BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the COO at Divy Rewards. We provide mobile-first solutions for small businesses. The Divy Rewards mobile app is centered around a loyalty rewards program that offers increased brand control and visibility in local markets. Currently serving small to medium businesses throughout Southern California.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Scalio, and what were your goals?

Being a startup, we had “The Idea” and needed to move through the standard phases of development. What is unique about our business is the need for B2B and B2C, front end and back end development. We required fast and reliable solutions for web, iOS, and Android that were reliant on geolocation services.

We needed three separate environments for or each OS that included testing, sales, and production. There was also a need for a robust management console capable of handling auditing, reporting, and account admin tasks across the board.

How did you select Scalio and what were the deciding factors?

Scalio was a standout for us exceedingly early on in our lengthy vetting process. Their technical pedigree of previous development alone made sure they stood out. That said it was their actions, follow up, consistency, and accessibility during this process that lead us to partner with them. We were truly looking for a creative, committed business partner and Scalio is that partner.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The Scalio team initiated discovery sessions to outline goals and challenges. They created workflows, mocks, and an interactive prototype. Once approved, the Dev Team worked in 2-week sprints and provided us with the ability to test, document, and track issues in real-time.

As we neared project completion, we encountered a significant setback in the form of Cambridge Analytica. The Scalio team brought us a simple yet creative solution, which allowed us to evolve and expand in some very unexpected ways. Recapitalizing on existing code, Scalio was able to turn the project around and get our new MVP out in less than six months, well ahead of our required timeline.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had unfettered access to the core product team consisting of the senior project manager, 2 designers, their QA team, and 5 talented senior software engineers (iOS, Android, web UI, web CMS, and Backend/API).

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As stated Scalio took this massive project and overhauled it in less than 6 months, which was truly monumental. Within the first 8 months post-launch we were able to convert, onboard, and train 700+ local businesses and over 2,000 local consumers.

Scalio continues to bring so much value beyond the basic development we have experienced with other teams on previous projects.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

From beginning to end project management is fast and transparent. They utilize tools like Asana, Github, Wrike, and Slack. The difference is the response time is near-instant, follow up is timely, consistent, and deadlines do not get missed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We found that Scalio’s free-flowing and transparent communication allows our team to be incredibly efficient. This drives our results and greatly increases our production.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Scalio could have potentially prepared us better for the time investment required from our team during the app launch.

They were extremely thorough in ensuring we approved of the final product, and this required a significant time investment from our team. This quality showed in the app, but the feedback loop was intensive for several weeks.
