Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of the Association Executives of North Carolina.


What challenge were you trying to address with Stancil & Company?

We’d been working with a different provider, but they weren’t providing the same level of service we could get with Stancil & Company. We hired them as a strategic financial partner to provide an array of services. 


What was the scope of their involvement?

Stancil & Company has become a strategic partner for us. They work with us during our budgeting process and upload it into QuickBooks. Additionally, they perform monthly financial reviews for us and provide documentation about our finances. Janet (Senior Staff Accountant) works as our bookkeeper and works as almost a nearly daily member of our team, handling all of the coding and preparation for reports. 

The CPA oversees the entire account and checks everything monthly. They also do tax preparation for us. The way they handle our payroll is also very seamless, as it feeds directly into our budget and QuickBooks account. 

What is the team composition?

I typically work with three people from their team. 

How did you come to work with Stancil & Company?

I knew I preferred having a local partner because I wanted someone who understands the association landscape here and our business. I sent out an RFP and offered Stancil & Company the position because they met all of our requirements and were right in our backyard.

They’d also already been invested and engaged within our industry, so they were a group of known, talented professionals. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend between $18,000–$20,000 per year on their services. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We hired them in January 2017 and our engagement is ongoing.


What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Stancil & Company is a team we rely on every single day, so without them, we couldn’t exist. We didn’t have the bandwidth on our team to handle everything, so now that they support us we have an additional level of financial security. All the way around, having a partner that acts like our team but is one arm’s length outside of the company is a great thing for us. 

How did Stancil & Company perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re pliable and fluid, so we work well together. We speak daily and interact on a regular basis. They handle our QuickBooks account and we work very symbiotically together. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I can’t speak highly enough about them. They were great from the start, but they’ve gotten better and better since then. Bringing them on is one of the smartest decisions I’ve made. Whenever I have questions, they’re always there for us. They’re also very reasonably priced and their work is extraordinary. 

As we’ve evolved as a company, they’ve been with us at every step and grown with us. They never treat us like we’re small, even though we are—they treat us like the most important client in the world. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve been extraordinarily happy with them, so there’s no room to improve.
