Mobile app for Heating Installation Architects
For one of its clients working in the energy market, Design & Business created a mobile application for designing heating installation insulation setups. A team devised by Solwit prepared and implemented the whole testing process, including documentation, and conducted advanced functional tests of the product. The high-quality application was ready to work in eight weeks.
CHALLENGE
The client required quick and effective testing of a mobile app. The development stage had already been finished. Conducting functional tests was necessary.
The application was intended to facilitate the designing of insulation setups for district heating substations – the required modules were chosen from the app’s inventory and the final specification was automatically forwarded to the proper company divisions, including the production.
The application would also provide the option to create a site map, including heating installations, and annotate it with additional information regarding the project.
SOLUTION
A two-person team of testers from Solwit was established within a day from signing the contract, conducted a range of functional tests, and developed a testing specification with a test plan solidifying the process. The entire assignment took only 8 weeks and was conducted in accordance with ISTQB guidelines.
The Solwit experts worked directly with the client’s programmers who developed the mobile app. They assumed the role of the user and to test the application effectively learned the basics of the trade, such as how installation schematics are created and what sort of documentation is used.
EFFECT
As a result, the client received a fully tested, high-quality, native mobile application.

Everyday use device fitted with IoT solutions
The client is a manufacturer of room and bathroom heaters, electric heaters, and heating system accessories for European markets. In 2018, the company decided to expand its portfolio to include a modern line of radiators with automated heating management module.
CHALLENGE
The customer’s products were not competitive enough in the innovative market of smart devices.
The client offered products with Bluetooth connectivity, however, they still required human operation and close proximity to the remote. The decision was made to enhance the devices with the ability to be controlled from anywhere, thus being highly competitive in the innovative SMART product market.
SOLUTION
SMART software for automatic room temperature control.
To increase the competitiveness of their products, the client decided to create an application to automate room temperature control – the heating output would be adjusted automatically based on the ambient temperature.
The application use would also result in time and power saving, as well as unlimited control over the system regardless of the user’s location, via the internet connection. Users would be able to set the required temperature remotely, via a mobile application, by voice assistant solutions such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, and the IFTTT service. The option to configure the devices would reduce heating costs without any negative impact on the comfort of their users.
Currently, the application and all devices included in the system communicate via wi-fi and standard routers. The app makes it possible to divide the building into independent heating zones and regulate temperature for each of them separately.
EFFECT

Real-time analysis of pharmaceutical data
Solwit supported Farmaprom with its knowledge and experience in building BigData analytical systems. We provided consulting and support on BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform to help the client succeed in building their own solution for managing large amounts of data.
CHALLANGE
The overloaded transaction database was impeding further business development.
The transaction database had reached its limits of stored data. Any analysis of its content required too much time and due to high loads to the system had to be performed at night. Lack of resources made the analysis of huge amounts of historical data impossible. Therefore, making market forecasts and proper business decisions was extremely difficult. With no ability to collect more data the expansion of the business and its client base would come to a halt.
SOLUTION
Cloud-based data collection and analysis employing BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform.
After assessing the situation, it became obvious that not only did the solution have to allow collecting large amounts of data, but also provide tools for analyzing it and presenting reports in a clean, visual form. Solwit proposed utilizing the power of business cloud solutions – the best choice was to move the data from SQL to BigQuery and create one’s own Datalake.
RESULT
A scalable database, real-time data analysis, and clear reports.
BigQuery made it possible to analyze both historical and the current data in real-time – in a matter of seconds, instead of many hours as it had been before. FarmaProm developed a new comprehensive Business Intelligence tool to produce dedicated management reports.
Apart from scalability and powerful computing capabilities, the cloud solution opened a spectrum of new analytical and reporting possibilities.

Courier application for local hospital
Our client, the University Clinical Center in Gdansk is one of the largest hospitals in Poland. It has modern diagnostic and clinical facilities.
THE CHALLENGE
Creating a system to control the delivery of parcels from the warehouse to hospital wards.
Our client needed an application for warehousing that would help to effectively manage the flow of the parcels with medical components from the internal warehouse to hospital wards.
There were several situations identified as obstacles in the staff work.
Firstly, people involved in the delivery process did not exactly know where the parcel was currently located.
Secondly, traditional shipment management comes with a risk that the parcels might get lost or be sent to the wrong branch.
Lastly, all delivery documents were transferred on paper. Creating them, signing, keeping records, and reporting was very time-consuming.
Our client needed a solution that would speed up and simplify the process of issuing parcels to the recipients.
THE SOLUTION
Web and mobile e-Courier app.
We created the e-Courier system: a mobile and web application.
The app provides real-time access to parcel status information. Creating and using barcodes reduces the risk of human error. Parcel tracking helps to correctly identify the moment and place in which it has been lost, and the pickup is confirmed by using a personal identifier (LDAP).
The warehouse and logistics management system allows issuing and collecting parcels after scanning the barcodes.
The database enables the system to store orders or ward data and collect valuable statistics. The system works with a barcode label printer.
THE EFFECT
Efficient management of the highly secure process of delivering medical components to hospital wards.
The app we created makes a great improvement to the hospital’s processes.
Creating the app using a technology that allows its further development is another advantage of this solution.

Please describe your company and your position there.
The Estyl.pl online store has existed since 2004. It is one of the first online stores in Poland and the fastest growing in the industry of professional hair, body and nail cosmetics as well as various accessories and hairdressing equipment. It offers over 4,000 products from over 90 brands. He has over 350,000 completed orders and tens of thousands of satisfied customers.
For what projects/services did your company hire Solwit SA?
Along with the dynamic development of our company and the increasing number of products in our offer, we noticed the need to implement advanced analytical tools that would help us manage reports, e.g. coverage margin report and sales records.
To determine the profitability of sales, we obtain information on product prices from various sources: online price comparison websites, producer price lists, and our own sources. We needed a tool that would automatically collect this data in one place and quickly allow us to define our own pricing policy.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We started with researching analytical tools and systems available on the market. We considered Snowflake, Power BI and BigQuery. We spoke with partner representatives of these technologies. Solwit prepared a dedicated system demo for us using BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform. We knew that they had experience in the implementation of such projects, including for the pharmaceutical industry. After comparing the offers, knowledge and experience of our partners, we decided on the solution proposed by Solwit.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The aim of the project was to obtain business reports allowing to increase the profitability of the company. So far, a team of analysts was involved in generating reports, which took up to several days to prepare the list. We wanted to see these reports faster in order to be able to make the right business decisions on an ongoing basis, depending on the changing market situation.
We needed an advanced analytical tool that would analyze information from various sources quickly and unattended. We wanted to implement the project without major investment expenditures. The rapid development of the company meant that information on the profitability of products introduced to our online store's offer has become a key element of management documents.
We wanted to consciously make commercial decisions. The margin predictions have a significant impact on the future of the business, which is why we decided to implement an advanced analytical system. We considered various technologies. Solwit recommended a solution based on Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
After watching a dedicated demo prepared by Solwit, we decided to implement this project. A system was created that automatically and periodically downloads data from many external systems. An unquestionable advantage of this solution is the lack of limitations in the number and type of data sources.
Previously, collecting data took several days, because it was done manually by our employees, and the preparation of reports integrating the data took up to several hours. Today, we receive transparent dashboards presenting structured data from Data Studio in a second, without involving the working time of people responsible for analytics.
As part of the project, our main analyst was trained in the field of Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery, thanks to which we can make changes on an ongoing basis. The simple handling of resources in the cloud by our employee allows us to develop the tool on our own.
Today, the system quickly transfers data to BigQuery, with low infrastructure maintenance costs. After implementing the system that allows us to analyze the most important data today, we decided to extend our cooperation with Solwit with new orders in the area of data analytics.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
On the part of Solwit, the following persons were involved in the project: GCP architect, GCP engineer and Project Manager. Data analysts and business stakeholders participated in the project on the client's side.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
After just three months of cooperation with Solwit, we have implemented a satisfactory analytical tool in the assumed budget, which allows us to quickly generate reports. In cooperation with Solwit, we develop this tool by adapting it to the changing business environment. We did not incur any financial outlays related to infrastructure and licenses. All data is collected and processed in the GCP cloud.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We evaluate the cooperation with the Solwit team very positively. At the beginning of cooperation, he will find out
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We evaluate the cooperation with the Solwit team very positively. At the beginning of our cooperation, we learned what the reporting implementation process looks like and we were trained in the use of GCP.
During the project, we received all the information, and each of our ideas was analyzed and implemented by Solwit, if possible. The team showed great knowledge and experience, as well as flexibility and openness to our business needs.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Please describe your company and your position there.
ZETO Lublin has existed since 1966. One of the first IT companies in Poland, which today serves primarily public administration institutions in the field of creating and maintaining systems for document circulation, purchasing platforms, personal data protection and dedicated software for business customers.
For what projects/services did your company hire Solwit SA, and what were your goals?
We implemented a project to create a purchasing platform with an external partner. Unfortunately, the selected supplier did not meet the expectations - functionalities were delivered with a delay, communication problems grew.
The Solwit company had a team of specialists "on the spot", which allowed us to accelerate the design work, and thus deliver the product on time. One of the goals of the project was to enable the generation of PDF files with the data obtained after completing the offer form on the purchasing platform.
We also needed to create offer forms with advanced validation, which depends on the mode of the purchasing procedure.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We knew Solwit from previous conversations about other projects. We were aware that Solwit has a team of experienced .NET programmers, and we needed this technology. Additionally, they were available immediately, which was crucial from our point of view.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Before Solwit joined the project, it was carried out by another partner who did not deliver the results on time. Therefore, we decided to hand over the project to the engineers from Solwit. We provided them with the necessary documentation.
First, Solwit focused on a thorough code analysis and error correction. In the next step, Solwit started working on the construction of offer forms and their validation. The project was completed on time, the code quality complies with the requirements, all functionalities meet the assumed expectations, and the system works properly.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked directly with three backend / full stack developers and one frontend developer. Additionally, on the part of Solwit, a project manager with many years of experience in projects related to public procurement participated in the project.
We consulted every problem with them. They proposed solutions and provided everything we needed.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
In just a few weeks, together with Solwit, we managed to close the project for our client. The delivery was questionable, but thanks to this, we can still provide services to our client from the public administration sector.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Cooperation with the Solwit’s team was smooth. Working meetings were held every day, during which strategic decisions were made, we shared ideas and found solutions to emerging problems.
Thanks to this, we observed the rapid progress of work, which resulted in delivering the effects on time at a very high level of quality.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We are impressed by the very quick response time - the frontend project started in less than 48 hours from the order. We are impressed by the high level of competence of the Solwit team and the transparency of communication at every stage of the project implementation.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The quality of the cooperation was great - no comments.

Please describe your company and your position there.
We are a technology-based company with over 30 years of experience in international educational publishing business. We offer a complete suite of advanced software applications supporting all stages of ePublishing processes. I work in the international marketing department.
For what projects/services did your company hire Solwit SA?
Our major target are educational publishing houses around the world that intend to create interactive versions of their traditional textbooks, coursebooks or any other printed matter. To do so, we needed to have a proven software, developed in line with the newest trends in technology and, most importantly, user friendly. That is the main point of our cooperation with Solwit. Additionally, Solwit develops our Learning Management Platform in terms of technology and infrastructure.
What were your goals for this project?
The goal was to focus on the development of our business, without devoting too much time to technology, servers and infrastructure.
How did you select this vendor?
We chose Solwit due to their enormous experience in working with some of the biggest companies around the world. The fact that they cooperate with, for instance, Google made them a partner we could trust.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
Since we wanted to reach global markets relatively quickly, we needed a solution that not only would be reliable, but also had an astonishing array of features to go in line with different customer requirements. Moreover our product needed to evolve constantly, to be perfectly fit with changing needs of the market. Solwit delivered software that we still use, and will use in the next years. To be honest, we do not have the exact knowledge regarding the mechanics behind their solution, and, to be honest, that is the greatest advantage - we can focus on our growth, not worrying about the tech. When it comes to the specifics - Solwit developed the technology background for our two major tools - mAuthor - an authoring tool for publishers, and mCourser - our Learning Management System for educational institutions.
What was the team composition?
As the project has been continuing since a couple of years now, I believe there were a number of individuals involved. What is more, due to the dynamic changes in our cooperation (not only maintenance, but developing new features), there have been different teams involved. To my best knowledge, there are usually around 12 specialists cooperating closely or exclusively with our products.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
The authoring tool that we use, and that was developed by Solwit, has been included in the Top 20 Authoring Tools list, held by Training Industry, for three consecutive years (2017, 2018 and 2019). The primary objective when creating the tool was to develop a solution that would allow non-IT specialists create interactive content (without programming skills). And exactly that was delivered by Solwit.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
The arrangement of the project has been changing over the time of cooperation, however the high effectiveness has always been ensured.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their reliability stands out; they have as little downtime as possible to deliver results on time.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We do not have any major complaints - a trustworthy partner we are not going to change.

For what projects/services did your company hire Solwit SA, and what were your goals?
Solwit designed and delivered a new service that helped to automate and speed up the payout process. Taking advantage of Google Cloud Platform the service proved to be secure, resilient and scalable.
How did you select Solwit SA and what were the deciding factors?
We met one of Solwit’s managers. It was so nice talk that we decided to catch the occasion to accelerate our business with their help. It was worth it.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Solwit provided high-quality software that expanded the capabilities of the STSPay system by automating the payout of winnings.
The combination of our experience in transactional system development and flexibility of App Engine based solutions, made it possible to speed up transaction processing without compromising security systems.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked directly with the team leader of 3 full stack developers, who consulted with us every problem we had to solve. He proposed the solutions and delivered everything we needed. We also communiacted directly with the whole team.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The payout time is three times faster. The transaction processing has been accellerated, without compromising security. The new data warehouse allows to better adjust the offer to customers' needs. The automation of the payout process lowered the costs of the service.
Customers may celebrate at the moment they win. 10x less workloads to be performed, 3x faster transaction delivery, significant transactional cost reduction and customer celebration at the moment of winning - that's what process automation actually means.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
The project manager that was assigned to us was very easy to communicate with. He was always for us and answered every question we had. We have annual meetings, and we were updated about progress in the project step by step.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We were very impressed with the high level of knowledge, transparency of communication, tremendous experience and great team spirit.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing I can think of.
After three months of engagement with Solwit SA, the company successfully developed a satisfactory analytical tool within the agreed budget, enabling them to generate reports quickly. With the tool, all data is efficiently processed in the GCP cloud. Solwit SA was flexible and knowledgeable.
