Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the COO of FieldAware, a cloud-born SaaS that provides field service management. It enables companies to massively reduce their operating costs and increase field service efficiency. The management features of the web and mobile apps include field service optimization, scheduling, and dispatch.


What challenge were you trying to address with Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd?

Given the expanding scope of our app development project, we wanted to augment our engineering team. We were working to add new functionalities to our application—back-office user features, in particular. We needed more capacity in both front- and backend development in order to hit our delivery targets.


What was the scope of their involvement?

Our teams utilized Python, React, Dojo, and Java to code for the front- and backend.

What is the team composition?

My point of contact was Mark (CEO & Founder, Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd). We engaged four developers.

How did you come to work with Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd?

We found them through a referral. They’d previously worked with other SaaS companies, who recommended them for their ability to deploy projects within budget. This led us to engage them. After formal peer interviews and development tests, their successful candidates joined our team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September 2017–November 2018.


What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their team enabled us to produce the necessary features in a timely manner. Since the features they produced were very high-quality, we didn’t have to troubleshoot after QA testing. I’m very happy with their delivery.

How did Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

Since they essentially became a part of our team, we handled the project management. They partook in our sprints and scrum process and contributed directly to the project as if they were our own employees.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we were on a time crunch and needed to flex our resources, they successfully provided us with great developers on short-notice. Their ability to scale really impressed me. Their professionalism and collaborative skill were also notable. They’re a highly dependable partner who can meet your expectations and standards.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we were very impressed with them. We’ll be taking them up again if another project comes up.

We were always very clear in communicating our needs, so I’d recommend that for any client. Be stringent in your interviewing and selection process before you bring candidates onto the team.
