BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the former sales director of Maroon Pig. They own Lighting Style and that’s the website we engaged SOAR Digital with.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with SOAR Digital?

We wanted to get our e-commerce website up and running at a fairly affordable price.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built our website on Shopify. First, we had a discovery call. It was a casual discussion about the kind of things we were looking for. A week later, they came back to us with a lot of design ideas and imagery of what the website would look like. Following our feedback, they designed how it’d look and feel. Once we approved everything, they went ahead and built the website.

About two or three weeks later, the website was live. After setting everything up, they uploaded the products. The website’s features include filtering by color, carousels on the homepage that have moving pictures, automatic reviews, and a pop up offering the visitor a discount.

A while later, we realized we weren’t sure about how to generate traffic to the website so we started doing SEO with them. That’s an ongoing effort. They write blog posts, build links, and get us on directories.

What is the team composition?

James (Owner) is our main point of contact.

How did you come to work with SOAR Digital?

We were at a networking event in Leeds, and they were recommended to us by somebody else. We reached out to them to start the conversation.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested £1,000 (approximately $1,400 USD) for the website and £500 (approximately $700 USD) a month for the SEO. Six months into the SEO, we upped the spend because we started seeing good results, at this point, it became £1,000 (approximately $1,400 USD) a month.

What is the status of this engagement?

The website was started and finished all within January 2019. Then around June 2019, we started the SEO and it lasted for about a year. Since I left the company, I’m not sure if their engagement currently is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website is tailored to our target audience really nicely. It’s fast and converts really well. We started off with absolutely no traffic because it was a brand-new website. Now, we’re not running any ads and we’re getting about £5,000 (approximately $6,800 USD) per month in revenue. We’re really happy with what they’ve done for us. We have nothing but praise.

How did SOAR Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was brilliant from the start. They used ClickUp, and we communicated mostly through email. SOAR Digital gave us monthly reports on our rankings. What’s more, we could also see all of the tests they did for that month and where their time was spent. We knew exactly what we were investing in. It wasn’t a matter of blindly sending them money and hoping that they’re doing work. We knew exactly what they were doing so that was nice.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The fact that they’re local is very nice. We also really appreciate their transparency and that we can see exactly what they’re doing all the time. This really stood out to us because they provide such great detail, a characteristic we didn’t see in other companies we were considering.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When we first started, we noticed that they don’t have much of an online presence or online reviews. However, that’s probably why they’re now on Clutch so it’s clear they’re making an effort.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?      

After the web design is finished go straight into SEO. We waited for a few months and then realized the need. It makes it much more streamlined.
