BACKGROUND

Can you briefly describe your company?

We are a nationwide collection of photography studios with a focus on family and individual portraits. Our headquarters are in Houston, Texas.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What were your goals going into the project?

We wished to increase repeat business at our own studios as well as sell a service to other photography studios. To do this, we wanted to develop a site that would become the social networking site for moms and families. The website would hold and organize all your favorite memories while integrating with your local photography studio.

SOLUTION

How did you discover Softway Solutions?

We were already working with a local company that could not complete any of the work on time or budget. I met Softway Solutions at a local convention, had a meeting with the founder, and he understood our business objective within five minutes.

What technologies are being used?

We initially developed the website with Softway Solutions in Adobe Flex. We are currently working with them to transition the website to HTML 5 and Java for the site to function on mobile devices.

What do you find unique about Softway Solutions?

The founder of Softway Solutions has the background of both a programmer and a businessman. He is able to direct his team to translate business goals and objectives into functional software. Also, despite Softway Solutions being a large company, the founder would occasionally take the time to contribute to our brainstorming sessions and development process.

We are an online retailer of high-end, custom-cut diamonds. We have been in business for about two years, and are based out of the Houston, Texas, area.

What were your goals going into the project?

We needed a full website and mobile application that had a sophisticated backend and visual design that matched the quality of our product.

We were referred to Softway Solutions by a friend.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of the project?

Softway Solutions completed everything from the initial brainstorming of what we needed to implementing the requirements. The backend of the website was quite extensive and included a shopping cart, a way to track our inventory, and the ability for our clients to submit custom orders. After the development was completed, Softway Solutions has worked with us to improve our IT system.

What technologies were used in the project?

The website was mostly completed using PHP, and our mobile applications are available for iPhone and Android. Customers can also order our products through our mobile apps.

What is unique about Softway Solutions?

Softway Solutions is quite good at understanding our core business, and transforming that understanding into working features.

Are there any areas where Softway Solutions could improve?

While Softway Solutions met most deadlines within reason, some deliverable have been delivered in a longer time frame than was initially estimated. The mobile applications were developed very quickly after the website backend was completed.
