Sprinble succeeded in completing the requested app, which is now in use by paying subscribers and generating positive user feedback. The highly relatable team helped to develop the app’s functionalities. They delivered responsive communications and flexibility with payments and user requests.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of VivaHealth. We provide care to patients through an app. Our software allows us to track their visits to our stores, the products or medicines they buy, and the services that they access such as checking their blood pressure or BMI. We have health coaches that call them every week and give advice on how to live a healthier lifestyle.
What challenge were you trying to address with Sprinble?
I needed a company to develop my healthcare app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They did most of the design for the app, and they also did the website splash page. They helped us to develop the first version of the Android app for customers that have hypertension. Users can view healthful meal options. The app features many informational pictures and tables as well.
Users complete a baseline survey when they launch the program initially to capture all the right information about them. Then, they complete a weekly survey to track their activities and behavior for the week, and they receive notifications when there’s another survey. The information from the surveys is converted and sent to a health coach who calls and tries to help users manage their behaviors. Users can post messages that other people, especially the health coach, might be able to relate with. There’s an admin dashboard which is mostly informational. Most of the interactivity is around taking the surveys.
Now, they provide ongoing support. They helped us with a few small tweaks. They’re supportive in transitioning to the next stage of development of having someone take it over in-house.
What is the team composition?
We worked mainly with the project manager, a main designer for the Android app, someone on the database side, and a designer.
How did you come to work with Sprinble?
My co-founder used to work in the same working space as Sprinble. We heard from a few other people that they were well known for their work. We spoke with 3–4 other potential development houses as well, but we had a good connection with Sprinble and went with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from September–December 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We have 20 paying subscribers on the alpha version. Everyone who has tried the program has given good feedback, which is a testament to their work.
We’re on the verge of possibly getting into an accelerated program with Google. Beyond building the app, they helped by telling the story of the business we’re trying to create.
How did Sprinble perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re remarkably flexible around payment terms, which was great for us as a startup. They’re also good at listening to customer demands. We had an idea of what we wanted, but we hadn’t planned it out as much as we could have. They helped us with that process, taking it from an idea to concrete features. They’re young, easy to relate to, and agile, It’s been a positive experience.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It felt like they were a part of our team. We could call them whenever we wanted and exchange messages on WhatsApp. They were incredibly responsive. It was almost like we had our own internal engineering team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They should spend more time up front speaking with all the stakeholders to make sure all the input is gathered from everyone, so there’s less of a push to meet the deadline at the end. They met the deadline, but it felt there was a lot of pressure.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Spend time up front deciding what you can do internally and what you want them to do. They do extremely well when their work is clear. They can also do well in terms of structuring the work, but it will save a lot of time if you are clear on what they need to do.
