They have developed multiple websites for us as our practice and services grew. They also help us with logos and branding. They have been providing continuous "back end" support as well. Most recently we decided to rebrand or main website and integrate all of our services under one umbrella.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to update our website, rebrand our concept and integrate our services into one cohesive message.

How did you select this vendor?

I have been working with StatenWeb for several years now and their service has been impeccable. There was no debate that we would use their services for this project.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Mr. Gargano was open to exploring new marketing ideas and joined our team for an entire day marketing seminar with a company that we choose. He then took the ideas that were discussed on that day and turned them into a e-reality. We created a new site that allowed us to move all of our services under one roof and provide our users with a streamlined experience and a cohesive message.

What was the team composition?

My team consisted of 4 staff members who worked with me on my end to strategize and then I communicated directly with Mr. Gargano.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The impact that this project has on my business is that it not only gave us a new "look" but it has helped us created a clear cohesive message as to who we are. However, StatenWeb has been our go-to for several years. Having them on our team has made it seem like we have a full time web staff on our side.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They're professional in every sense of the word. Every deadline was met and exceeded. After hour responses when needed. Immediate trouble shooting and fixing.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are very flexible in how they work and their pricing strategy. When we first started out several years ago our budget was limited. The pricing strategy allowed us to get started and make affordable payments. This has allowed us to grown and flourish.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the director of digital content for a broadcast network, which is a cable television network broadcasting sports and events nationally and internationally. I handle the digital content, which includes the website and various video content outputs to our social platforms, as well as app engagement.

What challenge were you trying to address with Statenweb?

A number of years ago, our full-time web services company disbanded, and we had to seek out a nimbler web support team to help us keep our website going on a WordPress platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Statenweb has worked with us for a few years on a monthly retainer to maintain our website and recently helped us to conduct a complete refresh of our site, turning it from a WordPress blog to a website more befitting a corporate television network.  

Mat (Chief Technologist, Statenweb) is our primary contact for updates and upgrades and any other technological need that we might have. He worked with a designer to develop the graphics and overall look of the site, but Matt handled all of the backend development and UI/UX programming singlehandedly.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with Mat and the designer who partnered with him.

How did you come to work with Statenweb?

I heard about Statenweb through contacts I had from a previous company, and they really seemed to fit the needs that we had at the time. We were looking for someone who was very nimble and who was willing to come on from a more flexible standpoint and just perform tasks when necessary.

What is the status of this engagement?

We kicked off the relaunch in April 2019 and they are continuing to work with us to provide maintenance and support.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Mat’s knowledge of WordPress and the backend was extremely impressive. He was able to fulfill any request we had and worked seamlessly with the designer to create a really well-balanced product between aesthetics and functionality. The new site was perfect when we launched, which is incredibly hard to pull off.

Beyond just executing the vision for the website, he was also a big part of the wireframing process. Because of the experience he has with a variety of different sites, he was able to ask questions and think critically about things I hadn’t even considered.

When we made changes to the plan as we moved forward, he was always honest about evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of different options and completely accommodating of those decisions.

How did Statenweb perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication from day one was great, which was a big part of why I felt so good about going forward with the project. Not only that, but his predictions as to costs and timelines were accurate, so he was always able to deliver on his promises. We used biweekly calls as well as email and Trello to make sure that everyone was on the same page in terms of communication.

One quality that I really appreciate about Mat was his ability to stick to a deadline, which not only helped him deliver on time but helped us stick to the timelines that we had set for ourselves. He was very cognizant of telling us if things were going to take more time and gave us very realistic expectations about what the process and end result would be.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mat is a very personable guy, even without ever having met him in person. He’s a great communicator over phone and email, and he is able to balance professionalism with enough personality to make the engagement enjoyable and painless. It was like he was a part of our team even though he’s never set foot in our offices.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I really don’t think there’s any room for improvement in his work. We’ve always been very clear about what we wanted him to do and he was able to complete all of those without any bumps in the road along the way.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Especially with remote engagements, it is important to be very clear upfront about what it is you want. Mat is detail-oriented, so the more specifics you can provide to him, the better he will be able to envision, improve, and execute your product for you.

I’m the marketing manager for Anevel Arts Center. It’s a new, 200-seat theatre in New Jersey that’s scheduled to open in April 2019.

We needed a highly-functional website for the seven performances a week we are presenting, full with CRM and ticketing integration. The center also has a restaurant attached, which needed to be included on the website as well.

How did you select this vendor?

We found StatenWeb on Google. After having an interview with their team, we found out that we actually knew several of the companies that had worked with them. Their stellar reviews of StatenWeb’s work led our decision in hiring them.

Describe the project in detail.

The first part of the project was to have a landing page built with CRM integration while the center was being constructed. Since I had never been part of a website development project, Mat (Managing Partner, StatenWeb) and Arik (Full Stack Software Engineer, StatenWeb) had weekly Google Hangout sessions with me to walk me through the backend of the website and answer any questions or concerns I had.

By giving them a few references to other performing arts center website layouts and highlighting the things I liked and disliked about them, Mat and Arik were able to focus in on what we wanted for our website.

I worked closely with both Mat and Arik.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our website has been live with the ticketing system up and running for over a week now, and we’ve had so many compliments. Our next phase will be integrating the restaurant's menu and an event calendar.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

StatenWeb used multiple project management tools to make sure we were all on the same page when any questions or new additions were made to the website.

Although they’re only a team of two, Mat and Arik gave me ample attention whenever I needed it. Whether I emailed them, posted in Trello, or messaged them, they would always respond within 24 hours—usually with a solution already available. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to lead me through this project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Every step of the way, Mat and Arik would always take the time to explain what was happening or what they were doing so I had a full understanding of the website. I asked a lot of questions, but they were always patient with me.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No. I can't say enough good things about StatenWeb. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new website, especially for people who have never developed one before.

Please give a brief description of your company.

Our mission is to support the lifesaving efforts of a nonprofit organization. They are the largest independent, nonprofit, fully volunteer emergency medical services organization that provides fast and free emergency medical first response. Their service is available to all people regardless of race, religion, or national origin.

There are more than 2,300 volunteers around the country, available around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. With the help of our unique GPS technology and our ambucycles, medically equipped motorcycles, our average response time is 3 1/2 minutes. 

Our mission is to arrive at the scene of medical emergencies as soon as possible and provide the patient with appropriate medical help until the ambulance arrives.

What is your role at the company?

I am the vice president, overseeing the U.S. office.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was the business challenge that you were trying to address when you approached StatenWeb ?

The challenge was to create a first of its kind platform to leverage an athlete's performance, each game, by getting people to donate to the charity based on a performance goal. Such a platform did not exist from my research.

What were your company’s business goals for the project?

The goal was to design and build a functional platform that could meet the needs of having thousands of people pledging to donate for every point that the athlete scores.

Can you talk about the scope of the project?

The scope was limited to designing and building the website platform, but doing it in a way that was multi-functional.

I had seen StatenWeb's work before and knew them to mix functionality with design successfully.

Dollar size was approximately $30,000 to $40,000 and personnel work hours approximately 75 to 100.

The project was completed in late August of 2014.

The results have been tremendous. The platform now has more than 500 people signed on, and we have raised more than $100,000 thanks to individuals donating toward the campaign.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization, and your role and responsibilities.

I am a senior associate at a boutique corporate and securities firm headquartered in New Jersey, with an outpost in New York. We do mostly corporate and securities transactions with secured lending as part of our practice.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was your goal for working with StatenWeb?

The website that was created for us was not the website for the law firm. It was the website that we had created specifically for a golf outing event that we had done that the firm commissioned. Now, we sponsor the event.

Our goal was to get people to sign up through the website. It was also a marketing piece because we asked some of our top clients to sponsor the event. In order to do that, we had to promise them some visibility and advertising for other clients and other purposes. Although it was a charity event, it was also a marketing and networking event for some of our clients, especially the ones that donated $10,000 to $20,000.

We created an invitation for everybody to visit the website. We did everything through the website, and if anybody was interested in either becoming a sponsor, a donor, or anything else, they used the contact tab. All user information came directly to me, and I followed up with a phone call. That was the purpose of the website, and it performed beautifully.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their work.

StatenWeb did everything, including Web design and development work. Of course, we spoke to them and told them what we wanted. I provided some of the content in terms of what we were writing in the contest that we were holding, and other aspects of the event.

They did everything from the user interface to the back-end, which was exceptionally helpful. They uploaded all the sponsor information and created everything, from top to bottom, minus the text that I updated. We used a WordPress site.

What was your process for selecting StatenWeb with which to work?

I've known the proprietor for a while through friends. We checked their references and looked at some other sites that they did. We met with StatenWeb several times, and that was all we needed to hire them. We vetted them to make sure they knew what they were doing. We've received some very good reviews from the website.

I was able to help them, because some of our clients asked us who developed the site. We've made some referrals, and I believe they’re working with some of our clients.

When was the work completed?

This site is finished. I don’t have anything for them to work on currently. I will probably go back to them to help me update the existing site, which I kept up and running. Once we approach the 2015 outing, we will use them again to help us update it with some other features that we want on there, considering last year’s success.

Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?

We tweaked the back-end of the site a lot because of the different features that we wanted. We made those updates on a daily basis for about a week to adjust minor features once it was completely done. The project took about two to three weeks for the coding part to conclude, which was my primary concern.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?

The event was extraordinarily successful. The site ran perfectly. We have no complaints. It was our first time doing a Web project. We did it for Save the Child charity, and the website helped us raise more than $100,000.

We didn’t use any metrics because we got a great response. We probably sent this out to a couple of hundred people on an email blast. Many of the people visited the site, which we know from feedback from our clients. Many people used the contact tab. We know that they were on the site. I would say that 90 percent of the people that we sent it to were on the site, and then used it to contact us. These were clients and people that we knew, so it wasn’t a cold-calling effort.

We’re very happy with the services that they provided, and I know that we’re going to be using them for the next outing. They got traffic to the site and helped the event be successful.

Is there anything unique about StatenWeb that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?

I haven’t interacted with too many companies that provide similar services. I know that the other firm we used for the firm’s main website was not very good. That vendor was hired through a friend of a partner’s. They did not build us a content management system that we could edit ourselves, it was very difficult to update text, and they charged us for all of the minor tweaks unlike StatenWeb. That was one of the bigger selling points, StatenWeb didn’t send us an invoice every time we asked them to update something on the website. They worked with us and helped us out so we could get to the point where we were satisfied with the product, and we didn’t get an invoice at the end for all those minor tweaks.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?

So far, everything has been good. The project wasn’t that complicated, but I don’t know how these projects are completed normally. We were very satisfied. Two of my clients are also using them. The charity used them as well for another event.
