I’m the head of infrastructure and technology at Brigham Young University’s law school.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Stotion?

We hired Stotion for branding work and later a major overhaul of our website’s primary page designs.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Stotion started the website project by mapping our existing site’s navigation and measuring its usage data. They then created a series of conceptual designs and wireframes to position our calls to action better. Optimizing our traffic and increasing interest in admissions were the primary goals of the project. Stotion also created some iconography and artwork.

For the main website, we developed the site based on Stotion’s designs. However, in the cases of a few academic conference websites, Stotion did both the design and frontend development. They also helped build a mobile app in React for an affiliate organization, which required a little bit of backend work on their part. The app lets users register for organizations, learn more about different groups, and volunteer for available assignments.

How did you come to work with Stotion?

The principal at Stotion had done some branding for our school while he was working at another company. We were impressed with his quality of work, and Stotion further impressed us in the bidding process. They beat out the other designers we were considering in quality, reputation, and great value.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The collaboration started in January 2017 and is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The redesigned website saw its traffic increase by a third. One of our main goals was to attract new users interested in law school to our admission pages. With Stotion’s help, we achieved that. Stotion’s mobile design also increased our discoverability on mobile search, and we saw traffic there grow by 70%.

Anecdotally, we received a lot of compliments on the design styling. Users specifically commented on how it felt fresh and new. For the conference pages that Stotion designed, attendees universally praised the look, feel, and organization of the sites.

How did Stotion perform from a project management standpoint?

Stotion has been outstanding. They meet their deadlines and remain patient when we fail to meet ours. We mostly communicate through email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Even at the bid stage, Stotion showed that they have exceptional vision and creative talent. Their artistic vision exceeds that of any other provider we’ve dealt with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything in particular. If anything, we have to try to keep up with Stotion.

Any advice for potential customers?

Engage Stotion as early as you can in the project. There were several areas that we believed we had thought through deeply that Stotion helped us rethink. The sooner you get them involved in the project, the more successful it will be.
