A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of cloud development at a computer software company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd?

We were short on time and needed to develop new modules.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SOS worked on a few projects, but the largest one was developing an onboarding tool. It was designed for an enterprise customer to allow quick onboarding and integration. Once onboarded, the customer could continue to change the system. Most of their work was development, but there were some UI/UX design efforts as well. They used JavaScript, AngularJS, Angular framework, and Node.js.

What is the team composition?

We worked with up to six people at different times.

How did you come to work with Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd?

I knew Mark (Founder and CEO) had created an outsourcing company. I did consider other companies but ultimately accepted his offer.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested €200,000 (approximately $220,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from February 2017–January 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SOS successfully developed the module. It was delivered on time and then used by some customers. Overall, it was a fruitful project. The modules worked well and featured one of the best designs. SOS has very talented UI designers. In some cases, we were the ones learning from them. For example, they brought Webtec technology to the table.

How did Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

We worked with Scrum technology. There were project management tools such as TSS used by the scrum team. All the tasks were managed through company tools. We had daily and periodic meetings. It worked very well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed by how quickly they began producing results. They did a good job.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything significant. In software development, there’s always something that could be different or better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear with expectations, define milestones, and check progress.

Feedback summary:

Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd proved themselves to be a reliable partner that can deliver on time. They were able to scale their resources to accommodate immediate needs. Their great code negates the need for extensive testing, and their professionalism and competence were very impressive.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the COO of FieldAware, a cloud-born SaaS that provides field service management. It enables companies to massively reduce their operating costs and increase field service efficiency. The management features of the web and mobile apps include field service optimization, scheduling, and dispatch.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd?

Given the expanding scope of our app development project, we wanted to augment our engineering team. We were working to add new functionalities to our application—back-office user features, in particular. We needed more capacity in both front- and backend development in order to hit our delivery targets.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our teams utilized Python, React, Dojo, and Java to code for the front- and backend.

What is the team composition?

My point of contact was Mark (CEO & Founder, Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd). We engaged four developers.

How did you come to work with Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd?

We found them through a referral. They’d previously worked with other SaaS companies, who recommended them for their ability to deploy projects within budget. This led us to engage them. After formal peer interviews and development tests, their successful candidates joined our team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September 2017–November 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their team enabled us to produce the necessary features in a timely manner. Since the features they produced were very high-quality, we didn’t have to troubleshoot after QA testing. I’m very happy with their delivery.

How did Software Outsourcing Services (SOS) Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

Since they essentially became a part of our team, we handled the project management. They partook in our sprints and scrum process and contributed directly to the project as if they were our own employees.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we were on a time crunch and needed to flex our resources, they successfully provided us with great developers on short-notice. Their ability to scale really impressed me. Their professionalism and collaborative skill were also notable. They’re a highly dependable partner who can meet your expectations and standards.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we were very impressed with them. We’ll be taking them up again if another project comes up.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We were always very clear in communicating our needs, so I’d recommend that for any client. Be stringent in your interviewing and selection process before you bring candidates onto the team.
