Home Builder and Renovations Company

The luxury home building and renovation market is hyper competitive. Lots of home builders with deep pockets compete for a limited number of assignments. In a market where new laws put more pressure on an already tight situation, it's time to get strategic. It's time to combine social media and SEO to get an edge.

This client is a smaller award-winning indpendent home builder with years of experience. The problem was

their search presence was hurting and as a result they had thin traffic to their website.

We implemented a hybrid paid and organic social strategy consisting of dozens of organic posts on both Facebook and Instagram aligned with a disciplined, rigorously tested paid campaign. In our experience, it is very worthwhile to have different organic posts available while a paid campaign is running so that if people leave click out of the paid campaign and view your Instagram or Facebook page, they see there are other things happening.

We also completed a top to bottom SEO review and implemented the keywords and schema so that the new social traffic would trigger positive changes.

It worked. The client's search presence improved dramatically in line with the increase of social traffic which went from zero to 60% of traffic. Interestingly, we also saw an increase in organic search traffic during the campaign periods which suggested that the social campaigns were somehow driving more organic search traffic.

We tested nine different campaigns and continue to refine results with great success.

Many clients come to us after learning that a new website won't make the phone ring. This is one example. Fuse Careers has a beautiful website but there was no SEO so none of the pages were ranking for searches they should be showing up for. More problematic is the tricky target audience because it actually involves two different targets: educated parents and their educated adult children. Luckily, there's a Facebook targeting

option for that!

Knowing these factors, we tended to the SEO on the website and started ranking for key search terms. Then we started running ads on Instagram and Facebook. The sardonic creative was meant to be attention grabbing while at the same time communicating the urgency of the mission: to get a job already.

By using both social media and SEO we grew the traffic to the site from zero to more than 600 unique visitors per month, all coming from the local market where the service exists. For good measure, we wrote a content calendar of social media posts that rotate on both Twitter and Facebook so targets undertaking secondary research can get more advice and follow up with FUSE.

Sky Alphabet Social Media was awarded a prestigious American Marketing Association Marketing Excellence Award in February 2019 for its "Programmatic Audio" campaign for Western Media Group.

As part of the campaign, Sky Alphabet posted to Western Media Group’s social accounts as many as 11 times per day, seven days a week across four social media platforms.

Close to 1,000 different posts appeared

across Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook Google Plus and Medium over the three month campaign period.

Designed and executed as an organic social campaign, strategy was central to finding an audience and then connecting the campaign’s messaging to the target.

“Western Media Group is a highly innovative media marketing firm. We wanted to deliver results that would be consistent with one of the great Canadian independent media brands. Taking an organic long-term approach made the campaign much more challenging but it really paid off,” said Steve Yanor of Sky Alphabet.

The campaign helped to contribute dozens of new clients, a sold out webinar that counted 80 registered guests and hundreds of thousands in new revenue.

Sky Alphabet’s Marketing Awards finalist entry incorporated three insights about social media users:

  1. They are skeptical and dislike ads
  2. They are easily bored and don’t like seeing a brand post the same thing multiple times
  3. They need something valuable in return if they are going to follow and keep following

First, Sky Alphabet tried to understand our company and our clients. Our end users are college graduates, but our clients are usually their parents, which is interesting from the social media perspective because they have different social media profiles. We also discussed our service offerings and how to present those from a search point of view. Sky Alphabet does keyword analysis for us, manages SEO and SEM, and provides advertising services. They've also built our content calendar for Facebook and Twitter.
