What challenge were you trying to address with SCI-BI Systems?

I needed development resources for a client's project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SCI-BI Systems has developed a large Salesforce instance which contains information about participants in the healthcare space, including physicians, hospitals, and insurance companies, and their respective relations. This information is gathered through a number of third-party sources, aggregated on Salesforce and updated on a monthly basis. SCI-BI handled most of the design. I acted as a project manager, offering them the requirements.

Some of our data is placed in a data warehouse through which we perform business analytics. We use Tableau in order to create visualizations which are entered back into Salesforce using the Canvas app. SCI-BI handled the ETL [Extract, Transform, and Load], designed the data warehouse, and populated it.

SCI-BI doesn't handle the Salesforce data work, but they are in charge of the Tableau data visualization work.

How did you come to work with SCI-BI Systems?

SCI-BI Systems’ Chief Executive Officer had worked with me at a previous company, so I came to know him and the quality of his work. He is very thorough and accurate, unlike many of his peers in the IT world. I knew that he had started SCI-BI while still working in his previous position. When I started my own business, I didn't need to talk to anyone else about the work.

How much have you invested with SCI-BI Systems?

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with SCI-BI Systems in October 2015. SCI-BI is currently providing support and changes to our Tableau visualizations, datasets, and so on.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

SCI-BI Systems has done excellent work. Our client is very happy with the results that we've achieved. We've been able to do things that didn't seem possible, but SCI-BI thought through the problem and delivered something which no one else was able to do. Our work is complicated through the sheer volume of data. There are close to one million physicians in the US, 8,000 hospitals, and tens of thousands of medical practices. Mapping all of these proved to be a complex task, but SCI-BI did it well.

What did you find most impressive about SCI-BI Systems?

SCI-BI is a very thorough and detail-oriented company. They're able to think out of the box. What we had to accomplish was challenging, but SCI-BI did a good job of working through it.

SCI-BI delivered the work with minimal direction, which was important. We're a small company, so we weren't able to assign a bunch of people to writing complex documentation.

Are there any areas SCI-BI Systems could improve?

There's nothing that I can think of off-hand. I've been very pleased with SCI-BI Systems.
