I’m CTO of CrimeDoor, an application that registers criminal cases, unsolved mysteries, and notorious crimes. It provides the user the information in various formats such as: podcasts, images, police reports, recreated crime scenes through augmented reality, and much more.
For what projects/services did your company hire Somnio Software, and what were your goals?
We hired Somnio Software for the development of a Flutter App that registers criminal cases. We wanted to create the go-to place for anything related to criminal cases. We started with Consulting, they helped with the Management in general as well, and we also required Development and Quality Assurance services.
They initially helped us break down the requirements for the project to start the whole software development process. They created the Front-End with Flutter and used Backend as a Service and Serverless architecture We needed to create the app we had in mind, but we knew it was complex both in the technical part as in the short times we were counting on.
Somnio Software helped us build the app we needed with the quality we expected, the technical level it required, and in the time we needed. We needed to create the app from scratch and make it powerful to reach many users. We wanted an MVP to begin with and then make it scalable.
It was important to us to have back and forth with users to really understand what the app needed and how to truly make it innovative, different, disruptive and cool. We were also searching for investors with this app with the objective of scaling and positioning our product as THE crime platform.
With it, we wanted to contribute with the resolution and visualization of these crimes so that they don’t go unnoticed.

CrimeDoor enables the user the possibility to learn about a collection of criminal crime records. We wanted to provide the whole experience of investigating the case through its recreation with Augmented Reality and other formats. The app required a high technical level and complexity that Somnio Software successfully provided.
Their service included the whole process of creating the app, from the consultancy, the breakdown of requirements in a first phase, the management of the product development, the development of the app and the QA to ensure its quality.

The team was integrated by a Project Manager, four software developers and one QA.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We achieved a very successful app with a large number of users and downloads. The app reached #4 position in News in App Store and continues to rock the stores. The product was a huge help and made a big difference in validating the platform to continue growing the product.
CrimeDoor has proved that there was a big interest in the subject and that we can make a difference to help solve these cases. Furthermore, the media has shown a lot of interest in promoting the app, as well as influencers and users all over social media.

The project management was handled very effectively and professionally. They always focused on communicating clearly and rapidly. Plus, they focused on explaining very clearly everything in all the steps of the process, evenmore they effectively transmitted technical concepts so that everyone understood.
They successfully prioritized tasks and functionalities that would add more value to the product with the reduced time we were managing in mind. In that sense, the management of the project was very efficient regarding the time limit we had.
Somnio software truly went an extra mile to reach the deadlines. Moreover, feedback and transparency between the teams was very important and a key piece in the management of the project.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Jaac is a platform that improves customer service for restaurants and at the same time helps them manage it better. It is the result of an innovative idea to revolutionize the restaurant industry. Our clients wanted to make a significant change in people’s experience when they eat at a restaurant. Jaac includes two platforms: one for the customer and another for the restaurant's employees.
Guest App: When you arrive at the table and sit down you find a QR code to scan. You can read the menu, change the language, choose plates, add specifications, choose your payment method, ask for assistance and so many more options.

CrimeDoor
CrimeDoor is a criminal case register platform where users can learn about a collection of cases through various formats. With the use of Augmented Reality technology that successfully recreates crime scenes, users can experience and investigate the crime as actual detectives.
It is a crime database for the most notorious unsolved mysteries. The app provides case information in several ways, such as podcasts, images, police reports, recreated crime scenes through augmented reality, and so much more.

Meet
Meet is an out-of-the-ordinary dating app dedicated to organizing speed dating events and managing the whole process of the occasion. Its purpose is to promote making connections in person rather than online and using technology to facilitate it.
It uses complex algorithms to connect you with your best matches. The matchmaking algorithm has the function of pairing or discarding users based on the ratings provided in real-time regarding their meet in the round.
All in all, the app allows users to subscribe to the event, guides the rounds where people meet, provides spicy questions to break the ice in the conversations, provides rankings for the dates, and matches you with the best options based on the algorithm.
The app dictates the flow and organizes the speed dating event. It uses QR scanners, matchmaking algorithms, and users' social media to host an immersive event.

We are providing speed dating events at local bars in your local area at any time and anywhere. Our app provides a comprehensive experience for our users.

We were referred to them by another software development company. They could not help us out but Somnio had the expertise and aptitudes we needed.

Meet Texas is the world's first in-person speed dating app that is hosted at local bars. We guide our users through an immersive speed dating experience: which table to sit at, who to talk to, and every detail in between. Our app incorporates a global timer that dictates the flow of a speed dating event. QR scanners, matchmaking algorithms, and users' social media are used to host an immersive event.
It’s a simple, honest, and direct process where 15 men speed date 15 women, in one hour. But we don’t stop there, our app will then pair users up with their top 3 speed dates based on mutual attraction. We call this Round 2 dates; we convert speed dating into a matchmaking experience.

The team was composed of one UX/UI designer, one project manager, one QA specialist and 4 software developers.

With the help of Somio, we were able to complete a fully functioning beta app. This beta app helped us garner local attention and potential investors. We are currently securing a new agreement (with investor funds) to further develop our app with brand new features.

Our project manager was amazing. He was a great coordinator and facilitator between our company and the project team. He was also a great collaborator, advisor, and friend. We would meet once a week for 6 months. During these meetings my company would get briefed on the team’s progress and the future plans/tasks for the upcoming week.
These Sprint reviews helped me better understand the software development process and gave me a better outlook on the project, turning something that I thought would be too complicated to understand into an engaging, learning experience.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The open level of communication between my company and the whole team. It made the process inclusive, transparent, and collaborative. There was never room for lack of communication. From being able to message the UX/UI designer to the CEO and anyone in between, it made the whole experience smooth and comfortable. I especially enjoyed getting notifications from Jira regarding the tasks being worked on by the team. Every aspect of the partnership was clear and transparent.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Not one thing comes to mind. Given the task at hand, Somnio came through for us in every aspect.

What surprised me the most about the company was the ease with which they presented things and how organized the communication and process with them was. I never felt lost or doubtful of how the project was going to turn out. We felt accompanied and supported in the technological part and in making our business a reality. The goal for this project was to successfully define, design and develop a mobile app that improves the payment process for construction industry. We needed someone that we could rely on and get results transparently. We were striving to build a first functional version so we could start attracting investors, early adopters and get feedback early on.

They assisted us with consulting, designing and development. First, they helped us by understanding and defining the different requirements that the platform is needing, prioritizing them and separating them by version to have a clear roadmap and know where to focus our efforts. They communicated very clearly when discussing the requirements, were very attentive to detail and helped understand the behavior with diagrams for some complex features. The designs of the application were user-friendly and they put special focus in the user experience, which we really care about. We were frequently communicating and having meetings where we validated the progress. They built prototypes that were great for validation before moving forward to the final designs. The development and management was very organized, they made great technological suggestions and were very careful with the process which led to a successful and high-quality application.

There were 7 people that covered different roles in the project, including project managers, developers, designers, QA and the CEO. The team who worked diligently to meet our specific needs and we were very glad with their work. They really know how to work in a team and complement their skills with others for better results.

Somnio is our technical team that guides us in all the steps of the process to build a mobile application, giving us a better understanding of what is the current state, helping us define what we need and suggesting next steps. We hired Somnio for a consultancy on the development of an application for ARK. We began identifying technical problems the app presented and other regarding the software processes in order to improve them.
In the beginning, we carried out a consultancy in order to document the current system, survey new requirements, define an architecture, and improve the software processes.
Afterward, we entered a stage of improving all the processes, tools, and technological stack that was used. In this phase, we correctly implemented the development environments and the technological stack tools.
Ultimately, the next steps to follow were proposed in order to continue growing and scaling the product correctly.
They provided many solutions on how to continue building the system and what was the best way.
The last stage consisted of a web and back-end development sprint. We also put a special focus on correctly integrating with amazon web services.

The team consisted of a Business analyst and a Software Architect.

After launching our site, we saw a 70% increase in traffic, and our incoming leads doubled month over month thanks to the landing page.

It allowed us to set the correct path in order to be able to deploy the application correctly. This helped put the application in production on time and allowed us to show customers and provide them with a system.

The management of the project had no major difficulty. The timelines were well defined and the tools used were very useful to manage and implement changes quickly.
The objectives were clear from the beginning and were divided into two phases: firstly, a consultancy to analyze current problems and secondly, fixing the most important problems and leaving everything ready for future improvements if necessary.

What we appreciated the most was the clear and quick communication that was maintained throughout the whole process. We really valued that they completely understood our needs and the deadlines that we handled.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of Group Home Biz. We’re an assisted living and group home consulting company that provides resources throughout the US.
What challenge were you trying to address with Somnio Software?
We worked on a mobile application that would help our clients manage their clients – the residents within their homes. One of the challenges we had was we had a backend system but we weren’t happy with the frontend.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve worked with them for a few years on various projects. They gave technical advice and consulting since we didn’t know how to develop the software.
They provided architectural reviews, guidance, and other know-how to solve problems. We took that to try to develop a framework. We had complicated tasks that we needed to get done which their team immediately worked on. They used Flutter, PHP, Adobe, and JavaScript.
Somnio Software created the frontend of the mobile application and integrated that on our existing backend solution.
What is the team composition?
Several people worked on the project – a senior mobile developer, a backend developer, a web developer, and a desktop developer. I was mainly in touch with the main project person.

The feedback on the project has been pretty straight forward. The customer satisfaction is high and the platform is easy-to-use. That, alone, is the best measurement for me.
How did Somnio Software perform from a project management standpoint?
We mostly communicated through virtual meetings. Their communication skills were high.
They would set schedules and then be there on time. Sometimes, we were even laxer and we would get there late, but they were always professional. We also used other platforms to communicate such as WhatsApp, Zoom, and email. We’re satisfied with their level of communication and project management.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their breadth of knowledge and professionalism impressed us. They stayed on the target and they kept us updated on the tasks. It was really impressive how they managed all the engineering work.
I want to stress that their communication skills were excellent and very thorough. Their ability to conceptualize and gather requirements was also excellent – that was one of the biggest things for us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There's nothing that I could think of for them to do better. They knew what they were doing and they did a good job on that. They were excellent.

Somnio provided us with technical consulting, development and maintenance of a website. During the consultancy, they analyzed which was the best way and design for the solution, giving suggestions both from a technical and a business point of view.
Then they began to make the prototypes of the website and sending us versions to get our feedback throughout all this stage. They asked us in detail for everything they needed from us and then turned those ideas into an attractive, efficient and fast web application.

We hired Somnio Software for staff augmentation services. We were looking for extra developers to help us push towards launching an educational platform that was going to be the basis for managing classes assistance, students tests, practice and more. When we were looking for staff augmentation, we could have hired other companies, but we already knew the Somnio Software team and we knew that they were going to be efficient and deliver an excellent job.

The goals for this project were integrating and improving an already existing product. We worked based on priorities at that time and decided what needed to be improved.

They provided us with senior backend and full stack developers in order to work with our team on the development of the product. We arranged an amount of hours weekly where they worked really closely with us having meetings with the client to understand their needs and suggest different solutions, keeping in mind advantages and disadvantages.

The project team had one senior backend developer and one senior full stack developer.
