For most travelers, the main challenges are figuring out all the local experiences and connecting with destination experts. Our offering addresses those challenges, and technology plays a big role in how we create those experiences, so we needed a technology partner to help us build our product.

What was the scope of their involvement?

SolGuruz has helped us develop a customized web platform and mobile app for us. Throughout the project, we’ve worked with them to keep improving it using a classical design and development cycle. First, we define the requirements and create a functionality matrix. Then, we provide those requirements to their technical team and discuss the functionality and design for them to take it from there.

We always try to set clear requirements, but sometimes those requirements evolve during the development process because we’re in a very new space. After finishing the development process, SolGuruz helps us with the classical feature rollout. However, if any changes are needed, we work together on those changes in a very flexible manner.

Our product has two sides. On the web platform, customers can log in and design their own travel plans and talk with a destination expert, and they can also select from a lot of curated experiences. As for the mobile app, it is both for iOS and Android devices. On it, customers can have their entire travel guide at their fingertips and follow the plan they created on the platform. Additionally, they can keep in touch with us using the chat functionality.

We’re currently working on the project’s next phase, building an integration between the web and mobile sides. We usually do a lot of work on the web platform to keep travel plans and experiences updated, so we’re now trying to ensure the web and mobile sides are well-integrated so that both show the same information.

SolGuruz’s work is directly tied to our sales and service delivery, and our customers are very satisfied with our product. Additionally, we’re a very satisfied customer of theirs, and we constantly bring them back to work on the next development cycle.

How did SolGuruz perform from a project management standpoint?

SolGuruz is almost always on time and on budget. We have a very new business model, so we also appreciate their flexibility in terms of not working under a fixed timeline. It is more important for us to get the right requirements instead of setting delivery deadlines. We use ClickUp to manage the project, and we communicate via emails, phone calls, text messages, and video conferences.

Besides SolGuruz’s technical knowledge, their flexibility in managing evolving business requirements is impressive.

After launching the website, we received positive feedback from our clients. We are excited about moving forward with our next project with SolGuruz.

We hand weekly meetings using Zoom and group chats. In addition, we have multiple sprints within the project where we would test and approve the next steps.

What challenge were you trying to address with SolGuruz?

After initially developing our application, we faced a lot of technical issues. We were creating a lot of content that our technology couldn’t support, so we reached out to SolGuruz to redevelop our application.

What was the scope of their involvement?

First, we met with SolGuruz to share the challenges we faced with our initial application. The team evaluated our existing application and identified problems we hadn’t picked up on. After reviewing our technology, the team determined that our existing application wasn’t scalable from Android to iOS. Then, they brainstormed potential solutions, walked us through their ideas, and developed a wireframe. 

Next, SoloGuruz researched design and market trends, validated their proposal, and we moved into the development phase. We divided the development process into five milestones, including building the technology stack, distributing the application, and beta testing. 

Then, they built a new application from scratch using React, CodeMagic, AWS Cloud, PostgreSQL, and Flutter. They suggested a more user-friendly color palette and used Figma and Photoshop to design the UI/UX. They also created a landing page for us in WordPress and rebuilt our CMS to accommodate more content.

Since launching the application, SolGuruz has deployed two new releases, and they’ve continued to support us with maintenance requests.

We’ve worked with 8–10 team members, including the development team, a UI/UX designer, and a QA lead. Paresh (CEO) and Lokesh (CTO) are our primary points of contact.

We began working together in February 2021, and SolGuruz delivered the application in April 2022. Since then, they’ve continued to maintain the application, so the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

SolGuruz has enabled us to support more users, and we’ve been exceptionally pleased with the results. They’ve fixed all the issues we were experiencing with our original application; customers have been thrilled with the look and feel of the new app. 

They’ve helped us anticipate issues and reframe our view of technology from reactive to proactive. Instead of solving problems after the fact, SolGuruz has considered our users and designed an intuitive UI/UX. Although the design is not a measurable outcome, it has made a world of difference. 

Before engaging SolGuruz, our application consistently crashed due to the amount of content we were uploading. As a result, we received negative reviews from users who enjoyed our content but ultimately grew frustrated with the crashes.

Since deploying the application, our user engagement has significantly increased, and we’ve received great reviews. Users have been able to share playlists without experiencing glitches. Our daily crash rate has decreased from 60% to 6% since launching the new application, and most of our crashes result from users operating older versions of the app. 

Their development efforts have also simplified our onboarding process. We used a faulty AI tool for our initial app, which resulted in 40% of our users exiting the application because they couldn’t find their desired content. SolGuruz has improved our search engine to accommodate different phonetic spellings for words in English and Indian languages. Now, the application presents users with suggestions based on their search and tries to direct them to the appropriate content. 

How did SolGuruz perform from a project management standpoint?

It's not always easy for developers to work with creative people, we’ve been pleasantly surprised with the partnership, and our mindsets have matched up quite well. SolGuruz has a strong sense of ownership over our project, which we’ve appreciated. They’ve patiently held our hands through the development process and gone above and beyond to share innovative ideas. 

Since we produce music from our studio, the team has traveled to meet with us in person, which has been helpful. They’ve consistently met deadlines and operated within our budget. They’ve proactively kept the project on track, nudging us when needed, which has enabled us to launch the application ahead of schedule. 

The partnership has felt like a true collaboration, and we appreciate their open communication style. Instead of assigning tasks in ClickUp, we’ve worked through the project together as a team. We’ve met for video calls and kept in touch via email. 

SolGuruz has also presented progress during our board meetings every six weeks. Many of our board members aren’t tech-savvy, and SolGuruz has been very patient with them. They’ve effectively humanized their technical jargon to appeal to the average user.

Going into the project, we had a clear vision. SolGuruz worked to uncover why our application was failing and how they could help. They immediately understood our pain points, considered our market positioning, and created a solution that worked for us.

We interviewed other developers who approached our project from a mathematical perspective, which hindered them from realizing our vision. SolGuruz has taken the time to listen to our journey and understand our users, leading to excellent results.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app and website simplified event management, ticket sales, and on-site entry using the scanner, which reduced manual work and improved the overall experience for both our team and attendees. Although we don't have exact numbers, we clearly saw improvements. Ticket sales were easier to manage online, entry times were much faster using the mobile ticket scanner, and our team spent much less time on manual check-ins and paperwork. Overall, the system helped us save time, reduce effort, and run the festival more efficiently. We estimate we saved around 30–40% of the time we used to spend on event management tasks. Tasks like ticket tracking, check-ins, and updating event details, which used to take several hours each day, are now handled much faster and more smoothly.  

The app and website were well-designed, user-friendly, and fully met our needs, with features like event management, ticketing, and mobile scanning working seamlessly.  Their work made managing events, ticketing, and check-ins much easier and more efficient. The team was professional, responsive, and delivered on time, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free.
