to ensure due diligence is performed. With SweetSpot I always know I am in good hands.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
SweetSpot needed to pick a topic related to my client's niche, but not self servingly so, find an angle to get the most amount of clippings, manage the research and ensure it could withstand any level of scrutiny, provide guidance on the layout, write and promote the press releases... and keep going until a minimum success was achieved. A massive challenge, as the contract was signed before the world went into lockdown, and they had to perform as if it had not. And they did.
What was the team composition?
I had direct access to the CEO, project manager, and the head of research, the client provided access to Head of SEO, PR and social. I brought in my own design and tech team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
50% above the contracted minimum results, in a time where 40% of journalists were furloughed, and many publications were plain and simply shutting down. Very happy, already discussing next projects.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Imperfect. Our project manager was furloughed mid project which was far from ideal. Pablo, the CEO stepped in to manage things himself for some month. Not ideal, but it was certainly a case of making things work whatever had to be done.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They take absolute responsibility. For the campaign concepts, the research, the workflow and the outcomes. No excuses, just results.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I never want to have to manage a PR campaign during a world crisis again. I never want to lose a project manager mid campaign either. Not sure how this could have been managed differently.
