The Org & Scalero
The Org is a professional community that allows its users to explore organization charts for public and private companies. The company's mission is to make organizations more transparent and understand more about their own companies and the people in them.
Flashback to 2019, The Org had a growing user base and needed to quickly scale up its email program to keep its user base highly engaged with The Org community.
At the time, The Org was sending one weekly newsletter and a few automated emails out of Mailchimp, but the process was extremely manual and not scalable.
Scalero was hired to evaluate The Org’s tech stack and make recommendations on new systems to use that would allow it to scale with its fast-growing subscriber base. Scalero, in partnership with The Org, elected to implement Customer.io and Segment, using custom events that allowed for flexibility and personalization through its userbase.
Following the implementation, Scalero planned a robust email program, serving as the strategist, designer, and developer for The Org. Two years later, The Org has dozens of automated, personalized emails going out on a daily basis, and has introduced multiple new newsletters on a weekly basis. These emails are built and drafted by The Org’s team within Tiramisu, Scalero’s platform for email collaboration creation.

Teachers Pay Teachers & Scalero
Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) is the world’s largest marketplace for teachers to access the community, content, and tools they need to teach at their best. Founded in 2006, TpT provides a marketplace for teachers to exchange instructional materials and access easy-to-use digital tools. Today, TpT empowers teachers with the world's largest catalog of over 5 million pieces of educator-created content.
Flashback to 2019, TpT was already running a well-oiled lifecycle marketing program, driving millions of clicks every month via email marketing to their online teacher resource marketplace. Still, they had challenges facing them:
- They needed to migrate to Simon Data from Bronto, a platform that its parent company, Oracle, was shutting down
- They were launching several new products, like ClassFund, Easel, and School Access. TpT knew there would be a lot of design, email coding and data engineering revolved around these new products.
- They still felt they could drive a little more traffic to website with even further work in personalization and making their emails more relevant with data.
TpT elected to partner with Scalero on these initiatives. With Scalero, TpT was able to transfer to Simon Data on time, leverage the platform’s unique data manipulation and personalization capabilities, and double their website traffic from email.

POJ Studio & Scalero
Founded in 2017, Pieces of Japan (POJ Studio) aims to be a bridge between two worlds: Japan and the West. POJ Studio introduces 100% authentic Japanese artisanship into modern living. POJ Studio’s core values are based around the Japanese way of keeping in harmony with the seasons, so its clientele can always rely on sustainability and natural materials paired with precise Japanese craftsmanship.
POJ Studio was expanding fast and needed a platform to accommodate its increasing customer base. Scalero was hired to migrate POJ Studio from Mailchimp to Klaviyo while also giving the look and feel of its email program a facelift.
At the time, POJ Studio was using very simple drag-and-drop templates. With Scalero’s expertise in email design, POJ Studio was able to replace its templates with beautiful, bespoke email templates.
In addition, POJ Studio also leveraged Scalero’s rich knowledge in email lifecycle to set up new email automations. Resy is a restaurant management platform that uses technology to connect passionate diners with amazing restaurants. Since 2014, Resy has been a hub for people to find local favorites, classics, and new hot spots. In 2019, Resy was acquired by American Express.
Resy came to Scalero in 2019 to get assistance on coding an email that required some complex Jinja syntax. After completion of that project, Resy entrusted Scalero with an overhaul of their programmatic emails.
Scalero took on coding, optimizing, and implementing new automated emails that Resy revamped. This project included adding custom Jinja syntax for automations and advising on email design best practices. Scalero helped create robust email templates that would match all of Resy’s needs.
Over the last two-plus years, Scalero has been the main partner for Resy for email coding, updates, and Jinja syntax implementation. Resy’s Hit List is one of their most noteworthy projects that Scalero not only coded, but helped scale to over 10 cities. MyTrees came to Scalero in 2021 to get assistance on designing, coding, and implementing their emails. Scalero started off the partnership by assisting in the migration from Sendgrid to customer.io. From there, Scalero created bespoke email designs to spruce up their email program.
At the time, MyTrees’ emails were simple and straightforward. Scalero created a set of fresh and modern designs that helped MyTrees establish a unique brand image. These designs are now used throughout the MyTrees platform and have been incorporated into their identity.
In addition to design, Scalero set up new email automations using custom event triggers. These emails enhance the application by notifying users whenever they have hit certain action goals - giving users a well-rounded experience. Scalero set up Tier Rewards automations that are triggered whenever a user completes certain actions. This provides a personalized email experience relevant to the user’s tier.
Scalero also assisted MyTrees with the implementation of complex liquid syntax to add a deeper level of personalization to their emails. Thinx & Scalero
Thinx Inc. is an innovative women’s underwear brand, committed to changing the narrative around menstrual health and bladder leaks, and smashing any taboos that stand in the way. Founded in 2013, Thinx has millions of customers and subscribers that rely on Thinx for the best washable and reusable period underwear.
Thinx has three distinct brands: Thinx, Speax by Thinx, and Thinx Teens. Their customers regularly buy from all three brands and can subscribe to receive communications from all three brands. This creates a bit of complexity: when they send out emails, who should get what brand? Should some communications contain tribrand? If so, who gets the tribrand communications?
Scalero has helped Thinx with this challenge, using SQL to score each user’s affinity for each brand based on purchase behavior, email engagement, and web engagement. Not only has this made segmentation much easier, but users are now also getting brands that are the most relevant to them. Furthermore, Scalero helps with design and coding, helping Thinx more efficiently create campaigns for each brand.
The result? An increase of 22% of channel revenue in 2021, a difficult feat for the second year of the pandemic.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the email and content marketing manager at Galileo Learning. We’re an education company that offers summer camps, arts and science projects, and outdoor activities. Our service is for kids in pre-K–10th grade.
What challenge were you trying to address with Scalero?
Galileo needed a new email service provider. On top of that, we needed technical email support. We had a creative team that handled copy and design, but we needed a developer or a coder to execute our campaigns.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Scalero handles our email marketing needs. Initially, we’ve integrated their email services with Salesforce to ensure all of our data logs are segmented accordingly. This way, they can customize and tailor emails for each customer.
From there, we’ve collaborated with the team for our email campaigns; depending on the time of the year, we send daily or weekly emails. Their resources provide coding services and HTML templates that we customize as emails. On top of that, they execute our scheduling strategies and automate emails.
What is the team composition?
We currently work with two people. One is a client solutions specialist, and the other is the head of client solutions, who is also my main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Scalero?
Scalero was already working with Galileo when I joined the company.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $85,000 USD.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership with Scalero started in September 2020, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In 2022, we’ve grown conversions and more than doubled our revenue through email marketing. Our team has sent twice as many emails as last year; open rates have increased by 14%, while unsubscribe rates have gone down. In other words, we’ve seen success in our email channels, and that’s a testament to Scalero’s work.
Moreover, we’ve evolved the design and layout of the emails. We’ve received plenty of positive feedback for them from our internal team. I’ve also heard a couple of customers saying they like the new email format and designs.
How did Scalero perform from a project management standpoint?
Scalero’s project management is great. We have a Slack channel with them, and they’ve been truly responsive. Their resources are great at managing short- and long-term projects, so our daily email executions are handled well. On top of that, they help us make progress on longer-term projects.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their HTML template builder has been a game-changer for me. I don’t have HTML experience and dislike drag-and-drop programs, so it’s been great to have the templates they’ve created for us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Scalero has great ideas when we brainstorm, but I’d like them to have a better follow-through and make those ideas happen. I want those ideas to be out of the brainstorming phase and brought into the execution phase.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t be afraid to engage Scalero. They’re great at editing HTML templates. Once these templates are created, they can be constrained — you can’t easily move modules around. However, don’t be afraid to ask Scalero to make the edits you want. They’re the experts, so ask them your questions. Let them do the work to make everyone’s lives easier.

I manage promotional strategy, email, and SMS programs for a DTC ecommerce company in the home vertical.
For what projects/services did your company hire Scalero, and what were your goals?
Our bandwidth was limited, so we brought them on to help prepare email and SMS content for launch within our platforms. Later on, they helped us run an HTML vs PNG email test, and since HTML overperformed, they have been coding our promotional emails into HTML for us as well. They have also worked on an email audit for us for one of our brands; their team reviewed historical data through present across all campaigns and provided a comprehensive deck which included pain points and strategic suggestions.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We reached out to our ESP team and asked them for recommendations. Scalero was at the top of their list, and after meeting with their team we felt they were a great fit, especially considering they already had clients on the same ESP as we are and understood the platform.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and marking tools used.
We started out with one intro session, where I walked the team through the platform and our naming conventions, and then Scalero's team began to build out our emails! We provide them with a monthly calendar and communicate via slack - they just send over a message when an email they are preparing is complete, and my team then goes in to QA & test it, then scheduled the email. They usually have emails ready for us at least a few days ahead of the drop date included in the calendar we provide them with. When they worked on the audit they did for us, we used slack to coordinate calendars for walkthrough meetings & gave them access to our CDP, Figma, GA account, and data warehouse.

We work with the co-founder and client solutions manager.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Their deliverables are always clean and meet my expectations. If there is an error in the email they've coded or I'd like something changed, they are also very quick to provide support. Without them, we would not be able to code our promotional emails (which would probably lead to at least a 10% drop in promotional revenue). They have saved me and my team from many hours of overtime!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Very effective. They are always reachable over slack, and very quick to schedule live meetings upon request.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Our ESP is not one of the most commonly used, so I was happy that they were well-versed in working within it. In addition to building our emails, they have also been able to help me troubleshoot a few times!

Auto group with many brands and dealerships, wanted to reach out to customers to give them a variety of offers including new, used and service.
How did you select this vendor?
I talked to half a dozen agencies. I liked that they only did email (and some text) marketing. They weren't going to try to sell me on something else. Also they were willing to learn and use my crm.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
They put together a calendar of email marketing offers for each dealership and then develop creative and a distribution list. They track everything from click thrus to unsubscribe in google docs and take lessons form each.

some of the tracking is difficult, but as we've driven customers to our scheduling tool, we can accurately track how many appointments we get

Mistake free, there have been very few if any issues which is why I told them to take is slow, we have a lot of internal people on these email distributions and I would have heard about a mistake.
