I’m the office manager for RCCO, a nonprofit for Alcoholics Anonymous.

What challenge were you trying to address with studio1c?

studio1c has been helping us with the hosting and maintenance of our website. Michelle has updated our Joomla-based website. 

For context, we were two generations behind, and our website kept crashing. We didn’t have the funds before to update it, and our board didn’t want to do it then. However, the site truly needed to be updated, and we needed people with more computer knowledge to make that decision. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Michelle (Director of Marketing & Creative Services) and studio1c host our website and maintain our two email addresses. The team updates our website for things such as meetings, proofs our newsletter, and adds them to our website. Moreover, Michelle has added PayPal and Zelle to our website, allowing us to take debit and credit card payments. 

Four people from our committee and sub-committee are in touch with Michelle. Four times a year, we update our meeting schedules. From there, I send her a PDF with the meeting times and locations, which she puts on our website. Our newsletter chairperson then contacts her to proofread our newsletter before it goes out to the public, ensuring it’s readable and formatted correctly. 

For functionality, our website serves the tri-state area consisting of Arizona, California, and Nevada. Michelle and her team work on keeping our website up. They’ve also worked on a fundraiser called River Roundup, which is one of our sub-committee. It uses all kinds of platforms for registrations and for orders. Michelle updates everything on that website, such as the pictures and prices of the retail items available.

We work directly with Michelle. She’s always been our main point of contact and webmaster.

Michelle and studio1c were already on board when I joined our organization. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $132 per year for hosting and $90 per year for the two emails. There’s an additional $600 per year for any updates we need to make. So far in 2023, we’ve spent around $2,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I started my engagement with studio1c in January 2000, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We have a lot more traffic on our website now, increasing every month. Michelle is truly easy to work with; she’s professional and knowledgeable, and their services are cost-effective. Moreover, she doesn’t speak in a language I don’t understand — she breaks everything down to my level of understanding and always comes through with what we ask her to do. 

How did studio1c perform from a project management standpoint?

Michelle has been patient with people like me who don’t speak in technical terms. She understands what I need her to do, and that’s important because I’m not computer savvy. Moreover, she’s on top of everything, ensuring everything is done by our deadlines. To communicate, we use phone calls and emails. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I tell Michelle what I need, and she does her magic. She knows exactly what we need even if we don’t know much about computer language, and that’s impressive.

No, there aren’t any.

I’m a volunteer at River Cities Central Office Inc., a nonprofit organization for AA. I update the information on our site, and I help put on conferences to raise money for the organization.

We needed help to fix the domain that redirects to our website. We also needed to update the e-commerce aspect to our site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The studio1c team helped us set up our email marketing, which includes a monthly automated email. They created multiple ways for us to gather leads through our subscription from the website, and they also created a consistent theme to match our email marketing. Most importantly, studio1c streamlined our navigation for a better experience for the end-user.

I’ve only worked with Michelle (SEO Consultant) — I’m not sure if anyone else was working on it.

How did you come to work with studio1c?

When I started, I noticed the website hadn’t been paid attention to. It was originally set up by studio1c, so I reached out to them to provide updates. They understood exactly what I wanted.

We’ve spent under $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since February 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Their work has been very helpful and saved us a lot of time. For instance, we just held a conference — last year, I had to do everything manually, and this year, I was able to do it all on the back end, thanks to studio1c’s work. I was able to see demographics and metrics from people at the conference that were really important to our organization.

How did studio1c perform from a project management standpoint?

Michelle’s professionalism is outstanding. We worked very closely together. We mostly stayed in touch through either email or phone call.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with their professionalism and their understanding of the needs of a nonprofit. They’re in the right ballpark of what we can afford, and they offered us the right information. The studio1c team is an excellent help to our organization.

Essentially, studio1c is my digital team. They maintain the website. If we need to add, remove, or edit the site, they do that. They do virtual tasks as an administrator and manage SEO initiatives, propelling our curriculum and promoting my books on the site. Their team has also researched different solutions that we needed.

I work with Michelle (Website Designer & SEO Strategist).

How did you come to work with studio1c?

A mutual contact recommended that I work with Michelle, saying that she was professional and efficient. It was a long time ago, so I don’t exactly remember how we were introduced.

What is the status of this engagement?

I started using Michelle’s services in 2011, and I haven’t strayed from studio1c.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Not only is Michelle professional, but she’s also a downright good person. She pushes us to gain more exposure on the web, and I measure the success of her work by tracking the number of schools that use our curriculum. Our curriculum is used in New York, Florida, California, and the heartland of the US.

We communicate via email. When I send her an assignment, we establish a timeframe and objectives. Michelle then gets it done. It doesn’t sit, and I don’t have to wait my turn. If needed, Michelle has worked on the weekends. She keeps to the timeline and the budget. It’s been a long time and continues to be a pleasant and professional working relationship.

What challenge were you trying to address with studio1c?

Initially, I needed my website designed and developed. Then, I needed internet marketing services to give me more of a presence online.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, studio1c built my website with a music player, video integration, links to purchase music, an electronic press kit (EPK), and downloads for prospective people hiring me overseas. They streamlined my voice lessons page and added details about my teaching and what I do.

Then, they helped me with internet marketing to create a professional online presence and get more recommendations. They did email marketing with Constant Contact. The team helped me set up LinkedIn and Google My Business, which I’ve gotten quite a few recommendations through. They also helped with SEO. They added and adjusted my keywords, titles, and meta information.

They also did social media management and created my profiles on Instagram and Facebook. They’ve optimized my social networking profiles so that I can rank higher in search engine results, and so people can find me.

Now, they’re redesigning part of the website. They continue to provide online marketing services, working to bump everything up on LinkedIn and elsewhere.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve gotten more work from their services. My jazz quartet got more gigs working on cruise ships internationally (prior to COVID). My online presence has allowed me to establish more of a reputation as a voice coach, which I really enjoy doing, and I’ve gotten more students.

The team at studio1c is amazing and great to work with. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone in this capacity.

The took the difficult world of marketing and SEO and broke it down in terms we could understand. This allowed us to build a company wide marketing project, not just a website, that bled into our sales department. Consistent messaging from our sales team that could be backed up by web content was critical for this project. Studio1c was able provide online site content that allowed our team to expand its ability to sell face to face. It was schedule and deadline based. It was effective and shareable with our team. Everyone had feedback capability as the project progressed

They did what they said they were going to do in the time frame they said they were going to do it. We never felt we "didn't understand marketing" or "SEO was very complicated". They are able to break complex ideas down to a usable level.

I’m the general manager of Ridge Café. We’re a small, locally-owned restaurant and café.

What challenge were you trying to address with studio1c?

Our location is not ideal, and we needed more visibility, a stronger market presence, and a social media presence. We also needed a functional website. It was a lot of marketing and design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We originally hired them to build our website, and then we transitioned them into doing management of our Facebook page. Now, they’re part of our team to help with marketing ideas and implementing our ideas. They offer their expertise to get the word out about Ridge Café.

They basically built our website from scratch, developed our logo, implemented online ordering. They’ve also done photography of our food and put the pictures on our website. They also put our menu online.

They now handle our Facebook, LinkedIn, and Snapchat accounts. I’m not too familiar with those platforms, though. They do daily posts, and, during the busiest time of year when we don’t need to spend a lot on advertising, they do weekly posts. Right now, they’re ramping up for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our sales are only down 35–40% now while similar businesses around us are down 80%. We went from people not knowing where we were to people making a concerted effort to get to us. The impact on our business has been fantastic.

The site itself is very healthy. They send me an SEO report every month, and it just keeps getting better as they continuously improve the site. Our rankings are fantastic.

How did studio1c perform from a project management standpoint?

On-time is an understatement. I’ve had a hard time getting other people to respond in weeks, but studio1c gets back to me within the hour, if not right away. They constantly exceed their deadlines. If I give them one week, I often hear back in 2­–3 days. They’re professional and timely.

We communicate over Zoom and email, and we have face-to-face meetings when we announce things. They sit in on our bigger, all-hands meetings as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They bring expertise in social media and marketing to the restaurant that I don’t have. Additionally, their professionalism stands out. They make us look great. We’re a small mom-and-pop restaurant, but the site makes us look glamorous. They step everything up.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not that I can think of. We’re all learning together, figuring out how to navigate this, but I honestly have no complaints whatsoever.
