I am the Professor and Faculty Director of CORNERS: The Center for Neighborhood Engaged Science & Research at Northwestern University

The Center for Neighborhood Engaged Research & Science (CORNERS) is housed at Northwestern University’s Institute for Policy Research. We develop transformative research projects with community and civic partners aimed at improving health and safety for more equitable neighborhoods.
CORNERS is more than an acronym. It is the intersection of forces, an urban place where the confluence of a city system and the built environment create social geometries; unique angles and intersections where friends and unknowns come together.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

We partnered with Pax for a full naming and branding of a young organization. Key deliverables included: name; branding, logos, wordmark, and lock-ups; website development; conference materials (e.g., signage); development of "swag"; and other digital assets. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Hitting key deliverables. There were also key moments when Pax shared in-progress ideas and storyboards--this was a HUGE help as it felt like we were not left in the dark on some of the decision processes. Felt great to be included. 

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Overall, the team hit most major deadlines and delivered amazing services and products. I think our team experienced some confusion as non-design outsiders on some of the jargon and expectations during the start of the project, but those quickly ironed out as our team and Pax developed shared language and expectations. It was also often much better to be in person than virtual for ideation sessions.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They truly NAILED the branding and identity--I felt like they understood our mission and cared about it. They asked terrific questions and always felt like a partner. I feel like the naming and branding really captured the essence of the work. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Studio Pax could have done differently?

More regular updates or check-ins especially when there are deadlines and/or when things are delayed.  Some lags in communication on both Pax and our end that I think was part of learning curve.

Studio pax has developed and maintained our national website. This has also extended to sub pages for each of the projects within our portfolio. 

Studio Pax also assisted with maintaining the functionality of our websites including cert renewal, submission forms, and more.

A successful website that supported our company over the most pivotal years of growth in our portfolio and employee count.

We maintained regular check-ins with this team, ensuring we stayed coordinated on all deadlines and deliverables. Overall we have a very successful partnership maintaining our sites.

The team at Studio Pax is a small, intimate one. This lends itself to excellent customuer service and always keeps us feeling very involved on our web develoipment milestones.

Any issues we have had with our websites have been a result of the restrictuve wireframes they exist on, not with Studio Pax's willingness to work with us and make recommendations on how we can seek solutions.
