I am the Marketing Manager for a cybersecurity firm based remotely in the US. We provide security consulting and compliance, cybersecurity, and data privacy services to startups and SaaS businesses globally.

We hired Seota Digital Marketing to design and build our new website. We had a website that was made for us in 2018 by a freelancer and it was not user-friendly or well-designed.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I found Seota through research and googling web design/development companies. I may have actually found their information through Clutch. I met with 4 or so different web designer/developer organizations and enjoyed the transparency and professionalism Bill at Seota had during our intro call. He was familiar with the industry and gave some good recommendations on sites we should look at for inspiration. He was willing to help before I even signed a contract which was very refreshing.

We had actually already signed a contract with another web designer/developer and were in the process of exiting the contract as they were not receptive to our feedback and were three months behind schedule, on top of being over budget. So having Seota quote us a shorter timeline and more affordable price was a huge selling point after our negative experience with the old company.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We needed a completely redesigned and refreshed website. After my intro call with Bill, I had shared with him and his team some information about Rhymetec: what we do, who our competitors are, some sites that we liked—and his team proposed 3 different design options with me. One was a hit amongst our team so it was an easy decision on which design direction we wanted to go in.

After confirming the design direction, his team built design mockups of every page. Along the way, I was able to easily comment on the designs and request changes where needed. Even when we came across pages where templates didn't make sense with the content provided, they were willing to make the adjustments for me so we would have universally usable templates. Once I approved all pages, they kicked off the back end build which was done within days.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I worked with the owner, a designer, I think an Account Manager (or just another POC) and it seems like a few web developers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We finally have a website that's presentable and user-friendly. It's too soon to talk about "success" as it hasn't even been a month since the launch of the new site, but overall feedback has been great and we are FINALLY able to capture leads on our site. In addition to this, our bounce rate has decreased slightly and the "site duration" metric in Google Analytics has almost doubled, so I am happy to see people are spending more time on our page overall.

So as far as success, I think the site's functionality makes more sense for our team and aligns with our business goals, and the information is much more presentable and engaging for any prospects and clients that come to our site. I hope to see more impactful metrics and KPIs as time passes!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I give Seota 100/10 as far as communication and responsiveness. They would respond to my inquiries within a few hours (at most) sometimes even minutes, and would always provide problem-solving solutions if I had questions or concerns. I always felt my concerns were heard and dealt with in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Speed, communication, and professionalism. They worked on our project quickly without letting quality suffer. they were very responsive throughout the process and handled every interaction and phase like true professionals.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I felt like the front end of the project received a little more TLC than later in the project. The initial mockups were home runs and it set my expectations high for the rest of the project, and as we got deeper into pages I felt like I was suggesting changes more and more to add a little more creativity or to ensure the content was laid out in a way that made sense for the page. However, the team was always willing to accommodate any changes/suggestions I had.

We interviewed 5 firms to find the one that could provide the turnaround time we desired, in a cost-efficient manner. Seota was the most responsive and cost-efficient for our project. Their turnaround time also fit within our goal timeline.

Seota has created a great website in a truly short amount of time. They’ve also used every parameter that we’ve asked them to use, so we’re truly happy with their work. Meanwhile, the website only recently launched, so we don’t have any solid quantitative metrics yet.

Anecdotally, Shelby is a great communicator, so we work well together. We communicate throughout the process as we get things done and stay on track. My peers are pleased with the way that the website has turned out, especially since we have a short deadline. Overall, we’re looking forward to seeing what other developments can come out of the site.

Their project management skills are excellent. Seota has met our deadline, and they give me updates on what they have and where they are in the process. They also let me know what I need to do to help them.

They understood our vision and gave us a professional website. Our customers who used our previous website commented on how nice the new one looked. It’s a little too early to speak about the platform’s ease of use. However, the initial feedback has been great.

Seota developed the new website’s backend. We wanted to keep the original site’s functionalities, so their team investigated the platform to understand its wireframes. While they kept the site’s functionalities, they gave it a supportive platform. The site’s live, and their team’s making tweaks.

We’ve worked with an ad agency for multiple years that managed all of the creative development for this project. They had previous success with Seota, so I went with their recommendation.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Seota Digital Marketing worked with Shopify to gather up the links that they did have. I didn’t provide them with any information. Then, they did really detailed work and got us up and running.

What is the team composition?

One person started on the project, and then another person took over the technical side of things. Bill (CEO) was always available for communication. 

How did you come to work with Seota Digital Marketing?

I Googled people who can fix Shopify. Seota Digital Marketing happened to be the first one I called, and Bill was so gracious. I liked him and the fact that he said he could fix my issue. They have been remarkable.

For what they did, I found their fees to be extremely reasonable. We’ve spent about $700.

What is the status of this engagement?

By the time we reached out to him, it was mid-July. After two weeks of being completely down, we’re selling again. We’re still having a few issues, and they're just incredibly gracious in helping us resolve the last of them. They’re just finishing up bits and pieces.

I give them a 10/10. When we get ready to design a new website, they will be my first call for design and everything else.

They’ve met every deadline. They have people working nights so that they can get us up.

I deal with a lot of people in a lot of different arenas, and most people don’t know anything about customer service anymore. However, Seota Digital Marketing’s team is incredibly helpful and obliging.

I don’t know that they could’ve done anything differently. I wouldn’t know what to do, so I can’t really answer that, but I can say that everything they did worked.

I wasn’t really able to do this, but I’d say to be precise in what you need, and they will be there to follow through and get you what you need.

I’m the CEO of an online job marketplace that has to do with job description optimization. So we help get job postings optimized on Google. For example, if you're hiring a medical assistance to your doctor's office. If somebody just Google searches medical assistant jobs, it will pop up right away.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did everything from the wireframes, to design, UX, and development for a WordPress site. It’s a fully-functioning job board that needed a custom build using PHP and CodeIgniter. To get started, we gave them some documents, PDFs, and thing slice that to give them an idea of how we wanted the platform to look.

What is the team composition?

Bill(CEO) is our main point of contact. We also worked with a project manager named Tim (COO), someone who was in charge of content, and one who was in charge of development.

We were looking for a team that was experienced with customized WordPress plugins. We also wanted them to be able to work with a whole suite of APIs. Specifically, Google Console API, and HubSpot. Searching for that, we found them online.

The project lasted from March–June 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

When we introduced features and ideas we wanted to implement, they already had those designs ready because they discovered it on their own. It was cool that they did market research on how valuable Google can be for a job search ahead of time. We didn’t have to hold their hand through the process at all.

How did Seota Digital Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

They use Google Suite, such as Google Docs and Sheets. We had a shared drive so we could collaborate and update things in real-time. They would pass that back to us as they finished them.

In regards to the timeline, I think we extended it by a week or two but that was significantly quicker than other vendors. We added several things to the scope during development, so that was really impressive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bill was involved in the entire process. We enjoyed working with him specifically because he brought a lot of business acumen to the conversation. It wasn’t just about design and technical requirements; it was about putting us in the best position to appeal to users. He was almost like a consultant.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We used Google for project management, but it would have been nice to track the project on a system that could alert us. We were always in contact, but I just wish I was alerted when things were completed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Go in with an open mind and rely on Bill as a resource. There were things that we thought were great ideas, but Bill’s suggestions were really helpful.

Gardiner Ray, LLC is a real estate appraisal and consulting firm specializing in valuation assignments and owned by Allen Gardiner, MAI, SRA and David Ray, SRA. My position is Office/Operations Manager. This encompasses accounting, human resources & all office operations.

We hired Seota to help us improve our online presence and better represent our brand. We needed a fresh, modern look that would attract prospective business, communicate available services & focus on SEO. We needed a fully functional, mobile optimized, custom built website built on a stable platform, that also allowed for future growth.

What were your goals for this project?

As stated above, our goals were to improve our online presence, better represent our brand, attract prospective business and communicate available services to our target audience. It was also important that the website be user friendly across all platforms.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We actually interviewed several vendors. We didn't know what we didn't know... so the process was very educational. In the end, Seota understood what our goals were, without overselling things that knew we did not need at this time. Due to time constraints, we also needed a content write. They put us in touch with Jamie and she was FANTASTIC! They were very responsive, and that is extremely important to us!

Once we selected SEOTA, they worked on design & development, created mockups, we had a 1 or 2 in person meetings & a few video conferences. The website took longer to get up & running then we had hoped, but that was completely on us, as it took us longer to pull information together that we wanted on the site. Jamie did her best to keep us on track!

Our 2 company owners primarily provided the information to Jamie regarding specific content & I reviewed, made suggestions etc. The 3 of us plus Jamie & Bill all worked together.

What was the team composition?

The team was comprised of Bill (owner) & Jamie (content writer) (SEOTA, plus various people on their end) and our 2 company owners Allen Gardiner & David Ray, & myself. The team size remained the same for the duration of the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website just went live a few days ago, but we have already received comments & a few questions about our services, so we are off to a good start!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication was great. Email worked best for our team, but we had calls & meetings whenever needed. They were very easy to work with and very responsive.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Bill is a wealth of knowledge with regards to digital marketing. He understood what our goals were and told us how to get there. He has a wonderfully efficient and responsive staff that work for him as well. We are thrilled with the final product!
