Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the global head of AI and digital transformation at a PR and communications services company. We have about 35 offices worldwide; each office has different departments, such as government relations, media relations, and crisis management. The overall team is based in Dubai, but we also have part of the team in the US. We’re also growing into Europe and Jordan.
What challenge were you trying to address with SnowHeap LLC?
We had a technical team in-house, but we needed extra hands.
What is the scope of their involvement?
SnowHeap LLC offers IT staff augmentation services. We work with them on two main streams; one is to elevate our product offerings.
We initially had some ideas for some of our internal processes, which we used to do in an old-fashioned way with Excel sheets. Since they joined, we’ve been changing that. SnowHeap LLC builds our processes into one framework that we can scale and leverage for different problems.
Based on our business logic and requirements, they’ve built the actual framework end-to-end with the backend analytical platform and frontend. SnowHeap LLC has also helped us to offer it to clients and customize it for them.
The platform is like a sponge; we can plug it into multiple data sources, such as survey data and data from social media, online news, and TV broadcasts. Then, the data is fed into the sponge, the analytical platform, and it does the business logic we require. Parts of the business logic are simple statistics, and other parts are AI and language models. The analytical platform is the middle layer, which generates the outcomes that are visualized on interactive real-time dashboards for clients on the frontend.
Additionally, SnowHeap LLC maintains the software and helps us move new releases into production. They also work with us on new features.
What is the team composition?
We work with about six team members from SnowHeap LLC, including the CTO, senior software engineers, senior full stack developers, and QA engineers.
How did you come to work with SnowHeap LLC?
I met them through a recommendation.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $100,000–$150,000 so far.
What is the status of the engagement?
We began our partnership in August 2020 and are still engaged with them.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t measure our success quantitatively because we have to double-check the numbers, equations, and business logic we share with them are correct. SnowHeap LLC implemented the UI/UX design we’ve given them, and the designer was happy with the outcome. From the business logic perspective, it was exactly as we wanted.
How did SnowHeap LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve handled the project perfectly. The team is professional and knows how to communicate, especially in the case of delays.
When we signed the agreement, SnowHeap LLC created a Gantt chart with the timeline and every detail of the tasks, including who was assigned from our side and their side. The Gantt chart is super helpful; we have a weekly call with them to track the progress based on the chart.
Additionally, we use Jira as a project management tool. We have a WhatsApp group to communicate with the developers; we also use Microsoft Teams and emails.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Our business logic has been wrong, and they’ve detected it. Moreover, they’ve suggested models and cleaned up our Google Cloud Platform environment well, even though it wasn’t part of the scope. Overall, they’ve spared us a lot of time and made our work easier.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything at the moment.
Any advice for potential customers?
I suggest defining the requirements and scope and setting expectations well; it’ll help them deliver in the best way possible. Also, communication is key. The more you communicate with them, the more you get out of them.
Internal stakeholders are happy with SnowHeap LLC’s work; they’ve delivered everything exactly as the client wanted. The team is outstandingly professional; they’ve gone above and beyond their responsibilities and managed the project seamlessly using Jira, WhatsApp, Microsoft Teams, and emails.
