We needed an experienced development firm to create an app for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We came to SunNet Solutions with some primitive wireframes. They used a logic-driven approach to iterate our designs further. Once we signed off on the revised wireframe, they built the app using .NET and HTML 5. The system’s infrastructure consists of an SQL backend. The app functions as a tool to help us maintain communication with our customers. Now that development is complete, they host and support the app on an ongoing basis.

What is the team composition?

We interact with a project manager and several developers. They’ve allocated 3–5 resources to our work on our account throughout the engagement.

I’m the nurse coordinator at a health center located in Texas. We work with state government institutions and medical schools to coordinate care and evaluations for child abuse victims. Our physicians and pediatricians conduct the evaluations and put together case reviews and medical records for each patient. We also have a clinic for follow-up care and counseling services.

What challenge were you trying to address with SunNet Solutions?

We needed to develop a new web system to facilitate secure communication between all parties involved in our child evaluation and care system. The two bureaucratic institutions involved encouraged us to use our in-house staff to develop a network that allowed caseworkers to communicate and document their findings. Following their instructions, we put together a solution, but it only worked for about 18 months. We were permitted to outsource our technical needs to a vendor found through an RFP process.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided SunNet Solutions with a set of requirements. Then, they completely designed and built out a state-wide web platform to support our evaluation and care system and added all of the necessary data and information. They continue to provide support and maintenance services. On one occasion, they helped us migrate the platform to a new server.

What is the team composition?

Initially, we spoke with Sandy (President, SunNet Solutions) and Mike (COO, SunNet Solutions). We’ve had two different project managers throughout the relationship, and they led a background team of developers and designers. We primarily interact with our project manager or Sandy.

How did you come to work with SunNet Solutions?

We considered several vendors in our RFP process. SunNet Solutions presented the most realistic and cost-effective approach to the project, so we chose to work with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in 2009, and it’s an ongoing relationship.

The state government institutions involved in this system are extremely happy with the solution’s performance. Its usage continues to increase yearly.

Sandy is a valuable resource for us. She is always present for high-level interactions and free to meet with us whenever necessary. Other than that, we schedule a yearly check-in with her to go over the past year’s work and our plans for the future.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Because we’re working with governmental bodies, we have to balance their expectations with SunNet Solution’s capabilities. The team was very reasonable in accommodating all of those limitations and constraints. Their support has been instrumental as our system continues to grow.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t. We’re medical-minded people, so they help us with the technical aspects.
