Web-AR Development for In-Store Nike Experience

Spinning Rock contributed to an in-store experience where visitors could come in and play a web-based AR game and win real-world prizes.  

This activation drove considerable traffic to the Nike Store in London.  

OMIE AR App for Tourism

Spinning Rock worked with the Omie AR team to conceptualize and develop the initial Omie AR platform for iOS. The goal was to create a solution for ministries of tourism, communicating important local stories through immersive and cutting edge content formats while gamifying the experience of tourism itself.

Top Tree: In-Store Cannabis Product Discovery & Rewards

Spinning Rock partnered with Top Tree Agency to develop Top Tree – an AR platform for in-store Cannabis product discovery and rewards. Users are able to scan any product within a Cannabis dispensary to reveal product reviews, AR content, and secret mini games that can lead to real in-store rewards and prizes. The Top Tree App is now available for download at

participating partner dispensaries in Los Angeles, CA.

We worked with Flume's managers and creative teams to create a one-of-a-kind AR effect unique to Flume's brand.  

Integrating feedback from Harley and Jonathan Zawada, we pushed the limits of the SparkAR platform and generated interesting random patterns for every user so every effect use is new.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a performance marketing agency that specializes in digital ads on paid social and search. We manage the annual ad spend for major organizations and are a Clutch-listed agency.

What challenge were you trying to address with Spinning Rock?

We needed a solution for our clients’ creative asset needs. Specifically, we were looking for ad creation, motion graphics, 3D graphics, filters, and more.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We don’t have a creative department, so they served as our creative partner for a series of projects over time. Our team calls upon them regularly for creative projects requested by our clients. They’re responsible for things like animation, AR filters, and more. Their deliverables are typically made for Instagram, Snapchat, and Amazon. 

What is the team composition?

I’ve known Drew (COO) for a while and typically work with him.

How did you come to work with Spinning Rock?

Drew was originally a client of ours before he started his own company. Because of that relationship, I’d seen his work and knew what that team was capable of doing. That’s what encouraged me to work with them for all of our other projects. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $50,000 with them over the years.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in the summer of 2018, and our relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This team is able to turn ideas into tangible concepts and assets. They can handle photography, creative work, music, editing, and whatever else we’ve needed. We’ve built a great relationship over time and have grown accustomed to each other’s processes. They make decisions that work well for everyone involved. 

How did Spinning Rock perform from a project management standpoint?

They were amazing with communication. Deliverables were always on time, and they would respond to our questions within 24 hours. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They act fast on emerging industry trends and embrace new technologies very quickly. Even though I have connections with major companies, they always seem to be ahead of the curve and able to provide our team with new information. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

At this point, clients work directly with creative resources. It may be helpful to have dedicated account managers. I’d also love it if they had a physical location in New York. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Feeding them ideas and allowing them to run with them is the most effective way of getting the most out of their team. Make sure to have strong brand guidelines and goals, though. That will help to guide them.

I am the Creative Director at The Emotional Company, a digital marketing agency based in Atlanta and New York. We deliver personalized digital solutions that ensures maximum traffic and conversions across all digital channels for brands.

We were looking to raise brand awareness for The Emotional Company through engaging Augmented Reality content. We partnered with Spinning Rock to develop a content strategy & a cohesive social media campaign that helped us engage with our audience in a new way.

What were your goals for this project?

We recently expanded our business to Atlanta and wanted to get our brand out there in a fresh and exciting way. We were looking to launch with an exciting yet approachable campaign that had a broad reach. Augmented Reality content development along with Instagram Face Filters was an innovative solution for us to engage with people in a unique way.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Our team was looking for unique social media content and we stumbled upon an Instagram account called @nottabot and saw tons of filters. We played around with all of their filters and learned about the studio who had produced them. We messaged them on Instagram and shared our interest in developing some Instagram Filters for a campaign. They scheduled a discovery call with us and they were able to explain the marketing possibilities using AR. They shared several case studies with us and we were impressed with results. Shortly after, they were able to share a final proposal with us and was extremely flexible with our short timeline. They worked really well with our marketing team and was able to fulfill our needs flawlessly.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

Spinning Rock put together an SOW, final proposal and shared their AR content concepts few days after our initial engagement. We had two discovery calls to discuss our overall marketing goals and details of our campaign. We had productive conversations during the discovery calls because they had already shared their concepts for our campaign. We loved all of 4 of the concepts but we had to choose 3. We allowed them to go into production and they followed up when we were able to review them. Our team was excited to see the filters in action with our own phones and had a preview of what the campaign would look like in it's final form. They walked us through on how to implement them onto our social accounts and we were off to the races.

What was the team composition?

The team composition consisted of the three primary members throughout the entire proejct. There is a Project Manager, Creative and Technical Director. Our main point of contact was with the Project Manager and brought in the Creative Director and Technical Director when needed.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Since working with Spinning Rock, we were able to see 121% increase in social media following and huge increase in engagement. There were many of people landing on our Instagram accounts and we reposted several user-generated content on our stories. This brought in another wave of new followers that we had never seen to our social accounts. Through this effort, we were able to increase our website traffic and exceeded our expectations.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The Project Manager connected with our team once a week via phone and shared updates through email. The weekly calls were very helpful to understand the progress on the project and they made our jobs easier by creating a project timeline tracker. Overall, we were very impressed working alongside Spinning Rock.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are experts in their field, 100%. There aren't many AR content creators in the space to begin with but the most impressive part about this company was their vast understanding marketing and advertisement goals of a business. It was really refreshing to see how creative they were but also how important it is to meet certain business goals.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The process was really smooth overall. AR is quite new so we didn't know what were really getting into until we connected with Spinning Rock and no complaints here.
